It is merely a matter of nominal designation, unlike sectarian views that cling to it as truly existent. As stated in the "Entering the Middle Way": "Just as you assert other-powered entities as real, I do not accept even the conventional." Regarding the manner of imputation, as stated in the "King of Samādhi Sūtra": "Among dharmas without letters, who is the listener and who is the speaker? Imputing to that which is unchanging, there are also listeners and speakers." Thus, all phenomena of appearance and existence, saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, are without substance due to their illusory nature. The mere appearance of arising and ceasing does not prevent their manifestation in the world. As stated in the "Root Wisdom": "Like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, thus is arising, thus is abiding, thus is also ceasing." If one does not understand how to differentiate and measure through the two truths in this way, one cannot attain enlightenment. As stated in the "Refutation of Disputes": "Without relying on the conventional, the ultimate truth cannot be realized. Without realizing the ultimate truth, nirvāṇa cannot be attained." And as stated in the "Essence of the Middle Way": "Without the ladder of valid conventions, to climb to the top of the great mansion of Suchness, who among the wise would do such a thing?" And as stated in the "Root Wisdom": "Those who do not know how to distinguish between these two truths, do not know the profound Suchness of the Buddha's teachings." If one understands well, the qualities are immeasurable. As stated in the "Two Truths": "Those who know the distinction between the two truths are not confused about the Buddha's teachings. They accumulate all the collections and surely go to the other shore of excellence." This way is the ultimate peak of the view of all vehicles of reasoning. From the "Treasury of Precious Tenets Clarifying the Meaning of All Vehicles," the chapter explaining the tenets of each vehicle, is the third chapter. Fourth, the chapter explaining how to practice the path. Having thus understood the individual abidings of each of the vehicles, we shall explain in detail how to traverse their paths. The paths of the non-Buddhists, because they fall into the extremes of permanence and annihilation, do not lead to liberation. Therefore, we will not differentiate them here, and we will not elaborate further. Among the paths of the Buddhists, there is a distinction of three vehicles: the path of the Śrāvakas, the path of the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Bodhisattva

It should be understood that there are three paths of individuals. Among them, the first is the path of the Hearers, which is to seek liberation for oneself by being disgusted with the suffering of samsara. As for how to enter this path, the Abhidharmakosha says: "Those who possess discipline, learning, and thought should diligently engage in meditation." Therefore, one must first restrain one's own mindstream with any of the seven types of Pratimoksha vows. The seven types of vows are: Bhikshu and Bhikshuni, Shramanera and Shramanerika, and Shikshamana, which are the five aspects of ordination; and Upasaka and Upasika, which are the vows of the layperson's side, totaling seven. The eight precepts are not regarded as a basis for merit because they are occasionally observed. Thus, one who abides in discipline should be skilled in the five aggregates, the twelve ayatanas, the eighteen dhatus, the twelve links of dependent origination, what is possible and impossible, and the faculties. Then, one enters the practice of the path, mainly taking and abandoning through the four noble truths. Among them, the truth of suffering is like a disease, caused by external or internal conditions in the three aspects of body, speech, and mind, producing pain, unpleasantness, such as diseases and harms of various kinds. As an example, in order to abandon the five aggregates of the time of samsara and the associated clinging, one diligently practices, thereby entering the knowledge of self-nature. The truth of origin is like the cause of disease, which is the karma of formation, like the image of a painter, which is the cause of producing suffering, such as the three poisons, etc., one must enter into abandoning these. The truth of cessation is like the happiness of being liberated from disease, like the joy of being liberated from the abyss of samsara or the plague, one must strive to obtain the supreme fruit. The truth of the path is like medicine, one enters into meditation in order to be liberated from the disease of suffering, as the Uttaratantra says: "Disease should be known, the cause of disease should be eliminated, in order to obtain a place of happiness, one should take good medicine. Likewise, suffering, its cause, its cessation, and the path, should be known, abandoned, realized, and practiced." What is said is the same as this. Furthermore, the aforementioned path is practiced in seven parts, as the Abhidharmakosha says: "The seven parts are in order, the four of the path of faith, and the warmth, peak, forbearance, and worldly, are established as seven natures." Therefore, one practices the four mindfulnesses in the small position of the path of accumulation.
