I, with the wisdom that sees the nature of reality, and the mandala of immeasurable loving-kindness expanded, am able to accomplish the benefit of others. Thus, this arises from hearing, with joy and reverence like a teacher, wisdom, awareness, and great compassion arise. For the sake of generating the five dharmas, from this, like a flawless mirror, possessing faultless qualities, making oneself and sentient beings equal, one quickly attains Buddhahood. Thus it is said. This establishment of lineage should not be regarded as provisional, but should be understood as definitive. This topic is greatly cherished in the Mahayana tradition and is difficult to realize, which is why it is explained extensively here. The second topic, how those with lineage generate the mind, has three aspects: understanding the nature of generating the mind, how to generate it after understanding, and the order of what to protect and learn. The first has two aspects: the basis and the nature. The first, according to the Mind-Only school, possessing the seven types of individual liberation vows is considered the basis of the body, as the "Lamp for the Path" says: "Those who possess the seven types of individual liberation vows, and constantly possess other vows, have the potential for the bodhisattva vows, otherwise not." Thus it is said. According to the Madhyamaka school, even gods, nagas, and others who have faith in the Mahayana and desire to attain Buddhahood can generate it, as the "Eight Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom" says: "At that time, the son of the gods, Nikri, generated the mind for unsurpassed enlightenment." And the "Ocean King's Questions Sutra" says: "Twenty-two thousand nagas generated the mind for enlightenment," and so on. And the "Intermediate Perfection of Wisdom Sutra" says: "At that time, countless gods, nagas, asuras, garudas, kimnaras, and mahoragas generated the mind for unsurpassed enlightenment." The basis for the mind that has already been generated and abides can be any of the five realms of beings. As the "Bhadrakalpa Sutra" says: "When the Victorious One, wishing for benefit, became a householder, to that Tathagata Sonam O, after taking the vow to abstain from killing for one day, he first generated the mind for supreme enlightenment." Thus it is said. If one asks whether the basis for generating the mind requires individual liberation vows, this is the generation of the mind according to the Madhyamaka school, but merely abstaining from killing for one day is not an individual liberation vow.

Nala, it is not said that Bodhicitta arises solely based on that virtuous root. The basis of thought is possessing exceptional merit and wisdom, such as faith. Secondly, nature has three aspects: essence, cause, and effect. The first has three aspects: definition, classification, and individual meanings. Firstly, what is Bodhicitta on the Mahayana path? The definition is: it can be called the name of Bodhicitta, the desire to attain perfect enlightenment for the benefit of others, encompassed by aspiration and action Bodhicitta, and which becomes the essence of the six perfections. As stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization: "For the sake of others, desiring perfect enlightenment, is Bodhicitta." There are seven classifications. Classifying from two aspects, as stated in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "Bodhicitta, in brief, should be known as twofold: aspiring Bodhicitta and engaging Bodhicitta." The Nirvana Sutra also states: "By the difference of conventional and ultimate, Bodhicitta is twofold, like the sound of Simhanada." Classifying from three aspects, according to the order of the three trainings: purifying is the training of discipline, abiding is the training of mind, liberating is the training of wisdom, these are the three forms of the three minds. Classifying from four aspects, those in the accumulation and preparation stages have the Bodhicitta of aspiring conduct, those from the seventh ground down to the first ground have the Bodhicitta of higher intention, those in the pure three grounds have the Bodhicitta of fruition, and those in the Buddha ground have the Bodhicitta of abandoning obscurations. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Bodhicitta in the grounds, aspiration, higher intention, and purity, fruition and others are said, thus the two obscurations are abandoned." Classifying from five aspects, these are the five Bodhicittas of the five paths. Classifying from six aspects, these are the six of the six perfections. As stated in the Madhyamakavatara: "The six Bodhicittas corresponding to the six perfections, with what do they correspond?" Classifying by ground, using metaphors to represent twenty-two types. As stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization: "Earth, gold, moon, fire, treasure, jewel, source, ocean, vajra, mountain, medicine, friend, wish-fulfilling jewel, sun, dragon, king, treasury, great road, vehicle.
