Thus appearing. Empty and not empty, beyond words. (From) "Lion's Complete Power": Wherever the initial place is, that is where the final place will go. Now abide in its meaning. Again, it is said: In the sky free from grasping and conceptualization, when consciousness and mind are not distracted, that is the supreme samadhi of non-distraction, the abiding mode of the sole Buddha. Thus it is said. The second (guidance) is divided into three: Self-abiding relaxation is: Regarding the appearances of the six consciousnesses, do not make the fabrication of grasping, but abide in a state of openness and relaxation, without distinction between inside and outside. Even when going to sleep, abide in this state and sleep, then dreams will appear as luminosity. Great striking penetration is: Relax the three doors, and let whatever arises strike directly, grasping the essence of this naturally relaxed state. Expanding appearances is: Sit in the lotus position, gaze intently into space, cut off the distractions of the mind, and grasp the essence of the state of awareness and clarity, then the five winds will be gathered into space, and the pure light of self-appearance, external like smoke, rainbows, and rays of light, and internal like the clear emptiness of dharmata, will appear purely. As it is said in the "Six Realms": Thus, practice the three samadhis. The samadhi of self-abiding relaxation is: Do not block the doors of the senses, do not engage in physical activities, do not abandon sleep, and do not make distinctions with the mind. In short, let the body and speech abide separately, and do not let the scattered parts of the mind flow outward. Regarding the objects of the six senses, act with mindfulness, and do not let the mind be distracted. In the vastness of self-appearing non-conceptuality, generate the experience of clarity and non-conceptuality. The samadhi of great striking penetration is: The body is like that of an ordinary person, speech is free from words and sentences, the mind is not bound tightly, and there is no distraction in the naturally arising state. The samadhi of expanding appearances is: With body, objects, and awareness, grasp the measure of pure self-appearance. Thus it is said. Third, elevating the intention to transcend thought is divided into four: The view of abiding like a mountain king, the intention of abiding like an ocean, the instruction of abiding like awareness, and the method of abiding like appearances. The first is: Grasping this self-luminous awareness, no matter what appears, abide in an unshakeable state like a mountain king. As it is said in "No Letters": The view of abiding like a mountain king is secret. It is not doubt, and naturally there is no change. Thus it is said. The second is: The body in

La Qiongla, slightly focusing the eyes on appearances, placing awareness and clarity in a state like an unmoving ocean wave, clear and bright. As it says in that very text: The intention of the still ocean is: It is not appearance, nor does it make it appear; it is not emptiness, nor does it exist in emptiness; it is not luminosity, but the realm of great luminosity; it is not sinking, but naturally without agitation; it does not move, it is immobile, it does not change into movement; it does not stir, it is unmoving, it transcends all movement; it does not arise from action, behold this great method of placement! Do not engage in gathering or scattering, remain in a state of still oneness. It is not abiding, nor is there transcendence from it. In the ocean-like secret wisdom, from the very beginning, let it be spontaneously present, placed in the unmoving expanse. From the immeasurable great ocean, behold the summit of the victory banner that never sinks! Without the mind of emptiness, the great unconditioned body. Because there is no action, it triumphs over all actions. From the very beginning, it is unborn, the unconditioned still state itself. Unchanged by appearances, unconditioned by the mind. When the nature of reality abides in space, it reveals the intention. The wisdom of the Dharmakaya, having completely abandoned thoughts, without movement is the intention of meditation. If one does not grasp at the objects of appearance, like stars appearing in the depths of the ocean. Because there is no grasping at objects, clarity is uninterrupted, this is the way of abiding in the self-born intention. Thus it is said. Third, when the naked wisdom of clear and empty awareness emerges, recognizing it as spontaneously clear, it cuts through the fault of clinging to meditative absorption, and the transparent, naked Dharmakaya arises from within. As it says in the "Lion's Complete Power": When self-awareness looks outward at various objects, within, one finds the great, non-conceptual Dharmakaya. Thus it is said. Fourth, when looking at the five external objects, gazing slightly, one rests in the state where the inner self-clarity, naked and fresh, arises from within. As it says in that very text: When clear awareness, the nature of reality, looks outward at objects, within, one sees awareness free from multiplicity. And as it says in the "Wordless Scripture": The great means of gazing at appearance, awareness, is not the basis of all great appearances. The five elements appear as the path of the Buddhas, the five great ones themselves are clear as the appearance of the mother. In a state of non-distraction, rest in the great state of non-grasping. Thus it is said. Third, placing the three key points, the wheel of the nature of reality, in the vast, clear expanse equal to space, there are three: the key point of the nature of reality being free from effort,
