For two years in the garden [of Lumbini], four years in the medicinal forest, five years in the city of Rajagriha, six years of asceticism, at twenty-three in Shravasti, at twenty-nine residing in the palace. Thus, at eighty years of age, the supreme teacher, the Sugata, passed into Nirvana. Some Shravakas believe that, in addition to that, his life could be extended by two months. The Ratnavali states, "By conquering the Mara of death, he extended his own life by two months." The Mahayana, commonly known, states that the perfect place was Varanasi, the perfect teacher was Shakyamuni Buddha, the perfect retinue was the five excellent groups along with eighty thousand gods, the perfect Dharma was the first turning of the wheel of Dharma, the aspects of the four noble truths, and the perfect time was from the age of thirty-six to forty-two. Among these, the Vinaya Pitaka primarily teaches the training in discipline, beginning with the root and secondary precepts of the Vinaya, as well as the order of meditation, brahmacharya, and yoga practice in the Vinaya Sutra, and the extensive explanations of these in the Vinaya Abhidharma, and so on. After that, the perfect place was Vulture Peak Mountain, the perfect teacher was Shakyamuni Buddha,

The profound and vast Samadhi of the Sutra Pitaka, and the Abhidharma of the Sutra Pitaka, with all the various distinctions of grounds, paths, dharanis, and samadhis. Then, in perfect places such as Jambudvipa (Earth), and the abodes of gods and nagas, etc., in various uncertain locations, the perfect teacher, Shakyamuni Buddha, to the perfect assembly of monks and nuns, gods and nagas, and countless bodhisattvas, taught the perfect Dharma, the final teachings, the categories of definitive meaning. The perfect time was from the age of seventy-three to eighty-two. Among these, the Abhidharma Pitaka mainly teaches the training of higher wisdom. The Abhidharma Vinaya uses small and easy methods to subdue afflictions. The Abhidharma Sutra Pitaka describes the way to enter Suchness like an ocean. The Abhidharma Abhidharma includes the aggregates, elements, sense bases, faculties, consciousness, and the distinctions of the Tathagatagarbha, which is naturally pure. As it is said in the "Seven Hundred Verse Sutra": The Teacher taught the aggregates of Dharma, for the benefit of sentient beings, the places, times, and so on, in order, he proclaimed with the voice of Brahma. Thus it is said. From a unique perspective, it seems that considering the minds of those to be trained, the three wheels of Dharma were taught in sequence to those who gradually enter; while for those with the capacity to enter simultaneously, it appears as if the teachings were given at a single moment when the activity is completed. As it is said in the "King of Arrayed Virtues Sutra": I have not spoken anything, yet it appears extensively to all sentient beings; to those who desire gradual manifestation, it appears to them in that way; to those who enter simultaneously, the complete categories of Dharma appear; this is the greatness of speech that fulfills all wishes. Thus it is said. Here, some teachers believe that the three wheels of Dharma are only turned simultaneously, while others believe that they are taught in sequence. Both of these views are simply ignorant of the meaning that common and uncommon are distinguished by the difference in faculties. In reality, the teacher is like a precious jewel, fulfilling the desires of beings according to their inclinations. This is due to the blessings of the Buddha.

Although in the language of the Soi, it appears as sixty kinds of vocal sounds and accomplishes the purpose, in reality, the sound and words do not have self-nature. Due to the complete gathering of the three conditions: the inclination of the beings to be tamed, the blessings of the Buddha, and the timely gathering of circumstances, it appears like a reflection of sound. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: "Just like the sound of a reflection of sound, arises from the consciousness of others, without conceptualization and without fabrication, likewise, the speech of the Tathagata, arises from the consciousness of others, does not abide in the outer or inner." That's how it is. According to this principle, it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra: "Shantimati, from which night I attained complete perfect enlightenment, until which night I entered into Nirvana, I have not taught even a single word of Dharma." Some who do not understand say that it was not taught in the ultimate truth, but taught in the conventional truth, which also seems to be confused about the reality that transcends speech and letters, and appears like speech and letters in accordance with the appearance of beings. Therefore, here, regarding the Dharma-wheels that appear to the beings to be tamed, whether the places are the same or different, they are all the same, because the faculties and inclinations of the beings to be tamed are three different types. The sound that appears as the speech of the Tathagata, without any chronological order, teaches different Dharmas. As it is said in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "Benefit to the world, from your one speech, according to different inclinations, different sounds arise, each thinking, the Tathagata speaks to me, for whom do you smile, please reveal to me." And in the Sutra Meaning Commentary it says: "Without discrimination and without confusion, in the pleasing Vajra one speech, due to the inclinations of the beings to be tamed, it transforms into many different distinctions." Like this, in different times, the three wheels are spoken in sequence, which appears to some, and there is such a classification. As it is said in the Madhyamakavatara: "Ema! In Jambudvipa, the second turning of the Dharma-wheel will occur." And in the Seven Hundred Prajnaparamita Sutra it says: "Repeating three times, the twelve aspects of the Dharma-wheel were turned." Also, at the same time and in the same place, it appears as the speech of one teacher, but due to the different appearances of the beings to be tamed, different visions are seen. As it is said in the Zamatog Vyakarana Sutra: "At that time, some Bodhisattvas...
