Having been subdued. And from among them, he completely destroyed the defilements of immeasurable divine beings whose roots of virtue had ripened, and brought them to ripeness for enlightenment, and so forth. In short, solely through the samādhi of loving-kindness, he subdued one hundred thousand divisions of Māra's army in that very evening hour while residing at the core of enlightenment. Chapter 10 [The Deed of Complete Enlightenment]: Having sequentially contemplated the four truths of meditation and dependent origination, With a vajra-like [mind], he attained complete enlightenment. In the middle of the night, he sequentially entered the four meditations. By means of clairvoyance such as the divine eye, he clearly perceived the Four Noble Truths and the sequential order of dependent origination, both in its arising and ceasing. In the latter part of the night, at dawn, when the drums are beaten, that unsurpassed leader and charioteer of men, by rousing the power of noble wisdom, whatever was to be known and realized, all of that was achieved through the three knowledges by the wisdom associated with a single moment of mind. And even the subtlest defilements to be abandoned were destroyed by vajra-like samādhi, and thus he fully and perfectly awakened to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment within the expanse of all phenomena. On that very night, the son Rahula was born to Yasodhara, and Ananda, the son of Amritodana, was also born, and the moon was seized by Rahu (there was a lunar eclipse). Then the Tathagata, having risen into the sky as high as seven Tala trees, uttered inspired verses such as 'The stream of the path is cut off,' and so forth. This trichiliocosm also shook in six ways, and the guides of the ten directions exclaimed 'Excellent!', and sent forth a covering of dharma. The gods of the trichiliocosm made offerings and praised him, and for seven days, without breaking his cross-legged posture, he gazed at the Bodhi tree, and delighted in the bliss of meditation. During the second week, he walked far into the trichiliocosm. During the third week, he gazed at the core of enlightenment without blinking. During the fourth week, he walked not far between the eastern and western oceans. During the fifth week, he resided at the abode of the Naga king Muchalinda. During the sixth week, from there, he went to the foot of the Nyagrodha tree. During the seventh week, while residing at the foot of the Arjuna tree, the gods urged him to...

Nga Pagagon and Zangpo initially offered alms. The Four Great Kings then presented four stone begging bowls, which the Buddha accepted and miraculously blessed into a single bowl before partaking. \t\t\tDivine auspiciousness and wishes were fulfilled, \t\t\tAnd so forth, after auspicious deeds were done, he was prophesied to become a Buddha. \t\t\tAccording to the Mahayana tradition, during this period there were inconceivable manifestations, and throughout the forty-nine days (seven times seven days), the opening of the Dharma gates of many Buddhas, and many other unique occurrences. \t\t\tChapter 11: The Deed of Turning the Wheel of Dharma: \t\t\tBrahma and others supplicated, in certain and uncertain abodes, \t\t\tThe three successive wheels of Dharma, of definitive and non-definitive meaning, were turned. \t\t\tWhen the perfectly enlightened Buddha was dwelling near the Bodhi tree, he reflected that the profound Dharma (page 77a) he had attained would not be comprehended by any worldly beings, and thus he said: \t\t\tProfound, peaceful, free from elaborations, luminous, unconditioned— \t\t\tSuch a Dharma, like nectar, have I found. \t\t\tEven if taught to anyone, they cannot comprehend it; \t\t\tTherefore, I shall remain silent in the forest. \t\t\tHaving said this, while he remained in slight contemplation, through the Buddha's power, Brahma Sahampati, accompanied by an assembly of sixty-eight hundred thousand, came and supplicated him to teach the Dharma. However, the Buddha did not grant permission. Then, Indra was called as a companion, and after supplicating three times, the Buddha, having perfectly observed the capacities of the sentient beings to be tamed, agreed to open the door to the nectar for those uncertain beings. At that, the sound “The Tathagata has turned the Wheel of Dharma!” resonated up to the Brahma realms. \t\t\tAfter that, while begging for alms in Varanasi and proceeding to the Deer Park (Rishipattana) forest, the group of five good ones (the five ascetics) greeted him. They became monks by the word “Come here.” In that place, a great empty lion throne appeared. He circumambulated the first three thrones, and when he sat cross-legged on the fourth throne, a great light spread throughout the ten directions of the world, and a sound urging them to listen to the Dharma also arose. At that, a Bodhisattva son of the gods, immediately generating the Bodhi mind, turned the Wheel of Dharma, which was made of Jambudvipa gold, with spokes...
