Then, is this not wisdom? If it does not arise from the mind, there is nothing not understood by merely abiding in this very mind. These arising, dying, abiding, and so on, are neither exhausted nor do they increase. Therefore, it is said in the scriptures: "In this wheel of ignorance, there is neither exhaustion nor increase." And again: "The nature of sentient beings' realm is also without limit." Thus, because there is no cause, it is known that the mind does not increase; because there is no increase, it is known that there is no birth; because there is no birth, it is known that there is no death. Knowing this, it is known that there is no good or bad in karma. As it is said in the Compendium: "Existence and non-existence, these two are dharmas without existence." Thus, because it is known that it is self-purified from the very beginning, how could sentient beings arise from the very beginning of purity? This is how it arises. Moreover, the mind has no conditions. If it did, just as various appearances manifest, the mind would also change into various colors and so on due to conditions. If the mind became different, then memory and thought would not be consistent. If the mind had conditions, it would be permanently destroyed, and the cause and effect of the mind would become meaningless. Even if the mind is destroyed, if its karma remains, it would be very contradictory, just like saying that the color of the body and the goodness or badness of the senses remain even after the body is destroyed. Therefore, it is clear that it merely exists like an illusion. If there are no conditions, then where do these various memories and thoughts come from now? These present memories and thoughts do not arise from conditions, just as one is happy and believes it to be true upon suddenly finding a jewel in a dream last night, but there is nothing upon awakening. The same is true of present memories and thoughts; they are grasped as true and clung to, but there is nothing after that, so they merely appear as temporary truths and falsehoods, and there is no real establishment. For example, just as various clouds suddenly gather in the sky, disappear without a trace, and suddenly vanish, although the clouds are not in the sky, they appear in the nature of the sky. Although conditions and causes are not in the mind, when appearances appear, there are no causes and conditions, and it is certain that they do not exist through examination of one and many and the three times. As it is said in the Root Wisdom: "From a seed that is broken or unbroken, a sprout does not arise. You have shown that all dharmas arise like magic." And "The fifth condition is not existent." It is also said in the All-Creating King:

I, the path of supreme peace without conditions, and so on, are explained. Therefore, if there is mind, does the entity exist in form or formlessness? It does not exist in form; if it did, it should be visible to the sense consciousness, but because the visible is not seen, it is clarified by the valid cognition of direct perception. If it exists in formlessness, how is it known? If it is said to be known by movement, then that movement, with color, direction, and the combination of past, future, and present, is not established upon examination. If the previous movement and the present movement coincide, then at the moment of coincidence, the previous memory and thought must exist without ceasing in the present. If it exists, it contradicts being previous. The previous of the present and the point of coincidence should have ceased, and if they have not coincided, then the present memory and thought should not reasonably move without cause, thus it is refuted. Is movement one or many? If one, the variety of movements is diminished; if many, the agent of movement being one is diminished. Therefore, the existence of mind is not established, as it is understood to be like rootless space. Because there is no birth and no place of birth, there is no place to return. If there is not, then by recognizing between the past and future of memory and thought, it vanishes there, thus knowing that the mind has no basis. Knowing that, believing that there is no place to return. Knowing that, deciding that the three realms are the great nameless. Deciding that, being at ease with the fact that there is no benefit or harm from virtuous or non-virtuous actions. Furthermore, by recognizing between the past and future of appearance and consciousness, knowing that the mind is not established as cause and nature. Knowing that, believing that the nature of the empty mind has no grasping. Believing that, deciding that what is called mind does not arise from cause and condition. Deciding that, being at ease with the fact that there is no benefit or harm from sudden thoughts of memory and thought. Furthermore, by recognizing between the past and future of wisdom, knowing that the mind has no root. Knowing that, believing that the nature of the one mind has no elaboration or difference in samsara and nirvana. Believing that, deciding that one cannot attain Buddhahood through fabricated Dharma. Deciding that, being at ease with the fact that there is no separate Dharma to be realized apart from the meaning of no-mind. Furthermore, by recognizing between the past and future of Dharma-nature, knowing that the mind has no birth. Knowing that, believing that the alaya of the habitual body cannot harm. Believing that, deciding that it is now impossible for the mind to arise. Deciding that, that is the house of the mind destroyed, being at ease with the fact that there is no return and no basis for return. Thus, the measure of the four times of the mind being possessed is determined, because there is no Buddha,
