Here, there is repetition, from "Accomplishment of Skill": "When awareness is absent in the realm, in the peaceful state of dharmata, The self-appearing, self-manifestation is devoid of reality. Separated from the mind of appearance, the meaning of dharmata itself, Without expanding or contracting, look at your own realm." Thus it is said. Here, some identify appearance as mind, identify mind as emptiness, and from the adornment of identification: "Emaho, by identifying appearance as mind, the mind becomes familiar. By identifying mind as emptiness, emptiness increases bliss. By identifying emptiness as awareness, awareness itself is inseparable from the expanse—that is indeed the dharmakaya." It seems that they cling to the self-characterized meaning of these words. Regarding this, there are three things: the basis of intention, the purpose, and the valid cognition that harms the reality, so it is not close to the view of the Heart Essence. The basis of intention is: In order to guide those who hold external objects as truly existent, it is said thus. From "Self-Arisen": "In some cases, appearance is shown as mind." Thus it is said. That is, appearance is not other than mind, it is merely labeled as appearance due to the delusion of mind. The purpose is merely to abandon clinging to external objects. The harm to reality is: If appearance is mind, then mind should necessarily be perceived by the senses such as the eye, with colors and shapes, because appearance is definite in shapes and colors such as form. If appearance is mind, mind is emptiness, and emptiness is awareness, then these three become confused with each other, awareness would become deluded, appearance would become invisible to the eye and other senses, and mind would become non-deluded, because these three are of one essence. The difference of this has been explained in detail before. Engaging in the yoga of appearance as mind does not lead to liberation. From "Self-Arisen": "The yoga of appearance as mind, all arises from my mind. If mind itself is realized, what is the use? Those who constantly say such things, I have not said to be liberated." This scripture also harms it. Furthermore, if one realizes no-mind, then there should be no appearance, and when mind ceases, appearance should cease at that time. However, appearance remains in the state of no-mind, so it also harms it. There are five states of no-mind, from "Madhyantavibhaga": "No-mind is sleep and fainting, and the two samadhis, and perpetual non-perception." Thus it is said. In short, to consider appearance as mind is a distorted thought.

Since it is great darkness, it must be dispelled. Third, the crucial instruction on how phenomena are liberated from their own ground of Dharmata, and the advice on how there is no acceptance or rejection in appearance: The five external objects are absent, appearance is emptiness, self-purified like the moon in water, so there is no need to purify it. Internal thoughts of the mind naturally vanish without a trace, so there is no need to destroy them with diligent effort. Appearance and mind are primordially liberated, relaxed and free, so do not impose the shackles of acceptance and rejection. Awareness is naked and bare, do not put on the clothes of elaboration, but relax the body and mind, reaching the great equality without a trace. Let the five sense gates freely manifest as the self-arisen primordial sound. That is, the nature of inner self-luminosity, awareness, emerges nakedly. In that state, whatever good or bad thoughts arise, recognize them as the natural expression of the non-dual, self-arisen primordial wisdom, without chasing after the past. Do not disturb appearances and mind. Do not be flustered or confused, but let them be naturally in a vast and open state. In this way, the realization of Samantabhadra will naturally arise in the expanse. As it says in the sixth chapter of the "Vast Expanse": The self-appearance of all sentient beings is great. There is no place to seek it from elsewhere. By one's own power, through one's own awareness, even if you search throughout the three thousand worlds, there is no place to find it. The realm of experience of all the worlds is in the self-nature of that appearance, which no one sees. The field of appearance, self-awareness, and bliss, the yogi who is accustomed to this, sees the body of Samantabhadra, me. Only those with fortune see this. Furthermore: When thoughts of conditions arise in relation to objects, if you know that all these are without self-nature, then all appearances are like illusions, or like dreams and reflections. The experience of the great, inconceivable image, when it arises in someone's continuum, then all appearances are like a thunderbolt. The conditions of appearance do not arise in the continuum, and one attains irreversible samadhi. Furthermore, as it says in the "Wordless Scripture": All arising and deluded appearances are my mind. All abiding and deluded appearances are my heart. All appearances and deluded appearances are my body. All sounds and deluded appearances are my speech. What is seen is unobstructed, appearing like my form. What is heard is unobstructed, resounding like my voice. What is smelled is unobstructed, felt like my scent. What is tasted is unobstructed, resonating like my flavor. What is felt is unobstructed, swift like my mind. Secret afflictions are my magical displays, Buddhas and sentient beings are my graveyard. Primordial Doer, I am the great luminosity of self-arisen appearance.
