Just as when entering the eye, a single eye-consciousness manifests the appearance of various objects such as blue and yellow, similarly, it is not contradictory for a single consciousness to manifest the appearance of various forms and sounds. A single concept does not manifest the general meaning of distinct things, but the clarity of consciousness experiences its own characteristics that are without any distinction. Therefore, it is not contradictory that its general meaning does not appear. Similarly, blue and other colors also grasp the general meaning of each distinct aspect, so it is also a concept, and it experiences the self-character of the meaning of clarity that is without any distinction. Therefore, it does not manifest its general meaning, and it is also not a concept, which is not contradictory in one entity. Secondly, the statement that the antidote destroys what is to be abandoned refers to things that are different entities, like fire and cold touch. It is said that the eight aggregates become the harmed and the harmer, causing contradiction to continuous entry. The part of the seed of the all-ground consciousness is the harmed, and the mind accustomed to selflessness, through the power of the harmer, does not render it powerless. Rather, just as when the continuum of a substance that has reached its prime ages, that same continuum reverts from its former state of prime, it is said that old age destroys youth. Similarly, the continuum of the substance of consciousness with a reversed appearance is born as consciousness without reversal, and the ability to generate reversal is lost. This is what is called the antidote destroying what is to be abandoned. Therefore, it is said that the antidote that arises later abandons the previously existing object to be abandoned. Thirdly, if the collection of consciousnesses is one, then it contradicts experiencing many. If you say that, it is not so. That single substance of consciousness, relying on appearing as various doors of sense bases, manifests the appearance of various objects, so it is recognized as various consciousnesses. For example, just as when a single monkey appears in many city gates, it is determined to be many monkeys, or when people inside cannot be seen from the four directions of the gates, they are thought to be many people. Fourthly, "Whoever is bodiless, dwells in caves, travels far, acts alone, tames the mind that is difficult to tame, I call him a Brahmin." As it is said in the collection of purposeful verses. Third, the basis of what arises from the mind has two aspects: it is unreasonable for the mind and substance to be not one, and establishing that substances are inseparable.

There are five faults: the object being the same is not established, it contradicts experience, the essence being inseparable contradicts appearance and non-appearance, self-power and other-power are unreasonable. This is a refutation of those responses. The first point is that, even for the previously mentioned mental factors being of one substance, some think that just as the main consciousness (i.e., the Alaya consciousness) has five different entities, they consider them the same by five (mental factors) that are the same as the main consciousness. Some say that if that is the case, when a conceptual mind arises with non-conceptual accompanying mental factors, the main consciousness grasps the general meaning, while the accompanying mental factors grasp the specific characteristics of the object itself, therefore it is unreasonable for the object to be the same. The second point is that if the accompanying factors are conceptual, then only the five ever-present mental factors arise as accompanying factors, then the concept would be six entities, and if many accompanying factors arise, then the concept would be many entities arising in one continuum, because experience proves that there is no such situation, so it contradicts experience. The third point is that for eye consciousness, the essence appears but the particular does not appear, and for its accompanying factors, the main consciousness does not appear, if it is considered as one entity, then if appearance and non-appearance on one entity are not contradictory, then contradiction is also possible. The fourth point is that if the main consciousness also manifests both the essence and the particular of the object, and the accompanying factors also manifest both, because there are two aspects of appearance and non-appearance, so for the main consciousness, the appearance of the essence is due to its own power, therefore it is established as the appearance of the essence, and the appearance of the particular is due to the power of the accompanying factors, therefore it is not established as the appearance of the particular. For the accompanying factors, the appearance of the particular is also due to its own power, therefore it is established as the appearance of the particular, and the appearance of the essence is due to the power of the main consciousness, therefore it is not established as the appearance of the essence, if you say so, then is the main consciousness the previous moment's consciousness, or do the accompanying mental factors arise first, or do they exist simultaneously? If it is like the first case, then it is unreasonable to be simultaneous, the main consciousness can produce the accompanying factors grasping the essence, but the accompanying factors cannot produce the main consciousness grasping the particular. If it is like the second case, then because there is no simultaneity, the accompanying factors can produce the main consciousness grasping the particular, but the main consciousness cannot produce the accompanying factors grasping the essence. If it is like the third case, then for simultaneity, there is no benefactor and beneficiary in one entity in the mind, therefore for simultaneous accompanying factors, the main consciousness cannot produce the grasping of the essence, and the accompanying factors cannot produce the grasping of the particular for the simultaneous main consciousness. The fifth point is that if simultaneously produce not
