And the way they are connected. It merely shows the dependent origination. The first part has two sections: the question and the answer. The first part is: From "Then" to "What is the nature?". It means that after the vows were spoken, all the yoginis, including the selflessness mother, asked the Bhagavan as follows: What are those objects to be held, which were mentioned above as the basis for practice? What are those who particularly empower actions by focusing on individual meanings? What causes the mind and mental events to arise, increase, and expand? What are the aggregates that are piled up with many substances? How much are the elements that have become the meaning of lineage? What is the nature of these objects and so on? Thus they asked. The second part is: From "Bhagavan" to "Are explained". It means that the Bhagavan gave the answer to the question. The Bhagavan said: The six objects to be grasped by the sense consciousness are: the object of the eye consciousness, twenty colors such as blue, or twenty-five colors; the object of the ear consciousness, eight or eleven sounds; similarly, the object of the nose consciousness, four or six smells; and the object of the tongue consciousness, six or twelve tastes; similarly, the object of the body consciousness, eleven or twenty-two tactile sensations; the object of the mind consciousness, the sixteen natures of the elements of conditioned and unconditioned phenomena. For these, the object to be grasped is said to be six. Here, the division of the object of form, twenty kinds etc., the former are according to the lower Abhidharma of the Lesser Vehicle, and the latter are explained according to the Compendium of the Great Vehicle. It also appears in the commentary Kaumudi, so I will just mention the names. The twenty-five forms spoken of in the Great Vehicle Abhidharma: blue, yellow, red, white, long, short, square, round, fine, coarse, smooth, not smooth, high, low, shadow, sun, light, darkness, cloud, smoke, dust, curved, place where it appears, representation, space is of one color. Sound is neither pleasant nor unpleasant. There are two kinds: perceived and unperceived, arising and not arising. There are two kinds each shown by worldly fame and established truth. Eleven kinds: imputed, non-noble, term, designation. Delicious and not delicious, equal and co-arisen. There are six kinds of smells arising from combination and transformation. Taste is sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, astringent. Pleasant and unpleasant, not both co-arisen.

And, adding what is produced by combination, there are twelve. What is touched is soft, rough, heavy, light, smooth, and loose. Non-loose, cold, hunger, thirst, satiety, weakness, large and small. Fainting, itching, trembling, as well as sickness, old age, death, fatigue. Rest, accumulated large, twenty-two in total. The realm of phenomena is assembled. (441) Born from aggregation, manifest, with opportunity present, born from truly taking. Conceptual, empowered, feeling, thought, formation, eight. What is not aggregated is good and non-good, and the suchness of the unstated, three kinds. Space, cessation, and meditative absorption without perception. Cessation by examination, non-examination, cessation, are said to be eight. Thus it is said. The faculties that are particularly empowered over objects are six. The eye faculty that is empowered over form is like an Utpala flower. The ear faculty that is empowered over sound is like a rolled-up blade of Kusa grass. The nose faculty that is empowered over smell is like a tilted copper needle. The tongue faculty that is empowered over taste is like a half-moon. The body faculty that is empowered over touch is like the soft skin of a bird. Regarding these, there are also views according to philosophical tenets, considering the object of the Alaya consciousness to appear as the five faculties, and considering it as a faculty, or considering it as a seed or potential, or considering it as having form, there are three kinds. The mind that is empowered over phenomena (442) The faculty is the six consciousness realms, and the afflicted mind. The term "suchness" means that just as the five sense consciousnesses have their own unique dominant conditions, similarly, the unique dominant condition of the sixth mind consciousness is the immediately preceding mind, which is the meaning explained for the six consciousness realms. Whichever consciousness is immediately after the cessation of the six, that is the mind. As it is said. Alternatively, there are those who consider the afflicted mind to be the mind, but when explaining the seventh mind, there is the seventh mind enveloped by the four afflictions, and the seventh mind enveloped by white dharmas such as generosity, and the seventh mind that does not belong to either of these two, which is the immediately preceding mind, there are also three classifications. Thus, these intervals of the non-abiding mind are considered to be the six faculties. These six are inseparably associated with the six, such as ignorance vajra. The six external objects, such as form, and the internal object-possessing eye faculty.
