It is enjoying the inexhaustible treasure. Thus it is said. In the Thallgyur, it says: A lama who is perfect in qualities is the source of all qualities. It is the basis for complete enlightenment. Thus it is said. Incidentally, the lama to be abandoned, in Rangshar it says: Ignorant and arrogant, foolishly following words, not thinking about the meaning of secret mantras, cutting off the meaning of others with words, entering the wrong path, not seeing the mandala of empowerment, vows broken, not answering questions, narrow-minded and arrogant, an unexamined teacher is the demon of the disciple, not a teacher who teaches secret mantras, cannot teach Dzogchen Ati. Do not associate with him. Thus it is said, should be abandoned. How to impart the instructions is: Examine all vessels and gradually give the key points. Those who are not vessels should be kept very secret. Seal with a seal and hide the entrusted seal tightly. The lama examines the disciple's vessel, and after letting him practice for years and months, gradually gives the key points, not all at once. If a non-vessel chatterbox gets it all at once, the teachings will be confused and the blessings will disappear. Even if it is a vessel, there is a fault because the practice is not mature and doubts arise about the Dharma. In the Time Key Examination written by Master Padma, it says: It is not all at once, but gradually. Examine the vessels and give them well, and hide the instructions from those who are attached to this life. Thus it is said. If it is a vessel, then there is respect for the Dharma, so ask with offerings and service. Although there is no desire for wealth, it is known by the actions of the other party. Non-vessels have no purpose other than chatterbox offerings, so it is the only dependent arising. In Kunjye, it says: Examine in advance, to examine faith. With precious wealth and respectful vessels. Do not teach the King of Kunjye to those who are attached, arrogant, and uncertain of others' minds. Thus it is said. Therefore, teach those who are vessels and keep secret those who are not vessels. In Rangshar it says: The meaning of the Dzogchen instructions should not be poured into bad vessels. If some essence of those who have faith is poured into bad vessels, then both the essence and the non-essence will be ruined. Therefore, keep it secret from those who are inferior in intelligence. The way to keep it secret is to keep the profound teachings secret from those who are inferior in intelligence.

This teaching should not be contemplated with the mind, its words should not be spoken aloud, and its texts should not be handed over. The secret seal should be strictly applied to both suitable and unsuitable recipients, and those who are suitable should be instructed to conceal the entrustment seal of the teaching. The essence of what is instructed is as follows: To the supremely fortunate heart-sons, the essence of the definitive meaning should be entrusted and revealed. Here, there are two aspects: the teaching itself and the object to whom it is entrusted. The first is that awareness is bodhicitta, which demonstrates the way to transcend cause and effect and effort, namely, to ascertain through view and to settle through contemplation. Among these, the first is that whatever appears in the face of awareness is not tainted by awareness and has no benefit or harm. It transcends cause and effect, virtue and vice, and is the great perfection of utter transparency and single completion. As it is said in the Kunje Gyalpo (All-Creating King): "Unthinking space is the dharmakaya. I am unthinking, without acceptance or rejection. Without acceptance or rejection, it is like space. Just as space has no acceptance or rejection, Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra) has no acceptance or rejection. Without acceptance or rejection, it is absorbed into me." Thus it is. The essence is without cause and effect, as it also says in that text: "Enlightenment is the nature of space. In space, there is no cause and effect." And as it is said in the Singe Tsal Dzog (Lion's Perfect Power): "Virtue does not realize the meaning of the Buddha. If virtue realizes the meaning of the Buddha, the abiding nature of Dzogchen becomes false. Vice does not cause one to fall into samsara. If vice causes one to fall into samsara, self-arisen wisdom becomes false." Thus it is. The clarification of this connection is: That the lower vehicles teach that virtue and vice exist is because they themselves have not realized the true meaning, and by clinging to what seems to exist, they are deluded, and thus virtue and vice appear. But in the nature of bodhicitta, there is no virtue or vice. It is like when one is afflicted with a fever, whatever deluded appearances arise, they do not exist in reality. The example of phenomena of arising and ceasing is that in the unborn, there is nothing to be taken up. Just as the example of a sprout arising from a seed is that there is nothing to be taken up in space. The example of cause and effect being a delusion is that one should know that in the essence of the meaning of mind itself, there is nothing to be taken up. As it is said in the Kunje Gyalpo (All-Creating King): "Since the Great Perfection is primordially beyond cause and effect, there is no accomplishment through searching and striving. The teacher who sees cause and effect as the view prophesies, setting limits on the phenomena of the world of signs, searching for cause and effect and striving to obtain the fruit. In mind itself, there is no cause and no fruit from the beginning. In bodhicitta, there is no birth."
