Then, practice repeatedly. Reverse all appearances upwards to the throat chakra, focusing on becoming a single red ཨ (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A). Holding the breath and essence in the throat and sleeping is the great secret of this practice. By holding the key points in this way, dreams and habitual patterns will eventually be exhausted, and delusion will be cleared. At this time, for those of great diligence, even if all aims are not fulfilled, it is possible to cut off dreams. Those of middling diligence will quickly grasp dreams, and those of lesser diligence will transform into virtuous habitual patterns and eventually cut them off. These also go from many dreams at the beginning to few at the end. For those of great diligence, from the beginning, there are dreams that are as forgetful as goat hair. For those of middling diligence, dreams are very clear, and for those of lesser diligence, many are unclear. These are also first grasped, then transformed into virtue in the middle, and finally dreams are exhausted, and when sleep transforms into luminosity, it is called dreams awakening into luminosity. These are also as stated in the Thal 'gyur: "The key point of dream path-taking is: First, act and grasp the key point. First, subdue body, speech, and mind, relying on the signs of accomplishment, observe

Meditating on illusion as an image, especially when one's own body appears in a mirror, putting on clothes, wearing ornaments, then taking them off and throwing them away, praising, saying unpleasant things, and so on. Although its image appears there, it is not established in reality. For this appearance, self and other, enemy and friend, food and clothing, enjoyment, pleasant and unpleasant, rejection and acceptance, birth and death, happiness and suffering, illness, whatever arises, whatever is remembered, whatever appears, all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana, like the image in a mirror, knowing from the moment of appearance that they have no essence. Thus, one becomes proficient in the unreal illusory nature of delusory appearances, and also sees one's own body as an illusory body, so there is no doubt about attaining the illusory body of the bardo. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Kashyapa: Like the appearance of a face in a perfectly pure mirror mandala, just as its own nature is not established, Kashyapa, know all dharmas. And as it is said in the Arya Samadhiraja Sutra: Just as the moon in the water at night appears in a clear and unclouded lake, the moon in the water is empty and can be accumulated, but has no essence, know all dharmas in the same way. Just as in the midst of many people, illusionists conjure forms, making horses, elephants, chariots, and various things, and various untrue things appear in them, know all dharmas in the same way. Just as the trunk of a moist water tree, even if a person splits it to seek its essence, there is no essence inside or outside, know all dharmas in the same way. Secondly, practicing the illusory body in dreams at night, as before, knowing that all appearances are dreams, thus practicing all appearances and existence as illusory dreams. Birth and death, rejection and acceptance, delusory appearances, all become proficient in dreamlike illusions, and even in dreams they appear in this way, so there is not the slightest attachment. Again, as it says in the same text: Just as in the dream of a young girl, she sees a son born and dying, and is happy when he is born and unhappy when he dies, know all dharmas in the same way. At this time, the qualities of the path of union appear in oneself, as it says in the Ornament for Clear Realization: Even in dreams, all dharmas are seen as dreamlike, and so on. Reaching the peak is a sign of the path of joining.
