, abandoning one's own homeland and going to another country, making it impossible for anyone to recognize one's name, good or bad, and knowledge or ignorance, disguising oneself as an ordinary person, living by begging for food and clothing, and practicing inconspicuously in caves or slightly remote places from villages, or in inns, etc. At this time, not showing off one's own merits is a sign of being desireless, and not inquiring about other people's lamas and Dharma, etc., is a sign of trusting one's own instructions and having no doubts. As it is said, "In a place far from enemies and friends, practice in the manner of a beggar." The second is to practice like a wild animal, that is, to go to extremely remote mountain slopes, rocky bird's nest-like places, or forests, or mountain tops, or the foot of snow mountains, or large canyons, and abandon three activities to practice. That is, abandon physical activities such as trading, farming, building cities, sending errands, circumambulating, etc.; abandon all verbal expressions, whatever they may be; and abandon all mental distractions, thoughts, and various thoughts that contradict one's own instructions, and practice the supreme instructions with one-pointedness and without distraction. The necessity is that when the body is relaxed, the pulse is slow, and when the pulse is slow, the energy and mind naturally slow down, and when the energy and mind are slow, the conceptual thoughts naturally stop, and non-conceptual samadhi arises in the continuum. When speech is slow, the meaning that cannot be expressed arises in the continuum, because when not spoken, one abides in the nature that cannot be expressed. Abandoning mental thoughts and distractions, samadhi arises naturally. As it is said in the Ornament of Clear Realization, "Those who have faith and are disgusted with samsara should offer to the lama and give alms, cut off all connections with samsara, and live alone, far from friends." Third, the actual meaning of practice is shown to be fourfold: the constant yoga of conduct, the constant yoga of meditation, the constant yoga of view, and the constant yoga of result. The Jewel Box Ornament Sutra says, "The constant yoga of conduct, the constant yoga of meditation, the constant yoga of view, and the constant yoga of result.

Thus it is said. Thus, it is taught to practice with twenty aspects of the four. As it is said in the Tantra of the Heap of Jewels: "In such a distinct order, practice with meticulousness. By the manner of the four lords, also grasp the essence of the four meanings. With its four objects of awareness, cut off the continuum of appearance in this way. With the four methods of establishing instructions, make all phenomena of appearance and existence your own. With the four essentials of purification and liberation, gain control over afflictions and so forth. By its own measure, with four examples, show self-confidence and self-face. With the four great assurances of unchanging view, also grasp the measure of irreversible wisdom. Whoever becomes accustomed to this, in the great perfection of self-nature, touches this, Samaya. In this way, whatever appears to whom, all wisdom is grasped in the ultimate. Obtain the great secret, the great seal." As the meaning of what was said, in the order of practicing with the distinctions of parts, first, the yoga of constantly engaging in conduct has four: the conduct of mastering appearances, the method of its instruction of staring at appearances, from that, the view of establishing the basis of appearance and existence, the result of transforming the position of afflictions. The first has three: briefly showing the essence of the general aspect of conduct, extensively explaining the conduct of the great secret determination, grasping the time with the conduct of the determined order. The first also has three: the conduct of not clinging to attachment, the conduct of no negation or affirmation, and the conduct of non-attachment to attachment. The first is: it is the conduct of the Vehicle of Characteristics, merely engaging in conduct after entering the common path, and not the conduct of quickly liberating. As it is said in Rangshar: "The conduct of not clinging to attachment is the conduct of the Vehicle of Characteristics. Bound by great attachment in meaning, how can there be liberation without means?" Thus it is. The second is: it is the conduct of the general Mantrayana, although there are means, it abides in effort and accomplishment, so it does not quickly liberate. Again, as it is said in that same text: "The conduct of no negation or affirmation is the conduct of inner and outer Mantras. Not desiring to stop afflictions, nor desiring to accomplish wisdom, it is the conduct of related words and meanings. In terms of meaning, it is not without attachment, it is superior because it has means. Likewise, the conduct of holding great means, that itself is also the yoga of conduct."
