From (a certain place), in the Dharma-nature Bodhi of no meditation, there is no duality of meditation and what is to be meditated upon. If one places it in the unmeditated self-nature, it is meditation. The ultimate truth is that all meanings are unborn. After recognizing the characteristics of discursive thoughts as they are, all the movements of memory and thought in the mind, without distraction from the state of unbornness, no matter how one thinks, if one knows it is meditation, then even if one places it without meditation, there is no distraction. Thus it is said. Also, from the "Six Spaces," it is said, in the mind-essence without memory, the self-purifying appearance that moves is called meditation, which is self-liberated from grasping. I, Samantabhadra, have taught this. Thus it is said. To restrain and bind in the non-duality of abiding and moving: In the self-time when object and mind are inseparable and equal, place it in self-extinction, without trace, and without object of focus. The nature is clear, and the wisdom of insight is clear, surpassing the meaning. From protecting the previous two, the clarity of object and mind being inseparable arises naturally. By focusing the eyes and consciousness intently on the appearance, it becomes clear within, self-extinguished without trace. In the perfection of the lion's strength, it is said, when clear awareness of Dharma-nature looks outward at the object, the awareness free from various impurities is seen within. When self-awareness looks outward at multiple objects, it is found within the great, non-conceptual Dharmakaya. Thus it is said. The way to restrain and bind is, from the "Great Garuda," it is said, the essential point of the great, unsearched expanse of non-action is to restrain body and speech in the space between appearance and emptiness. Thus it is said. From the "All-Creating King," it is said, because there is no action, one does not engage in laborious activities. Because there is no object of focus, one is free from the concept of meditation. Because there is no joining or separation, do not forget it in your mind. Thus it is said. From the "Six Spaces," it is said, in the mind-essence without acceptance or rejection, the appearance of impartial self-liberation is called the vast and expansive intention. I, Samantabhadra, have taught this. Thus it is said. The meaning of these is gathered: Because three essential points are restrained and bound on one essence, realization and non-realization are equal from the beginning. The non-duality of object and mind is equal in the Dharmakaya. The non-duality of confusion and non-confusion is equal in intention. Without interruption, one seizes the self-ground of meaning. Without abandoning or placing, one finds the essential point of certainty. Without going or coming, one abides in the intention of Dharma-nature. One awakens on the ground of immutability. Because the non-duality of object and mind in the appearance of letting be is equal, one finds the intention without abandoning or placing. The movement of awareness in letting be arises as Samadhi, realization and non-realization are equal, that is, without going or coming.
