As it is, The three lineages of the three vehicles also exist in the three, and are also established in the thirteen types of practice stages, and so on. The nature of mind, the single essence, in terms of the lineage of meaning, is without good or bad, and exists universally, so it is all-pervasive. On top of that, the different names are established according to the different temporary vehicles, and the differences between the higher and lower levels of the paths, just as the name of the same vase changes depending on what is poured into it. The Ornament of Clear Realization says: "By the distinctions of the dependent dharmas, its distinctions are fully expressed." It is also like that. That is to say, the lineage of the clear light of the essence, for the good and bad of beings, the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, Buddhas, and so on, all the appearances of the noble ones, high and low, good and bad, exist without good or bad, increase or decrease, in place, time, and essence. For example, pottery, wooden utensils, and precious utensils, and so on, appear as different good and bad, but the sky inside those utensils has no good or bad. The Uttaratantra says: "Just as the non-conceptual nature, like the sky, follows everywhere, the stainless essence of mind, likewise goes everywhere. This is the definite characteristic of the common, and the ultimate quality is pervasive, the inferior, intermediate, and supreme forms are like the sky." It is also like that. The appearance of good and bad is the difference between being liberated and not being liberated from defilements. Even ordinary beings who are obscured by the great darkness of ignorance have only a small portion of qualities. From the Hearers and Solitary Realizers who have thinned out a little defilement, the qualities of the Arhats become noble, but they also appear as noble because the Bodhisattvas who have attained the paths, who are more superior than them because they have not abandoned all the obscurations of knowledge, and the Buddhas who are free from all obscurations appear as noble. If we follow this way, the Arhats of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers only temporarily rest from the suffering of samsara, and are not considered to have the nature of Nirvana. It says in the same text: "Why is this the Dharmakaya Tathagata, this is the ultimate Nirvana of the truth of the noble ones, therefore, like the sun and rays, the qualities are inseparable, there is no Nirvana except for the Buddhas." And "Therefore, before attaining Buddhahood, Nirvana cannot be attained, abandoning light and rays, like not being able to see the sun." It is also like that. Third, there are three distinctions from the perspective of metaphor and meaning.

Detailed differentiation of the meaning of metaphors, relating these to the Dharma, and showing their essence. First, as stated in the final teachings, explained in all treatises on the true definitive meaning, in the "Praise of Dharmadhatu": Just as when mixed with milk, the essence of butter is not visible, similarly when mixed with afflictions, the Dharmadhatu is also not seen. Just as when milk is purified, the essence of butter becomes pure, similarly when afflictions are purified, the Dharmadhatu becomes extremely pure. Just as a butter lamp inside a vase, it is not possible for it to appear even slightly, similarly inside the vase of afflictions, the Dharmadhatu is also not seen. From whatever direction, holes are made in the vase, from that very direction, the nature of light will appear. When that vase is broken by the vajra of samadhi, at that time it illuminates to the very end of the sky. Just as a precious beryl gem, is always bright and clear, but if it is situated inside a stone, its light is not clear. Similarly, the extremely pure Dharmadhatu, obscured by afflictions, its light is not clear in samsara, its light becomes clear in nirvana. Because there is a seed, by doing karma, one will see the sal tree, because there is no seed, even if karma is done, only some afflictions will arise. Just as when covered by chaff, the fruit of the rice is not visible, similarly when covered by afflictions, that is not called a Buddha. Just as when freed from chaff, the fruit itself appears, similarly when freed from afflictions, the Dharmakaya itself becomes completely clear. It is said in the world that a water tree has no essence, but its fruit is the essence, just as it is eaten first. From the essence-less samsara, if one is freed from the cage of afflictions, its fruit is Buddhahood, becoming the nectar of all sentient beings. Thus, with the six metaphors of butter, butter lamp, jewel, gold, grain, and tree fruit, the three states of base, path, and result are represented. Maitreya with nine metaphors, the first metaphor is the Buddha concealed in the lotus calyx, from the Uttaratantra: Just as
