From sunrise, it becomes one day. In this day, there are twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths, and twelve transitions or time-junctions. Each transition or time-junction has one thousand eight hundred breaths and five hours. This is the basis of all time calculations. Delving deeper into these days, based on the movements of the moon, sun, and wind, three distinctions of days arise: lunar day, solar day, and sidereal day. Lunar phases in fifteen parts, the sun circles continents, Revolutions and thirty parts of zodiacal transit, each successive longer. From lunar phases, lunar months, sidereal days, and years, The seasons and months revolve clockwise with the earth. Each of the fifteen parts of the waxing and waning moon phases is called a lunar day, with a duration of fifty-nine hours plus its increment (page 33). The sun circling the four continents once, meaning from dawn today until dawn tomorrow, or the duration of one transition of the planetary hour, is called a solar day, with a duration of sixty hours. One-thirtieth of the time it takes for the sun to traverse one zodiacal mansion is a sidereal day, with a duration of sixty hours plus its increment. Among these, the solar day is longer than the lunar day, and the sidereal day is longer than the solar day, successively increasing in duration. When these three types of days are used to calculate months and years, according to their importance, until the calculation enters the month, the solar day is primary, as both sidereal and lunar days must be calculated in reference to the solar day. Once the calculation enters the month, the lunar day becomes primary, because even if the solar days have not reached thirty, if the lunar days have reached thirty, the month must be considered complete. This is because three hundred and seventy-one lunar days minus three hundred and sixty-five solar days leaves a remainder of six days, which constitutes the missing days of one year and therefore must be discarded. Similarly, in the "Treasury" (Abhidharmakosha), it states: "When two and a half lunar halves have passed, And half a lunar month remains, The wise discard the insufficient days." When calculating years, the sidereal day is primary, because a truly defined year must complete one full cycle of the equally divided four seasons. To complete this, the sun must traverse twelve sidereal months, each essentially thirty sidereal days. As stated in "Vajra Dakini" (རྡོ་རྗེ་མཁའ་འགྲོ་): "When the sun goes and returns twice, That is called one year..."

It is stated. Therefore, a year has three hundred and sixty household days and twelve household months, neither more nor less. Hence, when each of the twelve months, each consisting of thirty days for both lunar and solar calculations, is completed, the year is not yet finished. In addition to this, eleven extra days from the lunar calculation and five accompanying days from the solar calculation must be added to align with the sidereal year, thus it is so. The meaning of this is that the fifteen days of waxing and waning of the moon are designated as one month, known as the lunar month. The completion of one cycle including summer, winter, autumn, and spring is counted as one year, known as the sidereal year. In this way, the nine planets, having partaken of the stellar mansions (zodiacal houses), cause the four seasons on Earth to be situated in a counter-clockwise (left-turning) manner, yet their revolution is in a clockwise (right-turning) direction. For instance, when the three southern segments experience spring, the eastern region has summer, the northern has autumn, and the western has winter. However, for each segment, spring is followed by summer, summer by autumn, autumn by winter, and winter by spring, appearing in sequence, thus it is so. In the sky, twelve yogas (time conjunctions) appear. A yoga is defined as the duration during which the planets enjoy each stellar mansion, each occupying nine parts of the constellations. Therefore, although all planets have twelve yogas, it is said that the stellar mansions of the twelve yogas arrive in that year. Specifically, the twelve yogas mentioned in relation to the completion of one stellar mansion appearing each day refers solely to the sun. By the power of the yogas, the world (container) and its inhabitants (contents) wax and wane. Internally, for the body of a person endowed with the six elements, when the winds of the twelve yogas flow properly, there is well-being; when they flow improperly, there will be suffering. Similarly, externally, when the winds of the twelve yogas flow properly, then: The Tantra states: "Grains will grow in the wilderness, and trees will bend with firm fruits; these will appear." As stated, the qualities of the container (world) will increase, and the lifespan of humans will also range from one hundred years to eighteen hundred years...
