Sa. Playing the damaru, bell, flute, and so on, adorned with flower head ornaments and the like, cultivating the deity's form in the mind, practicing on the basis of recognizing awareness, and alternating between these three: abiding in the meditation of one's own state. Transforming foot dances from right extension and left contraction to left extension and right contraction, and so on. The activity of speech, expressing long and short, and curved vowels and consonants with melodious sounds, led by Ā, E, Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), He, Lye, Shak, and so on. Receiving the supreme secret unsurpassed Vajra words: E ma ki ri ki rī, Maṣṭa vā li vā li, Sa mi ta pu ru pu ru, Ku ta li ma su ma su, I ka rā su li bha ta ye, Tsa ki ra bhu li sa la ye, Sa munta tsarya su bha yai, Bhe ta sa na bhya ku li yai, Sa ka ri dhū ka na, Ma ta ri bai ta na, Ba ra li hi sā na, Ma kharta ki la nāṃ, Saṃ bha ra ta me ka tsaṃ ta pa, Surya bha ta ra e pa sha na pa, Ra na bhi ti sa bhu ra lā pa, Ma smin sa gu li ta ya ba, 'Gu ra 'gu rā sa ga kha ra na lī, Na ra na rā e tha ra pa tā la, Sir na sir ṇa bhe sa ra sa pa laṃ, Bhun dha bhun dha tsi ṣa sa ke laṃ, Sa sā. Ri rī. Li lī. I ī. Mi mī. Ra ra rā. As explained in the Union of Sun and Moon, taking the intention of Samantabhadra and Samantabhadri in the song of the nature of reality: Because it is unborn, it does not cease. Without going or coming, it pervades everywhere. Great bliss, supreme Dharma, unmoving. Equal to space, without the garment of liberation. Without root and without support. Without place, without taking, the great Dharma. Primordially liberated, spontaneously equal, vast and great. Without bondage, without liberation. Pervasive and vast, like a palace, primordially existent. Transcending pervasive equality. Vast, oh vast, the realm of space. The great Dharma blazing in the center of the sun and moon. Spontaneously accomplished and manifest. Vajra mountain, great lotus. Sun lion, song of wisdom. Great sound, unparalleled music. Enjoying the edge of space. Buddhas, Buddhas, all equal. Samantabhadra, vast, the peak of Dharma. In the womb of the realm of space, clear and vast, spontaneously accomplished, primordially complete. This is the meaning: receiving it from the state of mind's pervasive vastness. Third, the benefits of song and dance, as stated in the Union of Sun and Moon: This is the chief of yoga methods. The soundless Vajra.

O song! It satisfies the minds of all Buddhas, is a companion to the practice of yogis, captivates the minds of dakinis, reverses the attachment to the six realms of samsara, is the place where the fortunate abide, allows all mind-streams to attain freedom, plants the clarity of self-aware bliss, accomplishes the power of single wisdom, eliminates the faults of sentient beings, purifies the obscurations of all embodied beings, bestows the bliss of empowerment and samaya, subdues the darkness of ignorance, is the resting place of all vehicles, is the boundary connecting view and meditation, is the field for taming the essential ones, is the self-arising place of immovable appearance, and also embodies Vajrasattva. Thus it is said. The Vajra Secret Song, because of its necessity, can close the doors of the lower realms, and is the activity of the Buddha himself. Thus it is said. Third, there are three ways to seize time with practices that have a definite order: the practice of a beginner, the practice of distinguishing between samsara and nirvana, and the practice of placing asceticism on the path. The first is the ten practices such as writing and offering letters. As it says in the Madhyantavibhāga: Writing, offering, giving, listening, reading, holding, explaining, reciting, thinking, and meditating; this is the essence of the ten practices of Dharma, an immeasurable accumulation of merit. One should learn them in order. The second is to practice the profound instructions, and as a preliminary to the third empowerment, to distinguish between samsara and nirvana through the actions of body, speech, and mind, thereby perfecting the practice of settling awareness. The third is as explained in the twenty-one explanations, here the first seven are mainly practiced. That is, first gathering all the doors of Dharma, and then seeking the meaning of practicing one aspect on the continuum, like a bee searching for a hive. Hearing distinguishes between Dharma and non-Dharma, thinking understands its meaning and suppresses afflictions, and meditation places understanding on practice, thereby definitively removing afflictions from the root. As it says in the Union of Sun and Moon: The wisdom of hearing cuts off external superimpositions, the wisdom of thinking cuts off internal superimpositions, and the wisdom of meditation cuts off secret superimpositions. As an aid to this, before entering a bird's nest without doubt, one must first cut off human superimpositions.
