|| The unfixed, spontaneously present appears as the ground. Because awareness is utterly clear and complete as one, it is connected with the essence itself in the gateway of pure wisdom. Because the manner of arising is without cessation, it arises from the aspect of pervasive appearance, even as the gateway of impure samsara, as the source of beings. All of these appear as eight manifestors. Because it arises spontaneously in the manner of arising, it is called the appearance of spontaneous presence, appearing like a jewel. Thus it is said. The teaching that spontaneous presence is without effort or striving is as follows: The basis for the spontaneous presence of all kinds of phenomena is the mind of enlightenment, which is always spontaneously present. Therefore, the three kayas are not to be sought; they are inherently present within oneself. Because there is no need for effort in relation to cause and effect, virtue and vice, it is called self-abiding, non-action yoga. In the realm of spontaneous presence, without acceptance or rejection, without effort, do not make effort now for the dharma that is already complete. Because the qualities are inherently established in the essence of awareness, there is no need for effort now. Because there is no cause and effect of virtue and vice, it does not depend on the effort of acceptance and rejection. If one does, it will never be accomplished, and it will become devoid of self-arisen wisdom. Therefore, one should realize that self-abiding is the great exhaustion of dharma. As it says in the Kunjed Gyalpo: 'The past does not depend on objects, therefore, one does not create from cause, one does not desire result. That intention without desire will become naturally spontaneously present. It is inherently so, there is no need to do. Because the meanings are as they are, without movement, there is no need to accomplish what is as it is. Because all dharmas are naturally spontaneously present, even the Buddhas of the three times, do not bestow teachings of effort and accomplishment. If one seeks, what samadhi does one seek? It will not be accomplished; samadhi becomes a great disease.' Thus it is said. Kunjed Gyalpo: 'I am inherently already done, therefore, do not show teachings to all that need to be done now. The retinue will become seized by the disease of effort. It will become the fault of lacking self-arisen wisdom. Likewise, it will become the fault of fabricating from Suchness. When truth is deceived by falsehood and defiled, the non-action will not be accomplished by inappropriate effort.' Thus it is said. The teaching of non-action as spontaneous presence is as follows: Even the enlightenment of all the victorious ones of the three times is spontaneously present as self-abiding great bliss. Therefore, do not rely on the dharma of inferior conditions of cause and effect. Look to the nature of non-action, like the sky. The great spontaneous presence of the Buddha of the meaning of awareness is self-abiding, without fabrication or defilement.

Merely seeing it in its own place, it is not accomplished by striving and practicing. As the All-Creating King says: "Even the Buddhas of the past, Did not seek to transform it outside of their own minds. They never tried to alter what is as it is. They never meditated on conceptual samadhi. It is accomplished by the non-conceptual nature of one's own mind. Those who are present now and those who will come in the future, Will also be accomplished by non-conceptual equality." Thus it is. All the teachings of cause and effect should be applied to those of inferior fortune who have small minds and view the teachings as wrong. They should not be applied to those of excellent fortune and great yogis. Just as polishing wood does not make it into a jewel, so too, taking and rejecting cause and effect does not lead to Buddhahood. As the All-Creating King says: "Therefore, the Great Perfection that transcends cause and effect, Is not the practice of those of inferior fortune. One should practice the teachings of cause and effect." And: "For those who are without karma and of small fortune, Even if shown openly without concealment, they will not understand. They will be seized by the poison of striving for cause and effect. Whoever desires a precious jewel, Just as polishing wood does not transform it. For those of good karma, fortunate, and great yogis, There is no need for view, samaya, activity, path-taking, bodhicitta, cause and effect, meditation, practice, or antidote. Seeing the ultimate and relative as non-dual, That is seeing the suchness of mind. For such a one, that is the necessary need." Thus it is. It is taught that since it is primordially spontaneously present, there is no need to accomplish it now: Since it is as it is, there is no need to accomplish it now. In that great spontaneously present state that is primordially unmade, Cut off all hopes and fears of arising and ceasing mind. Know it in the spontaneously present sphere without seeking. Just as when the sun is present, there is no need to accomplish clear light, so too, when awareness is present, the dharmakaya is already accomplished, so there is no need to accomplish it later through effort. As the All-Creating King says: "Without abiding, without conceptualizing, without needing anything, The self-nature abides in the realm of non-conceptual equality. It is primordially accomplished, the mind of striving does not arise. Where does that great bliss abide? It becomes the essence of all phenomena." Thus it is. Gathering the meaning into the essence of the three kayas as spontaneously present, beyond hope and fear: Howsoever all phenomena appear, Their essence, self-nature, and compassion are not
