Therefore, one cultivates the five powers. This is because, from the perspective of the ability to destroy afflictions being particularly enhanced, it is called power. The method of cultivation is in accordance with the faculties. The method of cultivating the aspects of the Four Noble Truths is as follows: From that, as the Ornament of Clear Realization says, "From this also arises forbearance, the two categories are the same." This means that temporarily, the four aspects of the Truth of Suffering in the Desire Realm, plus the aspects of the Truth of Suffering in the two realms above, are combined into one group, totaling eight. Similarly, the Truth of Origin, the Truth of Cessation, and the Truth of the Path each have eight aspects, totaling thirty-two methods of cultivation. Alternatively, between the stage of heat, the peak, and the small forbearance, the seven parts are added together, and after counting, there are two hundred and twenty-four aspects. In the middle forbearance, on top of the thirty-two, abandoning the four aspects of the path, one cultivates twenty-eight. Then, abandoning the four aspects of the path in the Desire Realm, one cultivates twenty-four. Again, abandoning the four aspects of cessation in the two upper realms, one cultivates twenty. Then, abandoning the four aspects of cessation in the Desire Realm, one cultivates sixteen. Again, abandoning the four aspects of origin in the upper realms, one cultivates twelve. Then, abandoning the four aspects of origin in the Desire Realm, one cultivates eight. Again, abandoning the four aspects of suffering in the upper realms, one cultivates four. Thus, when cultivating the four aspects of suffering in the Desire Realm, there are two types of individuals: those who are predominantly attached and those who are predominantly opinionated. The first type abandons any one of the Truth of Cessation or the Truth of the Path among the Four Noble Truths of the Desire Realm and cultivates three. Then, abandoning the last two, one cultivates the two, the Truth of Suffering and the Truth of Origin. In this case, there are also two types: one is damaged by the pride of "I," and the other is damaged by the laziness of clinging to indifference. The first person cultivates the aspect of impermanence twice, and the middle forbearance is completed. Thus, in the stage of middle forbearance, removing those that have been abandoned, counting those that remain to be cultivated, there will be one hundred and nineteen, as the Abhidharmakosha says, "One hundred and nineteen moments." Then, cultivating the aspect of impermanence once, the great forbearance is completed. Then, cultivating once, the highest mundane dharma is completed. Then, seeing impermanence, the Dharma-knowledge-forbearance arises towards suffering. In addition, the person who is damaged by laziness cultivates the aspect of suffering twice, and the middle forbearance is completed, as before. The second type is the person who is predominantly opinionated, choosing any one of the first two aspects.

Abandon the first three and meditate. Then abandon the first two and meditate on the last two. Among these, if the clinging to the self-view is strong, then meditating on the aspect of emptiness twice will perfect the intermediate forbearance. If the clinging to the self-view is strong, then meditating on the aspect of selflessness twice will perfect the intermediate forbearance. Similarly, the great forbearance and the supreme dharma are the same as before. Thus, after the completion of the path of joining, the sixteen moments of the path of seeing arise in sequence. Among these, the first fifteen are the path of seeing, as the Treasury of Knowledge states: "In that, the fifteen moments are the path of seeing because of seeing what was not seen." The sixteenth is both the path of meditation and the antidote that severs the clinging to what is abandoned by seeing. What is abandoned by seeing is all that is conceptually constructed and abandoned by the path of seeing. If divided in terms of essence, there are six, as the Treasury of Knowledge states: "The root of existence has six subtle proliferations: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt." If divided in terms of object, realm, and the way of wrong engagement, the Hearer-Specific Speakers focus on the four truths. In the three realms, the five views and five non-views engage wrongly in a sequence of ten. The five views are: Sākāyadṛṣṭi (འཇིག་ཚོགས་ཀྱི་ལྟ་བ།), Antagrahadṛṣṭi (མཐར་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ།), Mithyādṛṣṭi (ལོག་པར་ལྟ་བ།), Dṛṣṭiparāmarśa (ལྟ་བ་ལ་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ།), and Śīlavrataparāmarśa (ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་དང་བརྟུལ་ཞུགས་ལ་མཆོག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པའི་ལྟ་བ།). The five non-views are: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt. How do they engage wrongly? As the Treasury of Knowledge states: "These ten and seven, seven, eight, except for three views and two." Therefore, the three views are: excluding the first two and the last one. The two do not engage in the first two, but the others do, so in the desire realm there are thirty-two. In the two upper realms, because anger is reduced, there are twenty-eight and twenty-eight that focus on the aspects of the four truths, totaling eighty-eight that are considered abandoned by seeing. Among these, focusing on the aspect of suffering in the desire realm, there are ten ways of wrong engagement: five ways of actual engagement and five ways of engagement due to wrong engagement. The first is that the view of the aggregates of existence clings to the truth of suffering as self and what belongs to self. The view of extremes clings to existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation. Wrong view clings to non-existence.
