The way to practice the ground. First, 1. Basis, 2. Characteristic, 3. Division, 4. Number determination, 5. Definition, 6. The valid cognition that determines. First, although there is no common basis for division, in the minds of worldly people, there is only a truth that merely turns away from what is not true. As it is said in the commentary on the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning: "The two truths are established in relation to the minds of worldly people." Or, just take selflessness as the basis for division. As it says in the Entering [the Middle Way]: "Because both truths are without self-nature, these are neither permanent nor annihilated." The basis of conventional truth is the appearances of the six consciousnesses together with their objects. The way the Madhyamikas enter into the six consciousnesses is the same as the Shravakas. The ultimate truth is considered to be the essence of the Dharma realm, which is pure by its very nature. Two characteristics: The characteristic of conventional truth is that it appears as a form with grasping and clinging. It is also born as a form of obscuration. As it says in the same text: "Ignorance obscures its own nature, therefore it is conventional. That which appears as false because of it is called conventional truth by the Sage." That is to say, all the phenomena of samsara, mind and mental factors, and the appearance of objects, are all conventional. Even when one attains a bhumi, the part where mind and mental factors have not ceased, the impure objects, such as the appearance of the six aggregates, are all to be abandoned and placed on the side of the conventional, and established as illusion. The characteristic of ultimate truth is the nature of being free from grasping and clinging. That is, from the point of view of not being directly understood by sounds and words, it is not known from others. The confusion of mind and mental factors is pacified in the Dharma realm, transcending conceptualization, free from all elaboration, and untouched by philosophical tenets. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "Not known from others, peaceful, not elaborated by elaborations, without conceptualization, not different in meaning, that is its characteristic." That is to say, the same meaning and different meanings are the tenets of those who speak of entities, and not only is it ignorance, but it is also not established to say that being free from elaboration is Madhyamika. In short, the Dharma of Nirvana is profound, peaceful, and naturally pure.

The sphere of reality, and the wisdom that realizes it, free from all obscurations, appearing as the pure and stainless, unchanging realm of Buddha's wisdom. The wisdom of equipoise of those who have attained the bhumis, and the subsequent attainment abiding as one with the essence of equipoise, appearing as the aspect of superior seeing, all of these are the ultimate truth. If divided, among the two, as stated in the Root Wisdom: The Buddhas teach the Dharma, relying on two truths, the conventional truth of the world, and the truth of the ultimate meaning. Thus it is. That is to say, in the face of a deluded mind, the appearance of various objects of knowledge is the conventional truth; while in the essence of non-delusion, abiding beyond any thought or expression, is distinguished as the ultimate truth. As stated in the Entering the Middle Way: By truly inverted seeing of aggregates, one grasps the self-nature of real things. That which is the object of true seeing, is that very self. The false seeing is considered the conventional truth. Thus it is. That conventional truth can also be divided into two: the false conventional truth, which appears as the object of flawed senses, and the true conventional truth, which appears as the object of unflawed senses. The former, such as the appearance of two moons and dreams, appears to the minds of worldly people, but is considered untrue. Even the Madhyamikas do not deny this, but establish it as the false conventional truth, merely as a term for understanding meaning. While the appearance of one moon, etc., also appears to the minds of worldly people, and is considered true, here it is also established as the true conventional truth. As stated in the Entering the Middle Way: Whatever is the object of the six senses, without harm, in relation to the world, is also true in the world, the remainder is established as inverted in the world itself. Thus it is. Therefore, just as hair appears to a deluded mind, but nothing is seen by a clear eye, so too, various phenomena appear to a deluded mind. For the equipoise of the noble ones and the Buddhas who have exhausted delusion, there is nothing to be fixated upon, therefore it is held that the current deluded appearance, with its inherent parts, is not apparent. As stated in the Entering the Middle Way: By the power of cataracts, from the conceptualization of inverted things such as hair, etc., by what power of clear eye faculty, one sees the self-nature of those things, know that this matter is also thus. Thus it is. That is to say, the deeds accomplished by the emanations appearing from the merit of the beings to be tamed and the blessings of the Buddhas, are also like in a dream, without sleep.
