And the appearance as the vessel world is also knowledge, not an external object, because it appears due to clinging to the habitual tendencies of beginningless ignorance. Therefore, the basis of form is merely clinging, it is false. The basis of mind and the basis of what arises from mind, the aspect of what is to be grasped, is clinging, and there is no single self. Like a pure crystal ball unstained by the impurities of appearance. Without parts such as directions, the moment is the ultimate reality, it is asserted that the latter arises from the former. In this system as well, it is not asserted that objects are multiple, and that appearance and knowledge are the same entity. Although there is no system where the number of knowledges is infinite, the assertion that the six consciousnesses, eight consciousnesses, or one consciousness exist is like the system of those with aspects. The assertion that mind and mental factors are the same entity or different entities also exists as before. Non-associated compositional factors and unconditioned phenomena are also in accordance with the assertions of those with aspects. This treatise is slightly superior to those with aspects, but it is still not correct, therefore there are two refutations: it is unreasonable that form and so on are not objects, and it is unreasonable that partless consciousness is an ultimately real object. The first point is, if form and so on are not objects, then how are pleasure and pain established as objects? If it is an object because of its function, then why is fire and so on not an object because it performs the function of burning and so on? If, as stated in the context of refuting the Vaibhashikas, the external object is refuted as an object by the division of directional parts, then pleasure and pain will also be refuted as existing objects by the division of temporal parts. Therefore, although it is not an ultimately real object, just as an image, pleasure and pain exist as conventionally real objects. It is reasonable that form and so on also exist as objects that appear as external in conventional truth, like a dream. If the external world is false in the face of knowledge, and there is nothing other than the inner self, then taking and abandoning samsara, nirvana, pleasure, and pain, and so on is also unreasonable. The second point is, if consciousness is momentary and partless, then it will be unrelated to what comes before and after. If this is asserted, it will become causeless, therefore it will sometimes not change, and because it does not produce a result, it will become incapable of functioning. Thus, both those with aspects and those without aspects

To assert that the consciousness that is non-dualistic in terms of grasper and grasped is true in the ultimate sense and exists in the conventional sense is also unreasonable, like this: Because the nature of one consciousness, at one time, is such that the knowable and the knower are mutually contradictory. It is also impossible for oneself to know oneself, just as a sword cannot cut or touch its own tip. As it says in the "Holy Lankavatara Sutra": For example, a sword cannot, touch and cut itself, likewise, consciousness itself, cannot know itself. It is just as it says. If you say that because past consciousness is more aware than present consciousness, it is self-awareness, that is not correct. When the past is known by the present, does the past exist as an object or not? If it exists, it will become a permanent and substantial entity, because when present consciousness exists, the past exists without ceasing. If it does not exist, then because it does not exist, knowing also does not exist, because there is no object to be known. If you say that because one's own knowing arises, it is self-awareness, that is also not correct. Does the arising of one's own knowing depend on other-knowing or not? If it depends, then when the mind-essence of that one consciousness is other-knowing, it is not self-knowing. Therefore, there will be a consciousness that is not self-knowing. If it does not depend, then self-knowing cannot be established either, because self-knowing depends on the absence of other-knowing. Although self-knowing and other-knowing are different aspects of one consciousness, there is no fault because the essence is one, if you say that, it is also not correct. How can you prevent the two-facedness of the Samkhya school's consciousness, which is like a mirror? Furthermore, if the nature of one consciousness is self-knowing at one time and other-knowing at another time, then the consciousness of one being has two faces, and there is no difference from the Samkhya school. What can prevent the faults of dependence and the object of dependence of self-knowing and other-knowing being the same and different in an instant? Therefore, wanting a true or false consciousness in the ultimate sense is unreasonable. Secondly, the extremely profound secret of the Buddha's speech, in the system of the Madhyamaka school, although there are five bases of knowable objects, it is because they are condensed into two truths. There are two great treatises that state that all phenomena are devoid of inherent nature, namely, the establishment of the Svatantrika school and, the establishment of the Prasangika school. The first also has two, namely, the establishment that acknowledges the ultimate truth as the object of clear awareness and, the difference of not acknowledging it must be determined. The first has divisions and, definitions.
