And among them, the cessation by careful analysis (pratisaṅkhyā-nirodha) is a true result of separation (virāga-phala), and it is also a conventional truth. The ultimate truth of cessation (nirodha-satya) is a separated entity, and it is a designated result (prajñapti-phala). The reason why the ultimate reality, the dharmadhātu (ultimate sphere), is designated as a designated result is because this dharmadhātu is inseparable from the Svabhāvikakāya (body of essence). This is stated from the perspective of Svabhāvikakāya being called a 'result.' It is not a true result because the actual cause-and-effect relationship does not apply to unconditioned phenomena (asaṃskṛta-dharma). That which is encompassed by external objects is the dominant result (adhipati-phala). Temporarily, without analysis (47a), when external objects are accepted, the container world (bhājana-loka) and all external forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects that are used are dominant results. If analyzed slightly, even if external objects are not accepted, the appearances of consciousness (lakṣaṇa-vikalpa) that are present and the consciousness that appears as objects (artha-vikalpa), and so forth, are designated as dominant results. That which is encompassed by the continuum of sentient beings (sattva-saṃtāna) is the result of maturation (vipāka-phala). This includes phenomena related to the body, one's own five aggregates of appropriation (pañca-upādānaskandha), and the appearances of consciousness therein, and so forth. The operative result (kāraṇa-phala) is everything that arises through the function of a cause. Those that arise from similar causes (saṃbhāga-hetu) are similar results (niṣyanda-phala). These explanations are given primarily based on their main aspects and are not absolute classifications. Generally, all causes that produce phenomena are definitely categorized into two: the cause of defilement (klesha-hetu), which is the ālayavijñāna (store-consciousness) with all its karmic imprints (vāsanā) for cyclic existence, and the cause of purification (vyavadāna-hetu), which is the undefiled seed (anāsrava-bīja). Because they are categorized into these two. First, the cause of defilement, which is the ālayavijñāna's seed of cyclic existence with all its karmic imprints, acts as the cause for all defilements in the three realms (triloka) of saṃsāra. Second, the undefiled seed is posited upon the ālayavijñāna. Regarding this, in the Abhidharmasamuccaya (Compendium of Abhidharma), it is also stated that it is the seed arisen from hearing (śruta-vāsana-bīja). Its essence is generosity (dāna), ethical conduct (śīla), and other virtuous... (text truncated)

This is not merely the imprinting of ordinary path-stage propensities, but rather the imprinting of propensities seeing the qualities of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind upon the alaya-vijnana (store-consciousness). Therefore, here, primarily because the scriptures that perfectly expound the congruent cause of the Buddha's mind (47b) Dharmakaya (truth body) are heard, and based on that, the profound secret aspects of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind are understood and known, placing these seeds on the alaya-vijnana. Later, that individual will attain liberation and become the cause of liberation, hence it is called the uncontaminated seed. It is not certain that this uncontaminated seed is present in all sentient beings. \t\t\tAlternatively, it can be categorized into two: the cause of innate acquisition and the cause of effort-born acquisition. \t\t\tThe first is: the ripening aspects of the alaya-vijnana; the second is: the aspect of seeds. For example, due to the power of the ripening of seeds from hearing the Dharma in previous lives, the perfect wisdom born of one's own strength in this life is called innate wisdom. And in this life, having heard much, fully planting and habituating its seeds, from which perfect wisdom arises, this is established as effort-born wisdom. These are mentioned incidentally. \t\t\t2. Second, regarding the explanation of the uncommon traditions, there are also two: 1. The general definitive meaning; and 2. Specifically, the tradition of Clear Light Great Perfection (Dzogchen). \t\t\t1. The first has four parts: 1. How the twelve links of dependent origination cause delusion; 2. Relating that to the eight consciousness aggregates; 3. How the three types of propensities cycle; 4. And appended [how cyclic existence ceases]. \t\t\t1. The first of these has two parts: 1. General presentation; and 2. Specific elaboration. \t\t\t1. The first is: \t\t\tUltimately, samsara-nirvana are not established, \t\t\tConventionally, causes and conditions arise dependently, \t\t\tThe twelve-linked wheel turns without interruption. \t\t\tHaving already presented the general causes and conditions that establish compounded phenomena, as asserted by the common vehicles, now we shall begin to explain the uncommon definitive meaning: \t\t\tFrom Aryapada's Bodhicittavivarana (48a): \t\t\tJust as sugarcane is sweet, \t\t\tAnd the nature of fire is hot, \t\t\tSimilarly, of all phenomena,
