There are two ways to abandon these abandonments. Through the gradual path, the fifteen moments of the path of seeing abandon the abandonments to be seen eight times. With the forbearance of the Dharma-knowledge of suffering, the ten wrong views of the truth of suffering in the desire realm are actually abandoned through the path of arising transformation. With the Dharma-knowledge of suffering, these ten are abandoned in a way that extends them. With the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge of suffering, the eighteen wrong views of the truth of suffering in the two upper realms are actually abandoned, and with the subsequent knowledge, they are abandoned in a way that extends them. The way to abandon the remaining three truths is also the same as this. Through the sudden path, the way to abandon the abandonments to be seen four times in the fifteen moments of the path of seeing is in accordance with the Bodhisattva. In this path of seeing, there are seven limbs of enlightenment, namely: mindfulness, discrimination of Dharma, diligence, joy, serenity, samadhi, and equanimity, which are the seven limbs of perfect enlightenment. Then the path of cultivation arises, which is divided into small, medium, and large, each of which is divided into small of small, medium of small, large of small, small of medium, medium of medium, large of medium, small of large, medium of large, and large of large, which are the nine antidotes to be abandoned. Also, the three of large, medium, and small are reversed, and divided into nine such as large of large. As the Treasury of Knowledge says: "The faults of ground and ground are nine, likewise the qualities are also nine, due to the difference of small, medium, and large, therefore small and so on are different." That is to say, the nature of the nine grounds, that is, the nine paths of cultivation of the antidotes, also cultivate the eight noble paths, namely: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right samadhi, which are the eight limbs of the noble path. Similarly, one cultivates the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, the formless, the infinity of space, the infinity of consciousness, nothingness, the four realms of neither perception nor non-perception, and the nine successive abidings of cessation, etc. At times, one also focuses on the general characteristics in order to attain what has not been attained.

Meditate. In some cases, meditation is practiced in order to perfect attainment. The defilements to be abandoned in those realms are also of a co-emergent nature, gathered from definitive ascertainment. Co-emergent ones are those of individual children, and even animals and birds. From the perspective of essence, there are four: desire, anger, pride, and ignorance. The Treasury states: "The four are to be abandoned by cultivation." From the perspective of realms, there are four in the desire realm, and three each in the two upper realms, totaling ten. From the perspective of grounds, there are four grounds in the desire realm, four in the meditative concentration realm, and four in the formless realm, totaling eight grounds, with three each added, totaling twenty-eight. From the perspective of grounds and magnitude, there are the desire realm, the four meditative concentrations, and the four formless realms. In these nine grounds, desire is divided into three: great, medium, and small, each further divided into three, totaling nine. Similarly, there are nine types of pride, nine types of ignorance, and one type of anger in the desire realm, totaling two hundred and fifty-two. The Treasury states: "The four are to be abandoned by cultivation, except for anger, their entities are the same, the form realm and formless realm are also like that." So, how are these to-be-cultivated abandonments abandoned? They are abandoned simultaneously with the cessation of the ground, thus abandoned by cessation-transformation. The same treatise states: "The mind of the non-learner transforms into arising, from obscurations it transforms into liberation, by the path of cessation-transformation, its obscurations are completely abandoned." That is, by the sudden path, the to-be-cultivated abandonments of the three realms are combined and abandoned, that is, the smallest of the small of the cultivation path ceases, and the greatest of the great of the to-be-cultivated abandonments ceases without cause simultaneously. By the gradual path, in the nine grounds, there are nine to-be-cultivated abandonments, which are gradually abandoned. Thus, after the completion of the path of cultivation, the two wisdoms of the knowledge of exhaustion of results and the knowledge of non-arising are manifested. The same treatise states: "Exhaustion and non-arising knowledge, is called enlightenment." That is, suffering should be known, origination should be abandoned, cessation should be manifested, and the path should be relied upon. Knowing in this way is the knowledge of exhaustion. The same treatise states: "Exhaustion knowledge, from all truths, complete knowledge."
