Have firm conviction. Then, mutually transform gods and dragons, transform men into women, transform one into many, and transform many into one. Practice these without distraction during the day, and they will surely appear in dreams. Then, by thinking of countries and pure lands, etc., that you have never been to before, you will travel there in dreams and hear the Dharma, etc. If you have a strong desire for these, you will quickly become proficient. Some say that dream yoga is the main practice, but here it is reasonable as a preliminary practice, because merely grasping dreams and transformations is not the meaning of Dharma nature, and one cannot be liberated from the clinging to the truth of the mind. Most of the former people did not explain these, but they are mentioned in the commentary on "Subduing the Maras" and the essential instructions on dream yoga, so they are important points, and I have practiced them myself, so they are certain. Secondly, the main practice has three parts: the essential point of the meaning of Dharma nature, the method and the essential point of the object of focus, and the essential point of binding the channels and winds. First, there are three: practice, transformation, and cutting. Because it is very difficult, all three should be practiced. Intermediate people should practice two, and easy people can practice any one, but here, when guiding, all are practiced, so in practice, all should be practiced. First, the practice of dream yoga is to transform all appearances during the day with the intention that they clearly appear as the dream you dreamed last night. When practicing in the non-reality of external objects, look inward at the practicing awareness and clearly practice the appearance as the nature of being without root or basis. See everything as baseless, unreal, groundless, and ungraspable, and abide in the nature of appearance. Practice diligently and without slackening with one-pointed concentration. Merely appearing, in reality, will appear in dreams like an illusion, and all the illusions and attachments of karma and habits will disappear. In dreams, too, one will abide in that state without distraction, so that day and night will not go beyond the cycle of Dharma nature. Transforming dreams means, from the two aspects of appearance and emptiness, the key to transforming appearance is to rely on showing the image of a deity in a mirror, and transform all appearances into the mandala of the deity, transform them into the pure land of the Buddha, and transform them into the eight similes of illusion. These should be done with strong intention. Transforming into emptiness is like clouds clearing in the sky, or smoke.

Like being awake, meditate on transforming illusory appearances into emptiness in an instant, vast and spacious. In dreams, it will transform in the same way. The way to cut off dreams is this: in the very moment of appearance, do not cling to the appearance of external phenomena. Do not grasp the images that appear to the awareness. Without being disturbed by thoughts related to appearances and mind, release the self-luminous awareness into a clear and vast expanse, without thinking of anything. By doing this, at first the dreams are coarse, then subtle, then forgotten, then become less and less, until finally one does not dream at all. The awareness is then used in the self-luminous samadhi, integrating day and night, which is called the union of day and night. Secondly, regarding the key points of method and object of focus, there are three: stirring, constricting, and casting into the essential point. The first is, when training in dreams, for those things not yet grasped or mastered, the key to grasping and mastering is: stir and reverse what is being meditated on, and practice in a spacious manner, which makes it easier to master. That is, placing the winds and mind at the locations of the four chakras is also accomplished by reversing the order. Constricting is: the body's posture is the lion's posture, constricting the channels, concealing the mind in the throat, which constricts the object of focus. Lying down without being distracted by other thoughts constricts the dreams. Casting into the essential point is: with strong desire, the essential instructions hit the essential point. When sleeping, visualize a red "Ah" (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:无生) in the center of the throat, in the center of a four-petaled white lotus, filling the channels like waves, and sleep in that state. This is the key to the arising of dreams, and there is nothing deeper than this. That is, combining practice, stirring, transforming, constricting, cutting off, and casting into the essential point is supremely precious. Although stirring, constricting, and casting into the essential point are explained from the location of the chakras, here, through experience, it is proven that this point is most important. Third, the key to binding the channels and winds is a cherished friend at all times during dreams. That is, the key to inserting the wind-essence into the network of channels. In the lion's posture, the wind flows gently, and visualize all appearing worlds, samsara and nirvana, dissolving from your nostrils into the wheel of memory, and then inhale the wind. From the "Hum" (藏文:ཧཾ,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at the crown of the head, bindu descends, and visualize all appearances in a state of bliss, clear and bright like a reflection in a mirror in the heart, and focus your attention on this.
