I. (The mandala) has four doors and four steps, and is very magnificent. From the four golden belts on the walls and eaves, to the space between the necklaces and half-necklaces hanging from the mouths of makaras, it is adorned with garlands of flowers and so on, possessing the sun and moon, (323) bells, mirrors, and whisks. Between the lintels of the doors are supporting pillars, or it is adorned with eight pillars of the cloister. It possesses vajra threads, some say they are lines in four directions, some say they are vajra beams, and some say there are five lines, but the former considers it to be a vajra chain surrounded by lotus petals, encircling like a thread. The outer cloister or platform is symbolized by various flowers, emerging from wish-fulfilling trees and auspicious vases, and is adorned with this. On the cloth of desirable objects, there is black incense, red butter lamps, and similarly, there is yellow perfume. Symbolized by this are the sixteen goddesses holding offerings. The eight vases are drawn on the inner deity cloth, with two vases with decorations in each direction, and so on. This indicates the vases of the preparation stage. Depending on the situation, the number of vases can be decorated with branches of trees, etc., bearing fruit, and the necks are covered with silk scarves that do not fade, (324) and bound with thread. Inside, it is filled with five precious jewels, symbolizing that it is filled with five medicines, five grains, five spices, and five essences. This vase of complete victory is placed and offered outside the east gate. If there are other deity vases, they are placed in their respective directions, and the activity vase is placed in the northeast direction. The meaning of the mandala is: the square represents the equality of all dharmas, the five lights represent the five wisdoms, the four doors represent the four mindfulnesses, the magnificence represents subduing the four maras, the necklaces and half-necklaces represent purifying the root afflictions and near afflictions, the garlands of flowers, etc., represent the seven branches of enlightenment, the whisk represents the wisdom of the path, the eight pillars represent the eight liberations, the vajra thread represents the four immeasurables, the steps represent the four miraculous feet, and the flowers, etc., represent the pure nature of the mind of enlightenment. Secondly, starting from one's own intention. (The guru) uses "ཅན་" to insert (the deity). Because the activity line comes first, so the wisdom line is also by the guru...

I desire the chief deity and the youthful female friend, with all forms, the mandala (325) With a new thread that has not been used elsewhere, made of five-colored new cloth threads, well-arranged, without knots and evenly hung. The length should be twice the size of the mandala, and the thickness should be one-twentieth of the door's size. With beautiful threads of changing colors, the teacher and student, who are wise in understanding the ten aspects of thread work, should hang it with the proper ritual. The third is: From the wheel, like this here. It is said that at the beginning of engaging in the work of the mandala, during the time of practice by the teacher, the lord of the wheel, that is, the main father and mother, each recite their heart essence mantras one hundred thousand times. And for those with mandalas, for the father's nine goddesses and the mother's fourteen, similarly to the former, each recite their mantras ten thousand times. This is the practice of numbers. The mantra of Om Raksha Om Protection) itself, which was mentioned in the chapter on mantras above, should be used by the teacher, who is skilled in the order of actions, to purify the earth, the holder. The mantras of A Karo A Syllable) and so on above, should be used to offer tormas to the earth goddess and the earth lord. (326) Then, the meditation on the protective wheel, which was mentioned in the third chapter, should also be practiced here for the sake of protecting the earth. Meditate on the extensive and concise protection, as it is said in the root and explanatory tantras. When a student has successfully entered the mandala and received empowerment, it is extremely differentiated. Combine the preceding and following of this, and supplement the explanatory tantras and so on, and bestow it completely with the rituals of their respective mandalas. At the time of holding the earth, the teacher and the deity who accomplishes the mandala, and before each empowerment, offering and supplication should be done here as it is said in the root and explanatory tantras and their summaries. The fourth is: From the addition, below and above. It is said that the drawing of the mandala should be done well with the addition of two or more layers mentioned earlier, with one layer evenly measured. If it is delayed, obstacles will occur, so quickly draw the symbols of White Tara and so on at that time. How is it done? Here, it is a hand gesture, represented by drawing a curved knife in the east, the goddess in the father's mandala.
