It is concise and extensive. [Regarding] the first, in the sequence of showing the four extremely profound volumes, which compile five kinds of precious scripts, adorned with the title of the sun: The golden script has one son-dharma shown; the determination of the essential points of the time of offering; the guidance of the deceased and the nine mother-sons. The copper script has sixteen parts with embellishments; its back script is secret; the essential point script and the eighteen mother-sons. The conch script has the lamp that illuminates; its back script; the essential point script and the three mother-sons. The fine script belongs to the category of the copper script's sons-dharmas, the wind's guidance; the desire's guidance; also the hidden fragments, the script of measurement; the script of symbols, and five others. The turquoise script has twelve occasions of meaning; the cherished essence; the lamp of examples; the examination of death; the deception of death; the essence of view; the precious guidance and the eighteen mother-sons. Therefore, the four volumes are called the five kinds of precious scripts. That is, the golden script, the turquoise script, and the conch script each have one, and the copper script and the fine script combined have one, so the four came from the treasure. These were not given to the king, ministers, or nobles, but were buried as treasure in Chimphu. Other tantras and instructions, etc., were translated by King Trisong Detsen (742-797) and his son Prince Mune Tsenpo, as well as the subjects Nyang Tingngezin Zangpo, Skaba Dpal brtsegs, and Cogro Klu'i rgyal mtshan, a total of five people. After these were translated, they were buried as treasure in Zha Lha-khang. Through practice, Nyang attained complete accomplishment, and the other two attained self-arisen emanation accomplishment. Those who are not proficient in the history of the teachings think that there were only the king and Nyang, which is very unreasonable. Because most of the tantras and instructions were translated by Skaba and Cogro, and there are many essences and many emanations. Mune Tsenpo hid the copper-colored rock in the rocks of Samye, so if there is no heart essence, how could these appear? The scripts are mostly written like this at the end, but it has been wasted in vain. The second is the extensive one, with one hundred and nineteen instructions, which are fragments of instructions, the small purple book, the mirror that clarifies the basis of confusion, the essential point script of the four elements, the illuminating lamp, the key of clear light, the vase of knowable objects, the new practice sequence, and the examination of sound.
