Sixty-four and the secret have two levels. The sixteen outer channels, totaling eighty, cause diseases by disturbing the wind element. Although wind resides in the lower part, it is the nature of wind

Those are the fundamental channels. Among them, "dissolution" refers to the fact that the channels in the body have already completed their function with wind and bindu; "enjoyment" refers to the fact that they are currently functioning; "mastery" refers to the fact that they will function. The difference between these three causes the twenty-four channels to be multiplied by three, becoming seventy-two channels, which are the main ones. Moreover, each of these channels is divided into one hundred due to the difference between the five aggregates and the five elements, and when multiplied by the ten winds, the subtle circulation of the channels has thousands upon thousands, so there are seventy-two thousand channels. These main and branch channels are like a tree trunk that branches out into thousands upon thousands of branches and leaves. Here, it should be known that in essence, the flow of wind is dissolution, the falling of bindu is enjoyment, and the flow of blood is mastery. Seventh, regarding the subtle channels and which element produces them, there are two parts: explaining the subtle channels and explaining which element produces them. First part: from "therefore" to "functioning." It means that the pure union of the seventy-two channels in the Yogini Tantra, in addition to these seventy-two thousand channels, there are even more subtle channels. What are those? The meaning spoken in the Womb Treasury Sutra is summarized in the Self-Commentary: "There, the four parts of the body have five channels and forty branch channels, and each branch channel has one hundred sub-branches. In total, there are eighty thousand channels, and there are eighty thousand worms, filled with impure substances." Moreover, the Kalachakra says, "The subtle channels that penetrate the skin have three hundred and fifty million, and they jointly produce excrement such as hair and body hair, and these three hundred and fifty million pure elements exist in the wheel of the mandala." The Vajra Heart Commentary also says, "As many pores as there are, there are channels, there are three hundred and fifty million." Second part: from "these" to "three lineages." It means that the order of the elements of these channels is: the navel chakra is the earth element, the heart chakra is the wind element, so it is earth-wind skillful means and wisdom; the throat chakra is the fire element, the eyebrow chakra is the water element, so it is fire-water skillful means and wisdom; the crown chakra is the space element, and the secret place is the lineage of wisdom and bliss, so it is space-wisdom skillful means and wisdom. Because it is said to be two-two skillful means and wisdom, when practicing, visualize the chakras as if holding up umbrellas.

It is the extremely secret key of oral instruction. Similarly, the channels that pervade the ends of the hairs are also generated sequentially by the six elements. As stated in the Sutra of the Samadhi Sea of Buddha's Remembrance, at the time of attaining Buddhahood, the pores of the hairs appear as the nature of six kinds of precious jewels. Therefore, as the three, means and wisdom, are spoken of, all the channels are also the right Roma, the left Kyangma, and the central Uma. The distinction of these three transforms into the three channels of the body, speech, and mind families. In short, all the channels from the Uma to the ends of the hairs should be understood as the nature of six, five, four, three, and two elements. Third, the summary of the meaning: As it is said, "Thus, one will realize." Thus, relying on knowing the nature and characteristics of the channels, one will come to know the nature of the body, such as it is not a whole and not one. And, one will also come to know the characteristics of the body in the conventional truth, that is, one will know that the self, which is permanent, single, and independent, and so on, is empty of true existence, and that this appearance of all the channels is a manifestation of the Nirmāṇakāya with defilements. Second, the title of the chapter: In the commentary on the words explaining the profound inner meaning, this is the section that extensively explains the channels of the body, it is the explanation of the third chapter. The channels spoken of in this way are also accomplished by wind, and because wind flows in the channels, and in order to emphasize the importance of wind, it is necessary to thoroughly understand the various establishments of wind in a reversed manner. The extensive explanation of wind is divided into two parts: the text of the chapter and the title of the chapter. The first part is divided into three: the concise statement, the extensive explanation, and the summary of the meaning. The first part is: from "Then" to "Here it will be explained." Thus it is said, a commitment is made to explain. What is to be explained? The nature of wind and so on. In what context is it explained? After explaining the chapter on channels, it will be explained here in the fourth chapter. In what way is it explained? Explaining what letter is the nature of wind, and the location where it resides, and the functions of the root and branch winds, and the way they flow inside and outside, and the order of strength and weakness, combining with the planets, and the movement of wind, and the method of holding wind, and the faults and qualities of wind, and that all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are the nature of wind.
