The subsequent lineage was propagated by Manjushri. Regarding the Kriya Tantra and Charya Tantra, which are the foremost among the four great Tantra classes renowned in the New Translation tradition of the outer tantras of Secret Mantra: In the noble land (India), the masters Bodhivisheshana and Buddaguhya were preeminent scholars. The former primarily propagated the Kriya Tantra, and the latter the Charya Tantra, both emphasizing the combination of explanation and practice. Furthermore, others such as Jetari also propagated them in various appropriate ways. During the early propagation of the Dharma in Tibet, King Trisong Deutsen sent Dabpa Manjushri and others to invite Master Buddaguhya. However, he did not come; instead, he listened to the explanations of the Kriya Yoga Tantra (Kriyā Tantra, Carya Tantra, Yoga Tantra). He took Buddaguhya's own commentaries, returned, and presented them to the Emperor, and also taught them to his disciples, thus causing the Dharma to flourish. These include the *Punyasena Tantra*, *General Secret Tantra*, *Posterior Dhyana Tantra*, etc., and for the *Charya Tantra*, there is a condensed meaning commentary on the *Vairocana Abhisambodhi Tantra* by Master Buddaguhya, and Buddaguhya's teachings were well understood and written down by the Lotsawa. Furthermore, a commentary on the *Vajrapani Abhisheka Tantra* was also translated. It appears that there was also a tradition of teaching and listening for these and other texts. However, during the later propagation of the Dharma, although many supreme beings, such as Bari Lotsawa Rinchen Drak, propagated various streams of empowerment and teachings, and other traditions, a robust lineage of explanation did not greatly develop (152b). The great Ngorchen Vajradhara Kunga Zangpo undertook a three-year retreat in the Sakya Gorum Library, thoroughly studying the Tantras and their Indian commentaries. Although he (referring to Kunga Zangpo) composed a general treatise on Kriya and Charya Tantras and made great efforts to propagate the doctrine, nowadays, the scriptural transmissions of various tantras, and numerous empowerments, subsequent permissions, pith instructions, and scriptural transmissions such as "General Three Classes of Kriya Tantra", "Immaculate Dual Aspects", "Three Samaya Arrangements", "Medicine Buddha with Forty-seven Deities", "Amoghapasha with Many Deities", "Akshobhya with Nine Deities", "Eleven-faced Avalokiteshvara according to Nagarjuna's tradition", "Vajrapani according to Drogon's tradition", etc., as well as the "Vairocana Abhisambodhi Charya Tantra with One Hundred Twenty-Two Deities and Two Signs", and Manjushri Arapacana with five deities...

There is only the lineage of empowerment, but no lineage of explanation. II. [Yoga Tantra]: The tradition of Yoga Tantra originated from three masters, Initially propagated by the Great Translator (Rinchen Zangpo) and his four heart-sons, as well as Jowo (Atiśa). Then, through Tsa, Nur, Dzim, and a hundred other tributaries, Finally, it converged into the ocean of the scholar Butön. He fundamentally revitalized the teachings of Yoga. Regarding the Yoga Tantra: Skilled in words was Shakya Bhadra (Śākyaśrībhadra), skilled in meaning was Buddha Guhya (Buddhaguhya), and skilled in both was Kunga Nyingpo (Anandagarbha). The oral traditions of these three masters were very famous in the noble land (India). In Tibet, Buddhaguhya's oral tradition appeared during the early propagation but later ceased. During the later propagation, only the system of Anandagarbha flourished. Initially, the Great Translator Rinchen Zangpo went to Kashmir (Kashmir) and relied on many lamas. Having heard many tantras and pith instructions, he became extremely proficient in secret mantra in general and in Yoga in particular. Although most of the Yoga Tantras already existed in Tibet, he re-translated them in accordance with commentaries. Commentaries such as “Collected Commentaries” (Denyi Düpe Drelpa) and “Appearing Commentaries” (Denyi Nangwa) were also translated, and through teaching, listening, and practice, (the teachings) were well established. He established the definitive practices, and conferred them upon many disciples, primarily his four heart-sons: Lochung Legpe Sherab, Gungshing Tsondru Gyaltsen, Drapa Zhönnu Sherab, and Kyinor Jnana. Thus, many lineages were established through teaching, listening, and practice. After that, Phobrang Zhiwa Ö invited the Pandita Kalaśa and others. Many translations were made, especially the “Palchog Hor Kōngsab”. He (Kalaśa) also taught the “Explanatory Tantra Vajraśekhara” (Vajraśekhara Tantra) and others to many disciples. The Great Jowo (Atiśa Dipamkara Shrijnana) conferred the empowerments and pith instructions of the Charya Tantra (Conduct Tantra) upon Gomi Gomchen and others. From them, Kyinor Jnana and Nyalpa Nyishe and others successively transmitted and widely propagated (the teachings). Zangkar Lotsawa also undertook extensive listening and study regarding Yoga, and completely translated the “Lower Three-Part Commentary” (Smad 'grel dum bu gsum). Through propagating and teaching to Nyalpa Nyima Sherab, Marpa Dorje Yeshe, Nyenton Tsultrim Bar, and Changtsangpa Sengge Gyaltsen, who are known as the “Four Sons of Zangkar”, (the teachings) became extremely flourishing. Later, Tsa Kyawa Tön Shakya, Nyalpa’s disciple Nur Nyima Özer, and Dzimpawa Lochen – these three primarily held the responsibility for teaching, listening, and practice. Furthermore, from Rebendra of Nepal (Nepal)...
