Until now, it has been widely known as extensive and continuous. The tradition transmitted from the Tantric master Zungkyi Palwa is known as the 'Lam 'Bras Rzong Lugs' (Path and Fruit Fortress Tradition). From this lineage, the omniscient Kunga Namgyal appeared, giving rise to a separate lineage of teachings called 'Gangkarpa,' which was later greatly praised by masters such as Rigdzin Tsewang Norbu. Regarding the 'Slob Shed' (Teaching Explanation), Tsarchen Losal Gyatso received the precious oral instructions from Doring Kunpongpa Chenpo, a disciple of Dagchen Lodro Gyaltsen, thereby establishing a separate tradition called the 'Tsar Lugs Slob Shed' (Tsar Tradition of Teaching Explanation). Heart-sons like Jamyang Khyentse Wangchuk (like the sun) and Mangtos Ludrup Gyatso (like the moon) appeared. In short, these great accomplished masters and scholars maintained, nurtured, and propagated the Sakya tradition, causing the activities of the Generation and Completion Stages of Hevajra to flourish like a summer lake even in such a degenerate age as this. \t\t\tThird [Subsidiary Explanation of Other Lineages]: \t\t\tGyi Jo's tradition also merged into Kunpong Chenpo (183b). \t\t\tIt is said that when Panchen Gayadhara came to Tibet for the second time, he gave oral instructions to Ngos Lotsawa, and for the third time, he gave oral instructions to Gyi Jo and Nyos Lotsawa. Through Gyi Jo Dawai Özer's disciple Zhü Khorlo, Zhü Dharma Gyaltsen, and others, later, the Drokmi tradition and Jonang Kunpang Chenpo merged into a single stream. \t\t\tFourth, explaining the tradition of Ngakdak Marpa's Kagyu (Bka' Brgyud) has two parts: 1. Identifying the tradition. 2. Explaining the various lineages separately. \t\t\tFirst: \t\t\tThe four instructions, the collected lineage of Naropa and Maitripa, \t\t\tThe teachings of explanation and practice by Ngakdak Lotsawa, the regent. \t\t\tFurthermore, the powerful siddha Tilopa, after practicing for twelve years with iron fetters on his feet in the Somapuri (Puri) monastery in the west, and finally, as prophesied by the guru deity, he served a prostitute to purify his realization of the path. Having attained the stage of a great siddha, merely by singing the Vajra Dohas, he liberated the beings of twelve hundred thousand cities. It is also said that his eight accomplished disciples likewise worked for the benefit of beings. \t\t\tTo Tilopa, the lineage, long...

The teachings are divided into two The former, from his very mouth, says: Nāgārjuna, Cāryapa, Lavapa, Skalpa Zangmo (Sukhasiddhi) are my Gurus of the four descending precepts. As it was said, from Cāryapa came Tummo, from Nāgārjuna came Illusory Body and Clear Light, from Lavapa came Dream Yoga, and from Sukhasiddhi came the teachings of Bardo and Phowa (transference of consciousness). Furthermore, from Indrabhūti came the wisdom of entering other bodies, and from Mātangi came the instructions for entering corpses (transference of consciousness into a corpse). Although there are many systems (brings about) in such a distant lineage, The glorious Rangjung Dorje said: The perfectly complete Buddha, the great Vajradhara, taught it to the Lord of Secrets (Vajrapani) and other Bodhisattvas (184n). These (teachings) were transmitted to the gurus of the four descending precepts: Nāgārjuna, Āryadeva, Candrakīrti, Mātangi are the southern lineage. Ḍombipa, Vīṇapa, Lavapa, Indrabhūti are the western lineage. Lūyipa, Ḍeṅgipa, Dārikapa, Sukhadharī are the northern lineage. Sukhamahāsiddhi, Ṭaṅlopa, Śilopa, Karṇaripa are the eastern lineage, as it was said. The four directions refer to the fact that they mostly traveled to those regions in the Noble Land (India). As for the close lineage: Tilopa said: “I have no human guru, All my gurus are omniscient ones.” As it was said, he received the instructions of the four classes of tantras directly from the Buddha Vajradhara. Vajrayogini bestowed the treasure of the three cycles of ear-whispered jewels, thus gathering all the essential points of the instructions. Before this venerable one (Tilopa), Paṇchen Naropa endured twelve great hardships, and finally, relying on words and symbols, he comprehended all the meanings of the secret mantra and attained accomplishment. The emanation of Ḍombī Heruka, Marpa Chökyi Lodrö of Lhodrak traveled to the Noble Land (India) three times. He relied on Naropa himself for a total of sixteen years and seven months, and received initiations, explanations, and oral instructions of numerous tantras, primarily Cakrasamvara. From the Vajra Song (Dorje Gur): Paṇchen Naropa of India, And Marpa Lotsāwa of Tibet, Met due to their shared aspirations from past trainings. (For) Sixteen years and seven months.
