The five elements dissolve into the five inner elements. The five inner elements dissolve into the five secret elements. The five secret elements dissolve into the perfected element, and when entering the great path, one should know it thus. Then, to know the signs of the five inner elements dissolving into the outer, one should know it thus. Earth dissolves into earth, water dissolves into water, fire dissolves into fire, wind dissolves into wind, and space dissolves into space. Furthermore, there are two ways in which earth dissolves into earth: the outer earth dissolving into the inner earth, and the inner earth dissolving into the outer earth. The time when the outer earth dissolves into the inner earth is the initial moment. Shaking. As a sign of the wind coexisting with fire dissolving, water flows from the body. As a sign of the life-sustaining wind dissolving, one cannot breathe. As a sign of the all-pervading wind dissolving, the body's radiance and memory disappear. As a sign of the merciless karmic wind dissolving, external breathing ceases. This is called external dissolution. Space dissolving into space is: the universally pervasive space dissolves into the completely pure lamp. The space of unlocalized clear radiance dissolves into awareness. The unmixed pure space dissolves into the dharmadhatu. The space that signifies meaning dissolves into wisdom. The space that liberates in the pure realm dissolves into the twenty-one meanings. This is called internal dissolution. The root-holding life dissolves into the bindu. The saving life swirls in the sky. The extremely subtle life swirls in the body. The impure life vanishes into the sky. The extremely trembling life dissolves into the dharmadhatu. The wind that holds and pervades the entire body dissolves into self-appearance. The wind that completely moves causes awareness to move in the sky. The wind that completely liberates separates inner and outer dharmas. The wind that completely reverses causes one's own awareness to reverse back to the base. The wind that is completely swift sees the object of awareness. The wind of an instant causes one to reach the state of original purity in three instants.
