Each one, too, is presented in three modes: elaborate, non-elaborate, and extremely non-elaborate. For the elaborate practice of the sharp-witted, there are five aspects: the number of mudras, the classification (into family and family-bearer), the characteristics, the chronology, and the accomplishment of attire/rituals. Regarding its non-elaborate practice, there are five aspects: for the diligent who attain Buddhahood in this lifetime, it is the practice of passionate absorption in the wisdom mudra; for the lazy who attain Buddhahood in the Bardo, it is the practice of mingling with death as the primary cause; for those with obstacles who attain Buddhahood through successive births, it is the practice of mingling with sleep as the primary cause; for those who begin the path with the Paramitayana (characteristic vehicle) and gather the culmination of the path with the Mantrayana (secret mantra vehicle), meaning the former attains the ten bhumis and the latter attains Buddhahood in Akanishtha through receiving the three higher empowerments, it is the practice according to the manner of Shakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment; and the extensive explanation of the above three practices is the practice of absorption with the dharmas of selflessness, making a total of five. The rituals of elaborate and non-elaborate practices are summarized by the various methods of accomplishing the abode and implements, and incidentally, the special characteristics of the practitioners are explained. There are two types of meditative equipoise contemplation: the preliminary practice of training in the aspiration of the Buddha Vehicle, and the actual practice. The latter (actual practice) has two parts: the generation stage, which causes wisdom to arise through gradual development; and the completion stage, which causes wisdom to arise directly. Regarding the first (generation stage), it is explained by three points: the nature, classification, and the reason for applying the term to the characteristic generation stage which is the basis for purification. The purifying agent, the nominal generation stage, is summarized by the two: approach (sevā) and accomplishment (sādhana). The approach (sevā) which pleases the wisdom deity has two parts: training single-pointedly on gross familiar objects with one-pointed mindfulness; and the yoga of conceptual thought, which involves clinging to extremely subtle objects and conceptualizing. Regarding the classification of the former (one-pointed mindfulness), there are two: the mandala wheel; and the solitary hero. Each one, too, has two: the supporting celestial mansion; and the supported deities. The mandala wheel consists of thirty-two deities to be meditated upon. By the transformation of the principal deity upon whom the family flower falls, its number changes accordingly. Each one, too, has the samaya-sattva and jnana-sattva, and their numbers also change accordingly, resulting in ninety-six conjunctions/applications. The solitary hero (incomplete sentence).

Next, individuals of superior faculties are generated through the four yogas; those of middling faculties are generated through the five manifest bodhicittas; and those of inferior faculties are generated through the four vajras. Each of these also has thirty-two principal transference mandalas and ninety-six preliminary practices. The methods of actual practice are comprised of preliminary and main parts. There are two types of conceptual yoga: for the benefit of sharp-minded practitioners who delight in meditation, inward focusing is taught; for the benefit of dull-minded practitioners who delight in recitation, focusing on mantras is taught. Regarding the first (inward focusing), there are two gates: the upper gate and the lower gate, which are applied as antidotes to the elements, afflictions, and disease constituents. These are to be practiced within the samadhi endowed with the five certainties. Focusing on mantras also has two types: for the benefit of those who delight in condensed and elaborate practices, the two practices of counting the three-syllable mantra and the rosary mantra are recited, and offerings are completed with fire pujas. There are four divisions of anterior and posterior. Each of these, as before, also becomes thirty-two, thus there are one hundred and twenty-eight preliminary practices. For the samadhi of beginners seeking to achieve desired siddhis, first, one must practice the preliminary conduct of "wise restraint" for six months. The main practice has two parts: achieving the four mundane activity siddhis, and achieving the eight common great siddhis. The methods for achieving the first type (mundane activity siddhis) involve meditation through the generation and completion stages; and recitation endowed with eight distinct characteristics; similarly, fire pujas; and the four specialized implements endowed with unique yantras, mantras, and tantra samadhi. For each of these, the practitioner has thirty-two classifications, and one hundred and twenty-eight preliminary practices. Each of the four activities is further explained with many sub-categories based on the type of achievement desired. Regarding the common siddhis, the root tantra mentions six, while the explanatory tantra mentions eight. The first is the sword; the second is Vidyadhara (knowledge-holder), divided into five types, each with five (sub-types); the third is the pill, which includes body, speech, and mind mantra pills, and two types of material pills: general and specific; the fourth is clairvoyance, which includes achieving the blessings of Bodhisattvas and Tathagatas; the fifth is swift-footedness, which includes mundane and supramundane body, speech, and mind swift-footedness; the sixth is eye medicine; the seventh is the good vase; the eighth is the three-layered shoe.
