In manifestation, in the central dense array, in the joyful east, in the jewel-adorned south, in the blissful west, and in the north where all deeds are accomplished—in these piled-up light palaces of the Five Buddha Family Pure Lands, the Teacher (114b), the Five Tathagatas, the Five Conquerors of the Five Families, bestowed the profound three empowerments upon their assembled retinue. Through this, the retinue realized the continuum of the expressed meaning, and for their own benefit, attained Buddhahood. Thereafter, when requests were made for the benefit of others, the Teacher's compassion arose. He then revealed the Dharma gate of the inner tantric path (Vajrayana) of skillful means, through the six modes of teaching—his enlightened intention as symbolic speech and verbal expression—to the retinue who abide in the status of regents (i.e., Bodhisattvas). Here, the six modes of teaching are: the body held upright, eyebrows raised, eyes gazing softly, mouth slightly open, the sense organ of the tongue extended from between the conch-white teeth, and speaking in a melodious Brahma-like voice. At that time, in the impure realms, six teachers manifested the Dharma gates of the common ground. At that time, in the abodes of the six classes of beings in the impure realms, six common foundational emanation teachers manifested. They then revealed and extensively opened infinite Dharma gates of the common path-vehicles to those disciples whose minds were impure and whose intellects were inferior. Furthermore, at those times, for the sake of fierce and unruly disciples such as the terrifying and wrathful Vajrabhairava, the glorious Heruka manifested, creating wrathful mandalas and revealing countless peaceful and wrathful forms as appropriate for their taming, as it is taught. Before the appearance of Buddhas in the pure realms, the Perfection of Wisdom and the three outer tantra sections were taught to the Vidyadharas who had attained the Dharma-congruent Sambhogakaya. Before the Buddhas appeared in the world, in the supreme pure realm of Akanistha, the Buddha manifested in the form of a great Sambhogakaya, adorned with the major and minor marks, consistent with the Dharma. To the immeasurable retinue of gods, accomplished ones, and Vidyadharas, he taught the Prajnaparamita vehicle that leads to all arising, and the three outer tantra sections of ascetic (115a) knowledge. 2. The second part [The Manner of Gathering the Retinue] is: through the indications and words arising from others' perceptions...

Tantra. \t\t\tVajra Dharma, the excellent one bearing a human skull, \t\t\tGathered by Dakini Purna, Near-zhi, and so forth. \t\t\tThe teachers who appear in the perceptions of others through compassion, by means of signs, caused others to understand merely through their perceptions; and the tantras that arose through being manifested closely as verbal expressions, like the sound of a drum and its echo, are: from among Guhyapati Vajra Dharma, the Brahmin human-skull-bearer, Dakini Purna, Near-zhi, and so forth, the pith instructions of the Great Perfection were definitively established in the nature of tantras by the royal lineage-holder Vajrasattva, and by the King Kunjara, the Vidyadhara of Anu Yoga, and so forth, encompassing all the bodily emanations, verbal signs, and mental intentions of the Buddhas, and gathered into the state of unseen Vidyadharas. Furthermore, these compilers themselves are one in nature with the self-manifestation of the primordial protector's great pristine wisdom, the Bhagavān Guhyapati. Therefore, the teacher and disciples are inseparable, and from the state of equal realization, these tantras were not compiled by other individuals. \t\t\t3. Third [How the Guardianship of the Teachings was Entrusted]: \t\t\tTo the three families of Ḍākinīs, those with the eye of Dharma, \t\t\tThe guardianship of the teachings was entrusted, in brief, of the three Kāyas. \t\t\tThe introductory discourse of the Teacher, the victorious ones' Mind Transmission. \t\t\tThese profound tantra collections were directly entrusted and commanded to the compilers, primarily Guhyapati, the three families of noble children (Bodhisattvas), and the mistresses of all samsara and nirvana—the Ḍākinīs who possess one body and many names, the great karmic empresses, along with the assembly of wisdom Ḍākinīs. Subsequently, through transmission, it was prophesied and the guardianship of the teachings was entrusted to the later generations of lineage holders who possess the eye of Dharma. \t\t\tFrom the Khedung (115b): \t\t\tTo the compilers and women, \t\t\tAnd to those with the eye of yoga, etc., \t\t\tThus it is said. \t\t\tIn summary, the explanation above means that the introductory discourse of the three Kāyas of the Teacher is associated with the sameness of realization, thus there is no Dharma to be taught and no teacher. However, through the power of pristine wisdom, it appears merely as a form, hence it is called the Mind Transmission of the Victorious Ones. \t\t\t2. Second, explaining the Vidyadhara Sign Transmission, there are two: 1. The Ati system. 2. The system of the two later Yogas. \t\t\t1. First, regarding this: \t\t\tDu
