Beings implored the Lord of Secrets (Guhyapati), and thus, the all-pervading Six Families (Buddhas) themselves appeared in the form of the Lord of Secrets. Previously, in Akanishtha, Tushita, and Trayastrimsa, these three abodes of gods, all renowned secret tantras were reiterated and taught. Therefore, the five pure families (or “five noble lineages”) are: The god Grags ldan mchog skyong; The Naga king 'Jog po; The Yaksha Skar mda' gdong (Star-arrow-faced); The Rakshasa Blo gros thabs ldan (Intelligent and Skillful); The human Licchavi Dri ma med par grags pa (Stainlessly Renowned). The twenty-three “Gatung Tzig” are: They originate from the third chapter of the `Spyi mdo dgongs 'dus` (General Sutra, Collected Intentions). Those (teachings) were by the Rakshasa Blo gros thabs ldan, Written down and then concealed in the sky by (supernatural) power. This is the Vidyadhara Symbol Lineage. Likewise, all the Yanas (vehicles/teachings) taught by the Lord of Secrets (Guhyapati), the Rakshasa Blo gros thabs ldan wrote them on golden folios with melted beryl (as ink), and then concealed them in the sky by the seven powers of intention (dgongs pa'i rtsal bdun). The seven powers of intention are: Intention for the perfection of golden tablets as the writing medium; Intention for the perfection of the tantras written with melted beryl; Intention for the marvel of treasure caskets made of various jewels as containers; Intention for the sky, indestructible by the four elements, as a supreme treasure place; Intention for the mothers (deities) and dakinis, possessing eyes of wisdom, as exceptional treasure guardians; Intention for the Dharma lord, King Jah, whose karma and faculties are supreme, to simultaneously realize liberation; Intention for the flourishing emergence of accomplished lineage holders, such as noble Bodhisattvas residing on the (Bodhisattva) grounds. Those (teachings) are called the Vidyadhara Symbol Lineage because their meaning can be fully comprehended merely through symbols. 3. Third, the Human Ear-Whispered Lineage is: At that time, from the appearance of his blessings, King Jah had seven dream omens appear. (Namely) the form of Vajrapani and the eighteen divisions of Tantras, Appeared again (spontaneously), and he gradually realized their meaning. Afterwards, it was transmitted and flourished through Kukkuraja and others. Furthermore, in the latter part of the `sDom 'byung gi rgyud` (Vajradhatu Tantra), it states: I shall no longer appear from here, After one hundred and twelve years, In the place known as the three abodes of gods, A supreme essence of the teaching In the eastern region of Jambudvipa…

Indeed, To the king renowned as Jah, Through the power of great merit, manifested, The Lord of Secrets (Guhyapati) will appear. In accordance with what was stated, when the Lord of Secrets (Guhyapati) taught the Dharma to the five families of disciples, from the manifestation of his blessings, King Jah of Sahor had seven wondrous dream omens (117b): As it is said: The signs of Body, Speech, and Mind dissolved, Precious texts descended, Dharma discourse took place, All was proclaimed sacred, Great offerings were made, Precious jewels fell like rain, And prophecy of attaining Buddhahood. In accordance with these dream omens, initially a one-cubit tall statue of Vajrapani was found. Relying on this, he practiced for seven months, whereupon the eighteen sections of great Tantra texts actually descended onto the top floor of the house. By practicing the chapter on the Vision of Vajrasattva, he beheld the face of Vajrasattva and received blessings. By purifying the aggregates (skandhas) through the generation stage (Kye-rim), the Lord of Secrets (Guhyapati) revealed his face, bestowed empowerment, and explained the Tantras. Having understood the meaning, it was successively transmitted to Acharyas Kukkuraja, Indrabodhi, Simharaja, and others, thus spreading the teachings. Contemporaneously with this, the three outer Tantra sections, etc., In Varanasi, Mount Gridhrakuta, Jvalamukhi (Burning Mountain), And in the forest of Anu Singhaladvipa, Texts actually descended, and Ati (Atiyoga) also, In Dhanakosha, was taught and written down by Vajrasattva to Garab Dorje, And many more emerged from other places. These are the ear-whispered transmissions of individuals. Contemporaneously with these, the three outer Tantra sections, etc., successively descended in various places: Kriya Tantras descended in Varanasi; Upayoga Tantras descended in Mount Gridhrakuta and the Cool Grove; Yoga Tantras descended on the summit of the Jvalamukhi Charnel Ground; Anuyoga Tantras, along with texts, actually descended in Singhaladvipa, renowned as the land of Lanka. According to the explanation of this tradition, the Atiyoga Tantras also, in Dhanakosha, a specific part of Oddiyana in the west, were directly taught by Vajrasattva to the great Acharya Garab Dorje and written down.
