Thus it is said, in the Ornament it says: For the sake of the arising of the image of wisdom. That mirror-like wisdom manifests all other wisdoms and all knowable things, yet has no self-grasping, is pervasive and uninterrupted, therefore is constantly present, is free from all obscurations, and has no confusion about all knowable things, therefore does not rely on the consciousness designated by meaning (121), because there is nothing it does not know, it understands all knowable things, and because it faces outward, it is not grasping either, as it says in the Ornament: Mirror wisdom has no I, Pervasive, uninterrupted, constantly present, Not confused about all knowable things, Constantly does not appear to it. Also, just as in the impure state, the alaya-consciousness acts as the basis for the mind, similarly, in the state of Buddhahood, mirror-like wisdom acts as the basis for the other three wisdoms, as it says in the Ornament: Mirror wisdom is unmoving, The three wisdoms rely on it, Equality and discriminating, Only accomplishing activities. Therefore, in order to be the cause of all wisdoms, like a great source of wisdom, is the Enjoyment Body Buddha. This is what is said in the Ornament. This mirror-like wisdom is called the Dharmakaya, and the reason for this is also stated in the Compendium of Vehicles: The completely pure Dharma of the Buddha is because the alaya-consciousness is transformed and the Dharmakaya is obtained. And also, in the glorious Sky (122) Go Gyatso Tantra it says: Alaya is mirror wisdom, That is the Dharmakaya. Therefore, the Dharmakaya is the ultimate wisdom of the Buddha's knowledge, all elaboration is pacified, the supreme wisdom without appearance, having attained the indivisibility of the realm of reality and wisdom. As it says in the Ornament of Wisdom Appearance Fire: Supreme wisdom is selfless, Without appearance, it is not seen. And, the Prajnaparamita that is unspeakable, unthinkable, and inexpressible, unborn and unceasing, is the nature of space, the object of the wisdom of individual self-awareness, I prostrate to the mother of the Buddhas of the three times. Thus it is said. The second also has two, what is to be purified and what purifies, explaining the wisdom of the purified result. The first is, afflictions and utterly destroyed, thus it is said, constantly with the alaya-consciousness as the object

It enters in the form of ego-clinging, which is pride, and is constantly associated with the four afflictions. Its nature is to obstruct the attainment of liberation and is characterized as the afflicted mind, which is indeterminate. Because afflictions can never steal it away, it is thoroughly destroyed by the samadhi that goes bravely like a lion. (123) From the place where there is no arising of the stain of delusion, the wisdom of equality will be attained. Its meaning is: in the path of learning, one meditates on the equality of self and others, so at the time of attaining Buddhahood, it is the wisdom that knows the equality of samsara and nirvana. The second is, it is called from the path of seeing and the path of meditation. It is said that the gross afflictions of conceptual imputation that look outward are abandoned by the path of seeing, and the subtle innate afflictions that look inward are abandoned by the path of meditation, so there are no afflictions. In the stage of the path, one cultivates the pure non-conceptual samadhi, and cultivates the peace that does not fall to either side of samsara and nirvana, and does not abide in the two extremes of existence and peace. Therefore, in the state of Buddhahood, one attains the cessation of suffering that is without existence and peace and does not abide in the two extremes, and therefore it is called the wisdom of equality. As it is said in the Ornament of Realization: "By the purity of meditation, for sentient beings, it is the wisdom of equality." Here, if we distinguish between what is to be abandoned by the path of seeing and the path of meditation, then what is to be abandoned by the path of seeing is the afflictions of conceptual imputation, namely the five views of the view of self, the view of extremes, the wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding ethical discipline as supreme, and the five of desire, anger, pride, (124) ignorance, and doubt. These ten act perversely in the four truths of suffering and origin, cessation and path, so there are forty in the desire realm. In the upper two realms, there is no anger, so it is nine times four equals thirty-six, divided into two groups, totaling one hundred and twelve. What is to be abandoned by the path of meditation is the innate afflictions of desire, anger, pride, ignorance, the view of self, and the view of extremes, which exist in the desire realm. In the upper two realms, anger is abandoned, so there are five each. They are also divided into the four dhyanas and the four formless absorptions, so there are eight in the upper realm, eight times five equals forty. Adding the six of the desire realm, it equals forty-six. Each of these is also divided into nine from the smallest to the largest, so it is four hundred and fourteen.
