Indeed, if it is said that the chief (mind king) of the previous moment arises to hold the essence of the mental events of the present moment, and the mental events of the previous moment arise to hold the distinction of the present chief (mind king), that is not correct. When the eye consciousness arises immediately after emerging from meditative absorption, is there a distinction apparent from that which does not precede the mental events of the previous consciousness? If it is apparent, since pervasion is not established, that apparent distinction cannot be the result of the previous mental events. If it is not apparent, although the essence is apparent to the chief (mind king), the distinction is not apparent, so there would be the fault of having two parts, appearance and non-appearance, in one entity. Furthermore, when the mental events of the eye consciousness immediately after emerging from meditative absorption have a distinction apparent, is there an appearance of essence? If there is, even if the previous (mind king) did not precede, the essence appears, and since pervasion is not established, the appearance of essence should not be the result of the previous chief (mind king). If there is not, the mental events have a distinction apparent, but the essence is not apparent, so there would be two parts, appearance and non-appearance, in one entity. Second, establishing (mind king and mental events) as one entity, that is, the chief (mind king) is only mind, and mental events arise from mind, (the two) are one entity. Although all self-natures appear, from the aspect of the appearance of essence, it is the chief (mind king), and from the aspect of the appearance of distinction, it is mental events. Just as consciousness and impermanence are one entity, but consciousness is the aggregate of consciousness, and impermanence is the aggregate of compositional factors. One entity, from the aspect of the appearance of essence, is the aggregate of consciousness, and from the aspect of the appearance of distinction, it is the aggregate of compositional factors, which is not contradictory. Therefore, mind and mental events are different aspects of one entity. Because mind appears as dualistic. Similarly, desire and so on also want to appear, or want to appear as faith and so on. Afflictions and virtuous dharmas are not existent or non-existent. This is what is said in the *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra*. Therefore, (mind king and mental events) are one entity. Fourth, non-associated compositional factors are also like the palm of the hand and the fist, which are the state of form, mind, and mental events. Life faculty and similarity, and the four such as birth, and the nine aggregates of ordinary beings, as before, are all states of form, mind, and mental events, which is the same as before. But attainment is not the state of other consciousnesses, but the state of other consciousnesses leaving imprints on the ālaya consciousness.

The three entrances of death are also not the state of the body, but the state where the six or seven consciousnesses cease in the alaya consciousness. The aggregates of names, etc., are also not the state of the characteristics of sound itself, but the state where mind, conceptualization, and its retinue appear as names, sentences, and letters. The fifth is the unconditioned, which is the same as the Sautrantika school. They say that in addition to the first three, there are also other existences such as the Tathagatagarbha and the Dharmadhatu. Although these texts are slightly superior to the Shravaka vehicle, they are still not perfect, so they are divided into general refutation and specific refutation. The first is to understand through the three points that phenomena are not reasonable in the mind, that conceptualization is not reasonable, and that no-self cannot establish terminology. The first point has already been said in the context of refuting the Sautrantika school. The second point is, if the appearance of the double moon and the general meaning, etc., are objects of knowledge, then how can they be imputed if they become dependent on others? If the object of attachment to the self is the two selves, then because the two selves do not exist, the basis does not exist. Because the nature of the imputed does not exist, the signified imputed, which is distinguished from different types, is also impossible to exist. The third point is, when knowing the selflessness of phenomena, do phenomena appear or not appear? If they appear, because they are knowable dharmas, it is impossible to become emptiness. If they do not appear, because they are not objects of valid cognition, it is uncertain whether they are entities, so it is not possible to establish the terminology of no-self. Secondly, specific refutation is divided into two types: many aspects of knowledge as one are unreasonable, and many aspects of knowledge as many are unreasonable. The first is, if it is said that the consciousness that appears as many is the nature of an indivisible unity, Then what prevents the existence of a real entity with limbs? If it is said that because of attachment to many parts, the existence of a real entity as a unity is prevented, then the appearance as many is also because of attachment to many parts, so the existence of consciousness as an indivisible unity is also prevented. The second is, if the object is indivisible and multiple, and the aspects are multiple existences of consciousness, then because it is impossible for one consciousness not to grasp multiple dust particles, the coarse appearance is impossible to exist. Secondly, those who say that Mind-Only is without aspects, affirm the five bases as follows: sound and meaning, the appearance of the double moon, etc., are all not the nature of both object and wisdom, although they are not real things, they appear as if fabricated. The five senses and the five objects
