A connection arose. From this, some extraordinary scholars and accomplished masters emerged, such as Gö Lotsawa Zhonnu Pal and Chen Nga Chökyi Drakpa, who also received their full ordination from this monastic vow lineage. All three of these monastic vow lineages belong to the Sarvastivada tradition. This is because, in Tibet, by royal decree, it was established that no other views or practices were permitted apart from the Madhyamaka view and the Sarvastivada conduct. Therefore, Jowo Je, being from the Mahasamghika school, was not requested to propagate his vow lineage, as indicated by this. C3. Third, on how the teaching lineage of upholding the scriptural Dharma arose, there are two parts: C1. General introduction to explanation and practice; C2. Specific explanation of the teaching lineages. C1. First, the means to uphold scripture and realization are explanation and practice. The holy Dharma, the doctrine, is encompassed by two aspects: scripture and realization. The methods for upholding these doctrines are established through the explanation and hearing of the scriptural Dharma, and by way of practicing the meaning heard in the realized doctrine, one must experience and uphold the thirty-seven factors conducive to enlightenment within one's own being. As the great master Vasubandhu stated: "The Teacher's doctrine is of two kinds: Its nature is scripture and realization. Those who uphold it (142b) are those who explain, And those who practice, truly." C2. Second, [explaining the specific teaching lineages] has three parts: J1. The common Mahayana teaching lineages; J2. The uncommon Secret Mantra teaching lineages; J3. A summary of the transmission of explanations. J1. First, there are four: N1. Vinaya; N2. Abhidharma; N3. Prajnaparamita; N4. How the Madhyamaka teaching lineage arose. N1. First, The Vinaya teaching lineage in the southern sacred land of India, The Sarvastivada commentaries, the two noble ones, Yon and Shakya, And the six spiritual friends, etc., widely propagated it. Regarding the initial account of the origin of the teaching lineage of the holy Dharma Vinaya, primarily in the southern sacred land of India, among the four main Hinayana root schools, each had its own Pratimoksha root text, bound by various languages such as Sanskrit. Each also had its own explanatory Vinaya, with four different Vinaya schools. It is said that the eighteen sub-sects derived from these four also possessed their own distinct root and explanatory texts. Here, all things...

According to the Vaibhashika tradition, regarding the sequence of the four divisions of the transmitted scriptures to be expounded and the circumstances of their subject matter, as desired by the Golden-colored Panchen Lama: The Vinaya Vibhanga, like a commentary on the words of the Pratimoksha Sutra. The Vinaya Kshudrakavastu, like explaining the general meaning of Pratimoksha through a detailed presentation of all subtle precepts. The Vinaya Mula, like supplementing what is incomplete. The Vinaya Uttara, like those that are extremely precious for definitively settling difficult points. Regarding the treatises that explain: The uncommon Vinaya of the Shravaka vehicle is famously explained by the Great Vibhasha. As for the Mahayana and common Vinaya, it was composed by Gunaprabha (Yon-tan 'Od), one of Vasubandhu's four disciples who surpassed him in wisdom, a Brahmin master residing in the Third Bhumi of luminosity. He systematically arranged the disordered four divisions of the transmitted scriptures and included them within the seventeen grounds (142b) in the Root Sutra of Vinaya. He also composed works such as the Karma Shatam, which compiles all the ritual acts. Furthermore, there are the "Garland of Flowers" by the Arhat Sagadeva, the "Fifty Verses" by the Kashmiri (Kashmir) Bhadanta Sanghabhadra, and the "Three Hundred Verses on Vinaya" with its commentary by Acarya Shakyamitra. Among these, Gunaprabha and Shakyamitra are especially renowned. It is said that Gunaprabha alone had about five hundred disciples who mastered the "Hundred Thousand Vinaya." Among them, Dharmamitra composed the extensive commentary on the Vinaya Root Sutra, which is considered authoritative in both India and Tibet. Additionally, many others, including Vimalamitra, Visheshamitra, Kalyanamitra, Gunamitra, and Shilabhadra, a total of six friends and others, extensively explained and propagated these teachings. In this land (Tibet), from Dana and Jina, Through the lineage of Cog-ro. From Guzur, the two traditions merged, giving rise to four sons. Gradually spread, like Tsona vast, like Gyalwa's Vinaya, like Chaja's, and so on, Many exalted ones emerged, leading to the Omniscient Buton. Buton received the teachings, performing the deeds of a second Buddha. In this snowy land (Tibet), from the two masters Dānaśīla and Jinamitra of the holy land (India), Cog-ro Klu'i rgyal-mtshan received the teachings. From him, the three (regions/lineages) Mar, Yo, and Tsang sought the teachings. They (Mar, Yo, Tsang) then transmitted them to the Great Lama Gong-pa rab-gsal. These four (Mar, Yo, Tsang, Gong-pa rab-gsal) then transmitted them to Klu-mes. Klu-mes then expounded them to gZus rDo-rje rgyal-mtshan. Again, from the two, Jina and Dana, the teachings were transmitted to Shākya se-na, Dharmapāla, the translator Klu-ba, and the two Kyog-'dul-'dzin. These two then transmitted them to gZus.
