Believe without hesitation. Knowing this, be certain that the three realms are just a vast, nameless thing. Being certain of this, feel at ease that there is no benefit or harm from virtuous or evil actions. Furthermore, by identifying the before and after of appearance and awareness, recognize that the mind has no cause or characteristics. Knowing this, believe without hesitation that the empty nature of mind has nothing to grasp onto. Believing this, be certain that what is called "mind" does not arise from causes and conditions. Being certain of this, feel at ease that sudden thoughts and ideas have no benefit or harm. Furthermore, by identifying the before and after of mind, recognize that the mind has no root. Knowing this, believe without hesitation that the nature of mind, on a single wheel, has no diverse elaborations. Believing this, be certain that one cannot attain Buddhahood through contrived dharmas. Being certain of this, feel at ease that there is no separate dharma to be realized apart from the meaning of no-mind. Furthermore, by identifying the before and after of dharmata, recognize that the mind has no arising. Knowing this, believe without hesitation that habitual tendencies and the alaya consciousness of the body do not harm. Believing this, be certain that it is impossible for the mind to arise now. Being certain of this, feel at ease that this is the destruction of the house of mind, with no returning or basis for returning. Thus, when the measure of these four times of mind is grasped, because there is no Buddha, the Buddha is not even a name, and the mind that clings to hoping for results is reversed. When that is reversed, there is no dharma of striving on the path. Therefore, because there is nothing in the dharma of non-existence, what is labeled samsara and nirvana is just a name, and what is not found in meaning is called the measure of liberation. Therefore, because there is nothing in the non-existence of mind itself, the mind has no cause and cannot be observed. Thus, in the four cycles of identifying non-existence, understanding the sixteen categories of dharma is the destruction of the house of mind. For example, it is like a child building and destroying a house. This is like destroying action with action, like destroying iron with iron. Or like destroying impermanence with impermanence, like a magician destroying a city of illusions. Or like destroying impermanence with fabrication, like piling corpses on top of corpses. Or like destroying fabrication with impermanence, like present awareness destroying former ignorance. Thus, when mind destroys mind, both are completely destroyed without a trace, like writing letters on water. Even searching for non-existence, one cannot find it, like searching for a wish-fulfilling jewel in the house of a poor person, even searching, there is no place to find it.

In short, for the mind that is without essence, there is no place to rely on. For example, it is like when a boat sinks, there is no place to grasp onto in the water. Therefore, if you do not understand the meaning of mindlessness and seek view, meditation, and action in the mind, then there is no time to find the teachings of great bliss and liberation, just as when a boat sinks and one grasps at water. Relying on what is believed to exist in the mindlessness is certain to deceive and bind you. It is also said in the Mirror of the Mind of Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra): "Believing appearance to be Dharmakaya is an obscuration for me. Believing whatever appears to be mind is an obscuration for me. Believing self-origination to be from elsewhere is an obscuration for me." So, if it is said that the mind vanishes, does it not mean that something that existed has disappeared? Vanishing means that if analyzed as before, it cannot be established; even if not analyzed, it is only the vanishing of sudden thoughts and ideas. The mind, as its own continuum, does not vanish from existence to non-existence, because there is no cause or condition for vanishing. So, there is no need to demolish the house of the mind, because there is nothing to demolish, is that so? For what is originally without mind, it is merely realizing the state of non-existence, not that there is a basis or entity of the house of the mind. Because the source of thoughts has merged into the nature of reality, it is through understanding non-existence that the term "demolishing the house" is used, but in reality, nothing that exists is demolished. Therefore, the so-called fruit of terminology is that by placing appearance on the essential point of whatever appears as an object, since there is no clinging to the appearance of matter, it is the fruit of the non-duality of object and mind; by placing awareness on whatever moves, since the house of the mind collapses on its own, it is the fruit of the liberation of movement and thought; in this way, by recognizing the place where the wisdom of the non-duality of matter and awareness merges, it is the fruit of non-existence. In this way, at the time of the three fruits, one should also understand the four essential points recognized at the time of dissolution and the sixteen dharmas of non-existence as before. That is to say, the key point of the Great Perfection Trekchö (khregs chod) of the Heart Essence is to know that the mind is primordially non-existent, naturally liberated, and that movement is sudden and primordially liberated. Other instructions consider the mind to be non-existent in ultimate truth but existent in conventional truth, so view and meditation become two paths in the mind. Merely self-liberation, self-arising, and self-abiding have the same name, but the meaning is different, because here it is to make it primordially non-existent, while elsewhere it is to believe that what exists has vanished. Dual union (zung 'jug) is also like this; elsewhere it is the dual union of two things that are believed to exist and are interconnected.
