Ah! All schools of thought are at ease in their own place. In the mind-essence that appears as Dharma, one's own characteristics are completely pure. In the mind-essence that appears as non-Dharma, all delusions are at ease in their own place. Thus it is said. The second meaning is about practice; for the yoga that is continuously performed, there are four: the practice of combining day and night, its instruction is the method of ocean-like stillness, its intention is the Dharma-nature of the basis of appearance and existence, and its result is that afflictions arise and subside on their own. The first has three aspects. In the union of sun and moon, there are three practices: the practice of the mind of gods and so forth, the meditation of the Great Vehicle, and the intention of all Buddhas of the three times. Thus it is said. In the reductio ad absurdum it says: That which arises from the descent of self-nature is said to be true meditation. Channels, winds, bindus, bodily postures, eyes, and emptiness are what is meant by practice. Letters, light, and colors, and the expansion and contraction of illusory appearances, are what is said to be samadhi. The unmade, naturally abiding nature, just as it is, without change, is the intention of the Buddhas. Thus it is said. Among these, the first is the practice of gods and humans, which is the twenty-one mind-holdings. In that itself, it says: With the twenty-one stages of mind-holding, first, establish in the place; second, separate body and mind; third, see the Dharma-nature. At this time, the key points of body, speech, and mind, the one endowed with yoga should truly establish. Through the horse of the moving wind, burning, throwing, and gathering, if the wise one relies on the three key points, the mind's thoughts will be continuously cut off. The meaning of what was said like that, to put into practice, there are three: the first set of seven is to settle one's own mind in its place; the second is to separate the clinging to body and mind; the third is to show the seeing of the Dharma-nature. The first is to grasp the mind with the seven characteristics of the white "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: without). In order to make the place compatible with the mind, sit comfortably on a cushion in the lotus position, and meditate on a shimmering white "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: without) at the tip of the nose. When the breath goes out, visualize that the "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: without) also goes out, and when the breath comes in, visualize that the "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: without) also comes in, and practice mixing it with the breath. Furthermore, if there is a feverish illness in the body, visualize that "A" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: without) as a cold touch, and if there is a cold illness, visualize it as a hot touch, and practice day and night. In this way, a unique experience, separate from the mind's scattering and gathering, will arise. For all the bodily key points and wind key points.

Similar. If you feel weary, focus your mind on the letter "ཕཊ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: स्फट, Roman transliteration: sphat, Chinese: Pa). Briefly let the awareness wander, and then forcefully pronounce "ཕཊ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: स्फट, Roman transliteration: sphat, Chinese: Pa), causing the awareness to enter a state of non-conceptual, startled stillness. Hold the mind in this state until thoughts arise again, and then practice reciting "ཕཊ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: स्फट, Roman transliteration: sphat, Chinese: Pa) day and night. This will give rise to the meditation of emptiness, clarity, and self-radiance. Alternatively, focus your mind on the joyful laughter of a wrathful deity, uttering a sharp, short "ཧ་" sound. As before, focus on this, and you will give rise to the experience of non-conceptual clarity and radiance. To focus your mind on the scene of Asuras battling, sit on a mountaintop or a rock, etc. In a squatting posture, first slowly curl your head, and move your body slowly. After doing this for three or four days, vigorously and forcefully curl and move your body. External appearances will transform into a bloody red, a bright yellow, a distorted blue, a dissolving blur, and a hazy gray. Following this, external appearances will naturally cease, and you will see that nothing has any inherent existence. You will experience the state of appearances self-liberating. During this time, consume foods that are beneficial for the winds. Focus your mind on the letter "རཾ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: रं, Roman transliteration: raṃ, Chinese: Rang) at the navel center. To focus your mind on dispelling discursive thoughts with "ཧཱུྃ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: हुं, Roman transliteration: hūṃ, Chinese: Hum), mix a prolonged "ཧཱུྃ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: हुं, Roman transliteration: hūṃ, Chinese: Hum) sound with the breath, and hold your mind without straying from that state. Occasionally uttering a short "ཧཱུྃ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: हुं, Roman transliteration: hūṃ, Chinese: Hum) will give rise to the experience of discursive thoughts dissolving into their natural state. Similarly, meditate on "རཾ་" (Tibetan, Sanskrit: रं, Roman transliteration: raṃ, Chinese: Rang) at the navel center, align the breath and body posture, visualize yourself as a deity, and focus on subtle rays of light emanating and gathering from the tips of your nostrils and pores. This will give rise to the experience of vast, clear, and pure awareness. Second, the seven key points for separating attachment to body and mind: The breath and body posture are as before. Focus your mind on a red and white bindu, the size of a mustard seed, at the space between your eyebrows. This will give rise to the experience of the winds. Visualize the three channels in the center of the body as straight as a staff, with the two ends of the left and right channels at the nostrils. Control the breath from there, and shooting it out like an arrow will eliminate illness, evil spirits, sins, and obscurations. Bending it inward like a rope, entering the central channel from the crown of the head, and focusing on the three channels and four chakras being filled with the wisdom winds will give rise to the experience of empty and clear awareness. Visualize white breath curving back and forth from the tip of the nose, from the distance of an arrow shot to a yojana.
