If asked, what is to be negated? What is to be negated is the idea of 'existence.' However, signs and inferences do not become meaningless, because they enable one to realize that what is to be negated is non-existent. That is, they enable one to know that true reality is non-existent. For example, even if one does not know that it is hail and mistakenly thinks it is a person, when one negates the attachment to the person, thereby proving that it is hail, because the nature of non-person is not what is to be negated, even if one proves that it is hail, there is no negation of the nature of non-person. Similarly, here it is merely negating the attachment to truth, and it is not saying that only this is to be negated, such as atoms, self-awareness, the chief, and the powerful, etc., are not what is to be negated, because by negating the general, one also incidentally negates the specific. Secondly, if, like not admitting that the ultimate truth is an object of reason, then what appears in the conventional is also clearly non-existent, like dreams, etc. It is only established as appearing to arise from its own cause, but in the ultimate, from the object of self-aware wisdom, the two truths, etc., to all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are not established, because it is said in the *Garland of Views* (Yum bar ma): 'Mañjuśrī, all phenomena, in terms of the ultimate, are empty of inherent nature, therefore nirvana is also unborn and non-existent.' Therefore, the distinction and nature of the two truths should be regarded as the nominal ultimate truth, and it is only in its presence that they are established. But in the presence of the non-nominal ultimate truth, because it has transcended the object of thought and expression, where can there be a valid measure to determine the distinction and nature of happiness? The establishment of each truth, and the reasoning of one and many, etc., is merely to cut off elaboration in order to be liberated from the perverted imputation of existence and non-existence, etc. Moreover, the certainty that there is no arising and ceasing, etc., in the ultimate, must also be understood through the five great reasonings. This must also be understood through four methods: examining the cause of what is to be negated, thereby negating what is to be negated, such as the Diamond Slivers; examining the result, thereby negating existence and non-existence, arising and ceasing; examining both cause and result, thereby negating the four extremes of arising and ceasing; and examining one's own nature and negating, establishing the non-affirming negation as the reason is the Great Dependent Arising, and establishing the non-existence negation as the reason is the separation of one and many.

First, the Vajra Splinter is that which is not born from self, other, both, and without cause, that itself is empty of all born things. For example, like the general characteristic of non-things. The subject, just things, is also said to be empty of arising from self, other, both, and without cause in the ultimate sense. Second, that which is empty of the arising of fruit with and without cause, is empty of all arising things. For example, like the general characteristic of non-things. The subject, this appearing dependent origination, is also said to be empty of fruit with and without cause and arising in the ultimate sense. Third, that which is empty of arising from one to one, from one to many, from many to one, and from many to many, is empty of all arising things. For example, like the general characteristic of non-things. Thus, appearance is also said to be empty of the fourfold arising, arising from one to one, from one to many, from many to many, and from many to one in the ultimate sense. Fourth, the Great Dependent Origination is that which arises dependently is empty of true nature. For example, like an image. Thus, appearance is also said to be dependent origination. The separation of one and many is to be understood in three ways: establishing the thesis, establishing the property of the subject, and examining the valid cognition that determines pervasion. First, that which is pervaded by the separation of one and many is pervaded by being empty of true existence. For example, like the general characteristic of non-things. Thus, appearance is also said to be because there is the pervasion of the separation of one and many in the ultimate sense. Second, is the teaching of the teacher Nagarjuna: Just as an instant has an end, so should the beginning and middle be examined. Because it is the nature of three instants, the world does not abide in one instant. Thus, he spoke of establishing the property of the subject of the separation of one and many, existence in the middle is pervaded by many parts, it is determined on the day and night, between day and night there exists, the time of morning and the time of afternoon and the time of noon, there are three parts, the differences of morning and so on should be treated equally, only existing in the middle, pervaded by three parts
