The discipline arising from aspiration, guarding the doors of the senses, knowing the measure of food, not sleeping during the upper and lower parts of the night but diligently engaging in yoga, taking joy in abiding with mindfulness regarding what should be adopted and abandoned, not regretting virtuous deeds, and other virtuous qualities such as joy, faith, and devotion that become the cause of liberation, as well as those gathered by the wisdom arising from hearing, thinking, and meditating, which are suitable for generating the path of application. If divided, there are three types of the path of accumulation: small, medium, and large. The small one is when one begins to enter the beginning of the three countless eons that are the cause of attaining Buddhahood, and the time when the path of application arises is not definite during the time of meditating on the four mindfulnesses. As it is said in the Compendium of Vehicles: "Those with the power of goodness and aspiration, with steadfast minds and superior conduct, Bodhisattvas constantly strive for countless great eons, as it is said." Thus it is. The medium one is when one meditates on the four right abandonments, and the time when the path of application arises is definite from the next life onwards. The large one is when one meditates on the four legs of miraculous power, and the path of application is certain to arise in that very life. Among the five special qualities, the special quality of the antidote is that seeing faults in conditioned phenomena with outflows is the antidote that can refute them. The special quality of abandonment is that having seen the faults of conditioned phenomena with outflows, one abandons manifest attachment. The special quality of realization is that with the wisdom of hearing and thinking, one mostly realizes the two selflessnesses in a general way, and there is also realization arising from meditation, as the Compendium of Topics says: "Wisdom arising from meditation is also acceptable." The special quality of merit is that the mind is pliable and capable, having grasped the beginning of the path to enlightenment, and the mind abides in samadhi, tranquility, and insight, and so on. Through this power, one obtains clairvoyance and supernormal powers, and it is said that one hears instructions from the emanation body of the Buddha, as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "At that time, in the stream of Dharma, in order to obtain the tranquility and vast wisdom of the Buddhas, one goes to all the realms of the world, and there one perfects all the gatherings and also obtains vast instructions." Thus it is. The special qualities of the instructions to be meditated on have two aspects: common and specific. The first

In general, on the three paths of accumulation, preparation, and seeing, one should remember the discipline that focuses on the actions of body and speech, the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating that focuses on the words and meanings of the scriptures, as well as the four seals of Dharma, the five factors of liberation, the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha, discipline, generosity, the body, death, birth, and the movement of breath in and out. The method of meditating on the four seals is to generate the mind of enlightenment and then contemplate that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, that the nature of samsara with defilements is suffering, that all phenomena are without self, and that nirvana is peace, and then dedicate the merit. Similarly, one should contemplate the impermanence of one's own and others' lives, remember death, and contemplate the nine aspects of the impurity of the body, the eight thoughts of a great person, and the complete purification of the field of practice. Among these, the Dharma for purifying actions is to contemplate the common antidote to the three poisons, as stated in the "Sutra Requested by Bhadrapala": "When desire is strong, reverse it by contemplating the impure, blood, flesh, skin, bones, and skeletons. Quench anger with the water of love and compassion, and dispel ignorance with the path of dependent origination." The nine impure contemplations are: contemplating the corpse as swollen, worm-eaten, blood-red, bluish, blackened, eaten, scattered, burned, and rotten. The eight thoughts of a great person are: When will I be able to eliminate the suffering of sentient beings? When will I be able to place sentient beings afflicted by poverty in great wealth? When will I be able to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings with this body of flesh and blood? When will I be able to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings even by dwelling in hell for a long time? When will I be able to fulfill the wishes of sentient beings with the great wealth of the world and beyond? When will I be able to become a Buddha and definitely liberate sentient beings from suffering? And a life that does not benefit sentient beings, and indulging in ultimate delicacies, and words that do not satisfy all people, and a livelihood that does not benefit others, and possessing body, wisdom, wealth, and power, etc.
