Gathered into non-discrimination, therefore, the gatherer is wisdom. The discriminator is wisdom, dividing ignorance and knowledge into two, afflictions and wisdom into two, purity and impurity into two, samsara and nirvana into two, realization and non-realization into two, good and bad into two, therefore, the discriminator is wisdom. Thus it is said. Second, the mind and habitual tendencies, what should be purified by the mind, are purified at that time. An example of this is: In the Vajrasattva Heart Mirror, it says: Ah! Vajra Holder, listen! The immature conceptual samsara is like iron filings attracted to a magnet. Without liberation, there is no time for liberation. Ignorance is like iron filings, unable to be liberated. Ignorance is like water, gathering afflictions. Hatred is like fire, like the flames at the end of an eon. Desire is like drinking salty water, the more you drink, the thirstier you become. Stupidity is like darkness, like the darkness of an empty room. Pride and arrogance are like overturning mountains. Jealousy and harmful thoughts are like narrow and steep ravines. The five afflictions obscure wisdom. The mind is like a thieving mother dog. Consciousness is like a monkey in the forest. The heart is like an impure swamp. The alaya consciousness is like a pig among sentient beings. Knowledge is like a bird feather carried by the wind. Grasping and being grasped are like men and women. The distinctions of karma are like a bird entangled in a net. The distinctions of suffering are like ripples in water. The fruit of afflictions has no way to be endured. The suffering of samsara, the stake of grasping and being grasped, cannot be escaped by doing, but can be escaped by letting go. Abandoning actions, one achieves leisure. Abandoning all thoughts, supreme wisdom is unshakable. The king of secret mantras transforms afflictions into wisdom, like lighting a lamp in an empty room. The lamp of wisdom transforms ignorance into knowledge. Thus it is said. Third, the way to separate from it, the sutra has three parts: the actual way to separate at the time of manifestation, establishing the reason for separation, and declaring other names. First, by looking at the clear light of external appearance, without confusion, when the meditation of inner self-clarity is clear in its own place, the mind and wisdom momentarily turn away, and the alaya consciousness and the eight aggregates are obscured by wisdom, so the phenomena of samsara do not appear, and transcendence is naturally accomplished.

It is said: From the Mirror of the Mind of Samantabhadra: "The awareness that is separate from mind is the actual Buddha. The wisdom that is separate from thought is the actual intent. The radiance that is separate from obscurations is the actual pure appearance." So it is said. From Rangshar: "The awareness that is separate from mind is the actual Buddha. The Vajrasattva I, separate from thought. Know that there is no conceptualization in the clarifying appearance. Non-conceptual wisdom is equanimity. It is the great self-liberation." So it is said. Secondly, the reason is: By remaining unmoving in the nature of appearance, the phenomena of samsara naturally become purified, like water that, when undisturbed, naturally clears itself of turbidity. The example of a clear water jewel illustrates the unfathomable depth of the intent. As the former says: "This drop of self-arisen nectar, is like a clear water jewel. If placed in turbidity, the turbidity clears itself. Likewise, if this pith instruction of the essence is planted, it will not be stained by afflictions." So it is said. When alone in stillness, appearance arises as a friend. In the unborn realm, wisdom's light is clear. It is present in all, but not seen by all. Inconceivable, like the expanse of space. Clear and radiant, like the light of the sun. Unchanging, like the king of mountains, Mount Meru. Deep and unfathomable, like the depths of the ocean. Untainted, like a lotus in the mud. Unidentifiable, like the moon in water. Appearing as anything, like the magic of the sky. Clear and complete, like a rainbow in space. So it is said. Thirdly, stating other names: All the intents of space-awareness, etc., are gathered and decided in the single expanse of the root awareness. Again, from that same source: "Settle all phenomena into the unborn realm! Recognize the lamp of the path to enlightenment! Gather all phenomena into the nature beyond expression! Settle all tantras into the great tantra without letters, the great tantra of your own awareness! Settle all scriptures into the fundamental great scripture that cannot be shown! Settle all instructions into that which is free from elaboration! Settle all practices into that which is free from doing and activity! Settle all conduct into the uncorrected great perfection! Settle all meditation into the great clarity that is free from grasping! Settle all views into the unobstructed openness that is unattached to anything! Settle all results into the great single decisive wisdom!"
