The great Lotsawa, the Dharma Lord, the holy Lama, Nyad-bon Kun-dga'-dpal, etc., appeared in succession. The latter was particularly skilled in this science of logic, and thus it was said that "Logic culminates in Nyad". Nyad-bon's disciple was Yak Mi-pham Chos-kyi Bla-ma. Thereafter, in succession, appeared Rong-ston Shes-bya Kun-gzigs, Byams-chen Rab-'byams-pa Sangs-rgyas-'phel, Go-ram-pa Bsod-nams Seng-ge, and many other lords of speech. From Rong-ston's disciple Rje Don-yod-dpal-ba, came Pan-chen Shākya Mchog-ldan, etc. In short, (204na) numerous lions of speech appeared, strung together like a pearl necklace. Again, a disciple of the glorious holy Lama was Lo-chen Byang-rtse. From him came Lo-chen Grags-pa. From him appeared Bo-dong Kun-mkhyen 'Jigs-bral Chen-po, who separately established a tradition called "Tshad-ma Rig-snang" (Appearance of Logic). Again, Zhang Mdo-sde-dpal, the scholar Nor-bzang-dpal, Gnyag-dbon, Red-mda'-ba Gzhon-nu-blo-gros, Rje Tsong-kha-pa. Through him, and his successors such as Gyal-tshab Dar-ma Rin-chen and Mkhas-grub Dge-legs-dpal-ba, the tradition of teaching has not declined until the present, and the lion's roar of logic continues to resound. Especially the Lord of the World, The Seventh Supreme Victor accumulated an ocean of treatises, All the rivers of Dharmakīrti's thought gathered. Although many scholars thus clearly elucidated the unerring path of logic, later, due to the gradual decrease of merit and intellect, the authoritative treatises of the masters of logic were diminished by what appeared to be critical examinations. To clarify this unerringly, the Lord of the World, Avalokiteshvara, the All-knowing Seventh Supreme Victor Chos-grags Rgya-mtsho (Kelsang Gyatso), whose previous life was Dharmakīrti, awakened his latent predispositions. He spoke spontaneously from his mind, and the scribe merely wrote it down, without any effort in drafting, consulting references, or reviewing texts. This became the renowned "Ocean of Treatises on Logic" (Tshad-ma Rig-gzhung Rgya-mtsho), endowed with many extraordinary and marvelous qualities, which served as sustenance for the intelligent. It became a great confluence where all the rivers of Dharmakīrti's thought, without exception, gathered. The third [Subsidiary explanation of which philosophical tenets it corresponds to]: Ngog Lo, following the Sāmantabhadra school of no-inherent-nature, Interpreted Yogācāra and other Prāsangika texts, Into Madhyamaka...

Regarding the three modes of interpretation [of the Pramana scriptures]: Regarding this Pramana treatise, Je Tsongkhapa and others asserted it to be a text that refutes erroneous views and flawlessly expounds the system of the Four Noble Truths. The great scholar Ngawang Chodrak stated that this treatise should be called "A Treatise Complete with Inner Meaning," but in its essence, it belongs to the "outer sciences" (phyi rig pa), being a treatise on Pramana (logic/epistemology). Considering its subject matter, the Great Ngok Lotsawa explained it as the Madhyamaka asserting non-inherent existence, the Sakya tradition explained it as Yogacara-Madhyamaka, and most others explained it as the Madhyamaka of worldly convention. These are the three Tibetan modes of interpretation. Furthermore, the Omniscient Sonam Sengge said: Regarding the scriptures of the two crown jewels of logic, There is explaining by combining the upper and lower sections of the Seven Treatises, And explaining by extracting the excellent parts of Indian commentaries, And explaining through one's own conceptualization. Among these three modes of explanation in this land of snowy mountains, Having accustomed to the path of reasoning through many lifetimes, And possessing faultless lineage instructions, And having the wisdom of Manjushri's mind, The Sakyapas uphold the first mode of explanation. As stated, Sakya Pandita (Sa-paṇ) explains by gathering various fragmented subject matters from Dignaga's Pramanasamuccaya, Dharmakirti's Seven Treatises, and the auto-commentary on the first chapter, combining similar types into one. Most other Tibetan teachers explain by drawing out the excellent points from the Indian commentaries (referring to masters like Lha, Shakya, Gyan, Chog, etc.). Gyaltsab Je and Khedrup Je explain through their own reasoning/wisdom. These are also considered the three modes of explanation. Third, explaining the origin of the science of crafts (bZo rig pa) has three parts: 1. Supports of mind (Thugs rten - e.g., stupas), 2. Supports of body (sKu rten - e.g., statues), 3. Supports of speech (gSung rten - e.g., scriptures). First (the supports of mind), it states: The supports of the Three Jewels are the supreme cause for the science of crafts. Among all, the Lotus Heap Stupa (Pema Bumpa Chorten) first arose. Others, those with faith, successively built (them). All crafts are subsumed under the three (actions of) body, speech, and mind; here, describing the origins primarily concerns the actions of the body (physical creation). And among all crafts, those that pour forth inexhaustible temporary and ultimate benefit and happiness are the supports of body, speech, and mind related to the Three Jewels.
