From the time of becoming the good wisdom master and revering the Buddha Jewel's limbs, with the second immeasurable eon, one traversed the six grounds from the second to the seventh ground. Then, from the time when the Brahmin youth (66na) became Dharmamegha (Cloud of Dharma) and revered Dipankara Buddha, with the third immeasurable eon, one traversed from the eighth immovable ground to the eleventh all-pervading light ground. Among these, the path of accumulation and the path of preparation are included within the ordinary being's ground and above the first ground of the Arya (noble) learner's path, having accomplished the two accumulations of merit and wisdom. Some dull-faculty ones with faith (need) sixteen immeasurable eons; Those with medium diligence (need) eight immeasurable eons, over one hundred thousand (eons); Those with sharp faculties and wisdom (need) four immeasurable eons. The Teacher himself is the last, And due to strenuous diligence, he is said to be swift. In general, regarding the duration for Bodhisattvas to traverse the path, some scholars state that, depending on the individual's faculties, those with dull faculties and faith traverse it in sixteen immeasurable eons, those with medium diligence in eight immeasurable eons plus over one hundred thousand (eons), and those with sharp faculties and wisdom in four immeasurable eons. Our Teacher (Shakyamuni Buddha) is of the last kind (sharp faculties), and due to his extraordinary strenuous diligence, it is also said that he completed the path in slightly more than three immeasurable eons. 3. [Explanation of the Dharma to be practiced]: To ripen sentient beings, purify Buddha-fields, one traverses with the six perfections. Alternatively, for those inclined towards both the superior and inferior vehicles, For the sake of generating aspiration and taming, four kinds of conduct (are practiced). One also perfects the eighty inexhaustible conducts and so on. So then, what are the Dharmas to be practiced by Bodhisattvas for eons beyond counting? As stated in the *Compendium (of Mahayana)*: "The great being's sole purpose is to fully ripen sentient beings, Purify the Buddha-field, and accomplish the perfection of the Paramitas." As stated, this refers to fully ripening sentient beings, purifying the Buddha-field, and perfecting the six Paramitas, these three aspects. Furthermore, as stated in the *Mahayanasutralankara* (Ornament of Mahayana Sutras) (66ba): "For beings with the Mahayana, And those inclined to the Hinayana, To make both generate aspiration, For those established in the field to be tamed, The four kinds of conduct," As stated thus, th- (incomplete)

For those who aspire to the Mahayana, it is the practice of the Ten Perfections; for those who aspire to the Hinayana, it is the practice of the thirty-seven factors conducive to enlightenment; for those who aspire to both, for the sake of harmonious gathering, it is the practice of supernormal knowledge; for the sake of taming all, it is the practice of ripening sentient beings. These are four types. From the Sutra Requested by Akshayamati, the eighty inexhaustible qualities of Bodhisattvas are taught: inexhaustible generation of bodhicitta, intention, application, supreme intention, the six perfections, the four immeasurables, the five supernormal knowledges, the four means of attracting disciples, the four perfect discriminations, the four reliances, the two accumulations, the thirty-seven factors conducive to enlightenment, the two (practices of) shamatha and vipassana, the two (powers of) dharani and eloquence, the four summaries of dharma, the one path, the inexhaustible skillful means; and furthermore, through immeasurable good conduct, they attain and perfect the inconceivable and inexpressible qualities of a Buddha. C5 Fifth, incidental section [Showing the stages of faculties]: Those who first generate the supreme mind and are on the first bhumi, From the stage of the eighth (bhumi), there are three types of non-regression. These are distinctions of faculties; the Supreme Sage was the first type. Sharp-faculty Bodhisattvas become irreversible merely by first generating the supreme mind (bodhicitta); medium-faculty (Bodhisattvas) become irreversible at the stage of the first bhumi; dull-faculty (Bodhisattvas) become irreversible from the stage of the eighth bhumi. It is also taught that the very dull (Bodhisattvas) become irreversible at the ninth bhumi. These, as mentioned above, are distinctions of faculties. Our teacher, the Supreme Sage Siddhartha (Accomplisher of All Aims), is of the first type. This is because he became irreversible from the very first moment of generating bodhicitta during the time of the Brahmin Ocean Dust (page 67, verso). Or, that he entered the immaculate stage of a Bodhisattva, is clearly explained in the Prajnaparamita commentary by Dharmamitra, a Madhyamaka master. This is the section on how the Teacher himself previously traversed the path to enlightenment. This is the commentary on the first section, how the Teacher himself previously traversed the path to enlightenment. Second: The section on various views regarding the Teacher's perfect Buddhahood. Ng2 The second section, the explanation of the manner in which the Tathagata attained Buddhahood has two parts: C1 Brief exposition. C2 Extensive explanation. C1 First is: The Sugata's (Buddhism)...
