Because everything is unestablished. As stated in the 'Perfection of Wisdom Sutra': 'Subhuti, all dharmas, in ultimate terms, are without inherent nature, and even nirvana is neither born nor ceases.' And so on. Establishing the distinctions and characteristics of the two truths should be viewed from the perspective of the conventional ultimate truth, and is limited to being established in that context. From the perspective of the non-conventional ultimate truth, it transcends the realm of knowledge, speech, and conceptual proliferation. How could there be any valid means to ascertain the distinctions and characteristics of happiness? The establishment of individual truths, and the reasoning of being separate from one and many, etc., are merely to cut off conceptual proliferation in order to be liberated from falsely clinging to existence and non-existence, etc. Moreover, the certainty that there is no birth and cessation, etc., in the ultimate truth is also understood through the five great reasonings. This is also to be understood through four methods: Examining the cause of what is to be refuted, thereby refuting what is to be refuted, like the Diamond Slivers; Examining the result, thereby refuting existence, non-existence, birth, and cessation; Examining both cause and result, thereby refuting the four extremes of birth and cessation; Examining one's own essence, thereby refuting. Establishing the negation of what is not as a reason is the Great Dependent Arising; establishing the negation of what is not existent as a reason is being separate from one and many. First, the Diamond Slivers, that which is not born from itself, from another, from both, or from no cause, is empty of all things that are born, like the general characteristic of non-existent things. The subject, things themselves, in ultimate terms, are also empty of being born from themselves, from others, from both, or from no cause, it should be said. Second, that which is not the arising of the existence or non-existence of a result from a cause is empty of all things that are born, like the general characteristic of non-existent things. The subject, this appearance of dependent arising, in ultimate terms, is also empty of the existence or non-existence of a result from a cause, it should be said. Third, that which is not one arising from one, not many arising from one, not one arising from many, not many arising from many, is empty of all things that are born, like the general characteristic of non-existent things. Thus, this appearance, in ultimate terms, is also empty of one arising from one, many arising from one, many arising from many, and one arising from many, that is, the four extremes of birth.

It is called "Because of Emptiness." The fourth great dependent origination is: Whatever arises dependently is empty of true nature, like an image. This appearance is also because it is dependent origination. One and many being separate should be understood in three ways: establishing the reason, proving the subject, and examining the valid cognition that determines pervasion. First, whatever is pervaded by being separate from one and many is pervaded by the emptiness of true entities, like a general concept of non-entities. This appearance is also because the ultimate truth of being separate from one and many exists as the pervader. Second, the teacher Nagarjuna said: Just as a moment has an end, so should the beginning and middle be examined. Because of the nature of three moments, the world does not abide in a moment. Thus, he spoke of establishing the subject of being separate from one and many. That which exists in between is pervaded by many parts, which is certain on the day and night. That which exists between day and night has three parts: morning, afternoon, and noon. Considering the differences of morning, etc., as neutral, just in terms of existing in between, being pervaded by just three parts is determined by a valid cognition. Similarly, for that which exists between the prior and later moments, if one examines whether it is an indivisible moment of ultimate truth, then, from the sign of existing between the prior and later moments, it can be inferred that it has three parts, therefore it exists in a state separate from the indivisible one of ultimate truth. Once one is negated, it is established that the many indivisible entities of ultimate truth accumulated from it are also negated. Therefore, the subject of the ultimate truth of being separate from one and many is established. Third, the valid cognition that determines pervasion is: On things like a pot, considering the differences of the pot, etc., as neutral, just in terms of existing entities, merely by negating that it is many entities, it can be determined that it exists in the state of one entity. When just an existing entity is determined to be pervaded by existing as one or many, this existing entity itself, which is seen as the pervader of one and many, even if it is an entity of ultimate truth, destroys the ability to generate doubt that it is not pervaded by one and many, therefore, being pervaded by one and many is the characteristic of an entity of ultimate truth.
