The great translator Gos Khugpa Lhas Tsas received the empowerment, tantra, commentaries, and oral instructions of Guhyasamaja from the great Pandita Dipankara, Devakara Chandra, Viryabhadra, and seventy other pandits, as well as two dakinis. In Tibet, he made very good revisions and corrections to the previously translated tantras and their minor commentaries. From his extensive teachings to his disciples, four pillars of disciples who upheld the tantras emerged, eight beams of oral instructions, and countless others skilled in activity collections and enlightened activities, like stacked planks. Among these, six supreme disciples appeared, such as Marpa ba Sengge Gyaltsen. Through their close transmission, the tradition of Guhyasamaja became very widespread, and this is known as the Gos tradition. Furthermore, Jowo Je Atisha taught the Nagtsol. He explained it to Rongpa Chag Sorpa and others, and from this, it became known as the Jowo tradition. Moreover, Chag Chöje Pal, relying on Pandita Rebendrapa and others, received the Guhyasamaja. He taught it to Uyugung Rab Lama Pal and others, and through this close transmission, it became known as the Chag tradition. Furthermore, the Kashmiri Panchen gave it to Sakya Pandita and Pyal Chökyi Zangpo and others, and from this, it became known as the Panchen tradition. Moreover, the lineage transmitted from Sapan was distinguished as the Sakya tradition and the Chag tradition, thus making six counted traditions of Guhyasamaja. In addition, various other diverse lineages with slightly different explanations emerged. The later Yeshe Zhabs tradition was initially spread from Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo to Kyangpo Chölo and others, and Smriti Jnana also taught it in Kham (Kham region), thus becoming known as the Kham tradition (155na). The lineage passed down from Pandita Sunayashri and Nyan Lotsawa became very renowned among the Sakyapas, thus known as the Sakya tradition. And the tradition spread by Ra Chörab, who received it from Pandita Punyashri and others, thus known as the Ra tradition. Furthermore, Ngok Jungpo, relying on Balin Acharya, heard the Guhyasamaja, and from this, the Ngok tradition emerged. Thus, regarding both the earlier and later traditions, many authors of commentaries, sadhanas, mandala rituals, and oral instruction texts appeared in this land of Tibet. The supreme Marpa and Gos, to whom the teachings of practice and explanation descended; Marpa's lineage of explanation arose from Tsur; The Gos tradition, like pillars and beams, and stacked planks, and so on, continued; Omniscient...

Secondly, the attainment of preciousness has descended. Among these traditions, the most supreme are the Marpa tradition and the Gos tradition. The former is the lineage of accomplishment and practice, and the latter is the lineage of explanation and teaching. Marpa's explanation lineage originated from Tsurton Wanggi Dorje, and was transmitted through Khampa Ronyam Dorje, Khon Gadpa Kirti, and others. The Gos's explanation lineage, comprising the traditions of the four pillars of tantra and so forth, converged upon Kunkhyen Chokyi Odzer, an incarnation of the Great Kashmiri Pandita, who comprehended all treatises merely by glimpsing them. He bestowed this upon Phagspa Od, a sage skilled in the three times. From him, Buton Rinpoche heard and became extremely learned, composing many works such as the great commentary on the "Lamp Illuminating". His student, Khyud Lhepa Zhonnu Sonam, transmitted this to the great being Lobzang Dragpa (Tsongkhapa), who then spread the teachings of Guhyasamaja across the entire world. The Guhyasamaja Avalokiteshvara tradition is a distinct lineage of Jowo Je (Atisha) himself, bestowed upon Lhatsun Jangchub Od, and its empowerment lineage still exists today (page 155b). The empowerment teachings and tantra transmissions of both Guhyasamaja traditions are universally widespread. The lineage of the Five Stages' oral instructions and practices is preserved in the Shalung tradition; and the explanation lineage of the "Four Shouts" – the great commentary "Lamp Illuminating" on the root tantra, along with its annotations and final critiques – remains unbroken in the Gelug direction. Furthermore, although it is said that Lord Marpa (Marpa Lotsawa) had about seven explanation lineages of Guhyasamaja, these lineages are no longer evident later. Among all the various explanation traditions Gos Lotsawa heard, based on the texts of the Five Arya Families, he primarily upheld the traditions of three masters: the Mahasiddha with Abhijna from Bengal, the Mahasiddha Devikara (who had a consort) from Zahor, and the Mahasiddha Nagpo Damtsig Dorje from Bodhgaya. Among these, according to the tradition of explanation based primarily on Nagpopa's lineage, the great King of Tantras (Guhyasamaja Tantra), according to the intent of the Arya Father and Son (Nagarjuna and his disciples), is understood to have two kinds of Dharma: one focusing on ultimate reality, and the other on the attainment of temporary special qualities. The first one is: "When there is no object, there is no meditation." The meaning taught by this and similar statements is the ultimate reality of the non-duality of the two truths, which is beyond speech and thought.
