This is the section explained by attachment, which is the explanation of the ninth chapter. Thus, the object to be cultivated, the Tathagatagarbha, the union of the two truths, is primordially pure. By binding the key points with the union of the two stages, it is manifested, and from this, the method of transforming it into the path is explained in two parts: the text of the chapter and the indication of the boundary. The first has three parts: brief explanation, detailed explanation, and summary of meaning. The first is: Thus, to be particularly superior. As explained earlier, the three inner channels, winds, and bindus also appear from the aspect of other minds, so they are the substance of mind. Although the nature of mind is neither samsara nor nirvana, due to the power of the purity and impurity of the channels, winds, and bindus that support the mind, they appear as samsara and nirvana. For this reason, the key point of transforming the impure body into a rainbow body, like the elixir of alchemy, is that these two stages are superior to all the stages of the path of the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and the Great Vehicle Paramitas, because the ultimate meaning of all of them is this Samadhi path, and ultimately, Buddhahood must rely on this path. Second, the detailed explanation is divided into two: the common path and the uncommon path. The first is divided into three: the path of the Hearers, the path of the Solitary Realizers, and the path of the Paramitas. The first is: From the individual to mere peace. As explained, the Hearers are divided by the Four Noble Truths, so abandoning the truths of suffering and origin, and relying on the thirty-seven branches of the path to realize the truth of cessation, is the common characteristic. The difference in their view is the realization of the selflessness of the individual, and the difference in their intention is to abandon the obscurations of affliction for the sake of attaining only the peace of nirvana for oneself. (151) What is done in between is the path of the Hearers. When enlightenment is attained by relying on this path, if speaking in terms of speed, one attains the stream-enterer fruit in one lifetime, the once-returner fruit in two lifetimes, the non-returner fruit in three lifetimes, and the Arhat manifests in the three existences. By karma and affliction, one takes the basis of three births, and manifests the inferior enlightenment. If it is extremely fast, one can also become a Buddha in one lifetime. The stream-enterer with seven existences, no matter how slow, is born in the desire realm by karma and affliction.

Furthermore, one takes seven existences and manifests inferior enlightenment. This taking seven births as gods and humans is according to the explanation of the Sutra School. The Vaibhashikas say that there are seven births as gods and seven as humans, with seven existences in between, making a total of twenty-one. However, since they are similar in dharma in groups of seven, they are considered seven existences. Arhats also have two types: with remainder and without remainder. The enlightenment manifested in this way is not complete enlightenment, but only the pacification of suffering for one's own benefit. Secondly, from the Pratyekabuddha, it is accomplished in a hundred. It is said that the nature of the faculties is medium, and relying on the path of the medium vehicle, due to the difference in view, one realizes the selflessness of the person and the selflessness of what is grasped, so one realizes one and a half selflessnesses, and because the thought is very arrogant, in a place without Buddhas and Shravakas, at the time of the last existence, without relying on the instructions of other teachers, one manifests one's own enlightenment, hence the Pratyekabuddha. Among them, the inner distinctions are: the difference between the ordinary being as a guide and the Shravaka as a guide, the two of gathering great or small accumulations are those with medium faculties and dull faculties, and the sharp faculties are like rhinoceros horns, there are three in total. Among them, the time to manifest one's own enlightenment is when the accumulation of merit is small, below the path of seeing, one accumulates merit for about twenty kalpas and then enters one's own enlightenment. The word "nas" is a restrictive aggregate word, so those who accumulate great merit need about fifty kalpas, and those like rhinoceros horns need to accumulate merit for a hundred kalpas, and in the next life they will achieve their own enlightenment. The enlightenment of the Pratyekabuddha is also one-sidedly peaceful. (152) Thirdly, from sentient beings, three countless. It is said that the Paramita vehicle is one who has the mind of aspiration and the mind of engagement, which benefit all sentient beings, and the wisdom that realizes the two selflessnesses that do not abide in the extremes of existence and peace. By practicing the six Paramitas on the path, one is said to attain enlightenment in three countless kalpas. It is only out of compassion that he remains countless for the sake of sentient beings, but it is not so for the accomplishment of his own benefit, but rather the aspect of miraculous power.
