Among the five, the first, regarding non-existence, there are also four: unraveling the key points, sealing the crucial points, binding into vows, and averting. Among these, demonstrating that all phenomena are without substance and characteristics is, therefore, demonstrating the state of having no beginning. The nature of non-existence is emptiness by its very essence. In the vast expanse of the mind of enlightenment, which is like space, however it may appear, it has no inherent nature. The essence of awareness and all the phenomena that appear within it are primordially empty and selfless, so all elaborations are completely pacified and there is no birth. As it is said in "The All-Illuminating Bindu": "Awareness is without substance, peaceful, Elaborations are without substance or characteristics." Thus, the example and meaning of non-existence are certain: Just as in the vast expanse of the sky, whatever changes of the vessel and essence elements appear, that empty form has no inherent nature, so too are the phenomena that appear in the mind of enlightenment. Although the formation and destruction of the world appear in the sky, the appearance has no essence in the state of the sky, so it has no inherent nature. The appearing four elements, their formation and destruction, have no true inherent nature, and although the atoms have no parts, the support and the supported phenomena are not established in reality. Similarly, all the phenomena that appear in awareness and its state have no inherent nature. As it is said in "The All-Creating King": "Therefore, all appearing existence, vessel and essence, Just like not abiding in the state of the sky, The great expanse of the mind of enlightenment is a vast realm, Even though all Buddhas and sentient beings, vessel and essence, abide, All are the nature of completely pure Dharma, Non-dual, free from all exaggerations and denigrations." Now, demonstrating that the phenomena appearing to awareness have no inherent nature: Just as whatever appears in a magical illusion, Its empty nature has no substance, Likewise, all appearing phenomena, From the very moment of appearance, Have not moved from the mind of enlightenment, and have no substance. Thus, all appearing vessel worlds, and whatever sentient beings of existence appear, are without inherent nature like the vessel and essence of a magical illusion. There is no separation or movement from the state of awareness. As it is said in "The All-Creating King": "All appearing existence, vessel and essence, samsara and nirvana, all phenomena, Have not moved from the mind of enlightenment, their nature is without." Thus, demonstrating that the appearing phenomena have not moved from the state of spontaneously present awareness: Just as a dream does not move from sleep, From the moment of appearance, there is no inherent nature.

Thus, the nature of appearance, existence, samsara, nirvana, and bodhicitta is unmoving as it is, without the characteristics of things. Just as the realm of dreams and beings such as humans do not move from the nature of sleep, all the phenomena of the six realms' self-appearance do not move from the realm of awareness. All the phenomena of the three bodies' pure appearance also do not move even slightly from the realm of awareness, which is free from grasping and fixation. In the meeting of the three bodies, it is said: "The six types of beings, the four modes of birth, arise from the realm of dharma and go into the realm. The appearance of grasping and fixation, objects and mind, as different, grasps in the realm of dharma and fixates in the realm. In the nature of the realm itself, there is no grasping or fixation. The knowledge of the Buddhas of the three times also arises from the realm of dharma and knows in the realm. Knowledge is unceasing, the knowable is the nature of the realm of dharma. The meeting of the three bodies is the expanse of self-arising and self-liberation." So it is said. Although the outer realm appears, in reality it is not mind and is not established as other. Thus, although all phenomena appear in the mind, they are not mind and are not other than mind. Because of the nature of illusion, which is the appearance of non-existence, it is already beyond words, thoughts, and expressions. Therefore, all phenomena that appear in the mind should be known as non-existent at the very moment of their appearance. The appearance of the five objects such as form, and the phenomena of the container and its contents appearing as self-nature, are not other because they appear in the mind. Although they appear as other, they are not established as other because they are without self-nature like dreams and illusions. They are also not established as mind, like the eight examples of illusion. In the empty form of the appearance of non-existence, by analyzing atoms with and without parts, the equality of the absence of self in phenomena is known. One should know that the nature of mind itself is the self-appearing aspect, the realm of emptiness without change. In the All-Creating King, it is said: "By the power of the branch phenomena, seek the realm of the essential. Enjoy it with the means of not discriminating any aspect. Because the essence arises from its own nature, the dharmakaya is not elsewhere. Count in one atom, and be separated from all directions and parts. The meaning of non-abiding is the self-arising of excellent wisdom. In all appearances, in the non-discriminating vast essence, if one enters that pure path, one obtains the kingdom of equality. Because it is unchanging and without alteration, there is no place for attachment. Likewise, there is no object to be grasped, and no place for the mind to dwell." So it is said. If so, everything is mind.
