Yes. It is liberated in its own place, because it is liberated from the very beginning. Moreover, due to the key points that the mind has no origin, no abiding place, and no destination, it is known to be liberated from the very beginning. The way of liberation is: because the mind is emptiness, it is called liberation, or because it is impossible to establish terms such as non-liberation, as a sign of being liberated from the very beginning, there is no need to liberate it again now, because the mind is Buddha from the very beginning. It is known that there is nothing to be liberated in that which is liberated from the very beginning. Secondly, relying on the key point that self-liberation has no antidote, the instructions of the Lama are taught without reservation, that is: thus, all phenomena of appearance and sound arise from themselves, and are liberated by self-liberation. For example, like the sky and clouds. Because it is like that, it is not like the flawed practice of relying on meditation, view, and conduct from other places, the ultimate liberation is the exhaustion of Dharma. There are three types of self-liberation: the understanding of self-liberation, the validity of self-liberation, and the way of liberation. The understanding of self-liberation is: the meaning of having no antidote, that is, appearance itself is self-liberated from appearance, and there is no Dharma nature other than appearance. Similarly, emptiness and so on, there is nothing separate from liberation by itself. For example, it is like curing a person with alcohol sickness with alcohol, using poison to counteract poison, cutting iron with iron, and so on. Because afflictions themselves are liberated by themselves, they are called self-liberation. There are three reasons for establishing self-liberation: it is reasonable by reason, it is reasonable by scripture, and it is reasonable by logic. It is reasonable by reason: it is reasonable by the reason of Dharma nature, because all liberations are self-liberation, it is reasonable that it is not like being liberated by others. If it is liberated by others, it is impossible for one object to appear in different forms. The characteristics of an object are determined by the object itself. It is reasonable by scripture: it is said in the Mind Section: Liberation is self-born, not from others. It is reasonable by logic: self-liberation is great, and it is established and reasonable by the logic of having no dispute. Thus, appearance is self-liberated, because it does not depend on other antidotes. The way of liberation is: there is nothing other than oneself liberating oneself, and other scriptures also say: those with desire use desire as a path.

It explains liberation and so on. As it is said in the Hevajra Tantra: "Just as fire burns, it is also warmed by that fire." And so on. Appearance itself is liberated on the basis of its own appearance. There is no other cause or condition for liberation other than appearance. Therefore, it is liberated without a basis, without a support for existence, without a root. It is the nature of mind without a root. As it says in the Guhyagarbha Tantra: "This mind-nature without a root is neither male nor female, nor neuter. It is neither color nor shape. It is neither named nor of any lineage." Therefore, there is no place to turn away from it other than itself, there is no place to go, it has never been born. There is no place from which it came, because there is no other dharma separate from itself, so it is called self-liberation. For example, just as a snake's knot is self-liberated without anyone untying it. Third, relying on the key point of direct liberation through seeing and vanishing, it is shown without relying entirely on the tantras and agamas, that is, liberation in that very moment by merely seeing directly. Just as liberation occurs when a mother and child meet, without transforming the appearance with the mind, without cutting it off with conceptual thought, by resting in it, it is liberated into self-purification. Direct liberation through seeing and vanishing has four aspects: the understanding of direct liberation, the reason for settling in direct liberation, the manner of liberation, and the example. The understanding of direct liberation is: liberation in that very moment by merely seeing directly, that is, liberation in the very first instant when one sees, hears, or becomes aware. Therefore, it falls under the category of the direct perception of reality. There are three reasons for settling in direct liberation: reasoning, scripture, and logic. Reasoning is: it is reasonable because attachment and bewilderment are not determined in any object. Appearance is liberated merely by appearing on the basis of appearance, and awareness is liberated merely by changing on the basis of change. Through the key point of emptiness arising from itself, by directly seeing form, merely pointing to the attachment to form, it is liberated by itself. Similarly, it is with sound and so on. How do you know that it is liberated? Because seeing form cuts off the elaboration of non-form, and by placing it directly, it is liberated, therefore, awareness that goes to other objects does not arise. The scriptural reason is: as it says in the Essence of Gold Tantra: "Through the view of great direct liberation, both Buddhas and sentient beings are liberated." The logical reason is: it is reasonable through the logic of impartiality and self-purification.
