Colors, shapes, signs, characteristics, sizes, directions, etc., after examination, there is nothing. Just examining with consciousness, it becomes a rootless, clear, and originally pure state. The inner clinging thoughts, one realizes oneself as being like rootless space. All that appears as Dharma and Dharmata, the grasped and the grasper, all become a vast state with nowhere to go and nothing to rely on. At that time, one realizes that the mind originally had no arising, it has always been there, and today one realizes it, comprehending the meaning of the Dharmakaya's freedom from elaboration. Secondly, the intermediate dwelling place and the dweller, and thirdly, the final destination and the goer, also breaking them down and examining them in the same way, one touches upon the intention of the Sambhogakaya's self-illumination and the Nirmanakaya's self-liberation and self-arising. Outer and inner, there is nowhere to go, awareness is without reliance, the grasped and the grasper are without root, the intention is uninterrupted and equal, comprehending the meaning within. Without cultivation, like a flowing river, meditation is self-liberated, and the great equality arises from within. As the "Refutation" says: The mind's initial place of arising, the intermediate dwelling place, and the final destination. Like this, by examining and analyzing the three, one can tame the mind and understand the true nature of the mind. At that time, all that appears as the outer world is non-existent yet appears, rootless and clear. All thoughts in the inner mind arise and are liberated, leaving no trace. Appearance and mind are unrelated, appearing as a vast, transparent state, which is called the intention of the exhaustion of Dharma arising in the exhaustion of mind. These are what is said in the Noble "Heap of Jewels Sutra": "Well-protected, for this, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas initiate the diligence of completely seeking the mind. That mind is not found externally, nor is it found internally, nor is it in between the two, nor is it found, it is not blue, it is not yellow," and so on, until "for this, the most excellent of all diligences is the diligence of seeking the mind." Secondly, examining one and other: This is the oral instruction for demolishing the house of the mind. That is to say, if this thing called "mind" exists, then from what cause does it arise? If it does not exist, then what is the wheel of movement and memory? Upon what conditions do these forms of memory depend to arise? If there are no conditions, then these sudden memories are unreasonable. If the mind and body are one, then the body

When the earth is destroyed, the mind will also be destroyed. If not, since the direction of the mind cannot be determined, the body's diseases will transfer to the mind, and the cycle of previous and future lives will not occur. If the mind is said to be one, then when the senses of one being cease, other beings should also die. If it is not one, then just as the forms of beings are different, the minds of beings should also be different entities. If the minds are different, then within one body, all the creatures like insects should die together when a person's lifespan ends. If the mind is one, then there would be countless internal and external beings in one body, what is this? If the mind can return, then first there must be a cause. If there is a cause, then it is conditioned, impermanent, and will eventually be destroyed, so there would be no good or bad in karma. If it cannot return, then these countless bodies of beings should not appear. If the mind is diverse, then beings' attachment to self and others should not arise simultaneously, because they would be confused with each other. If one is victorious, immortal, without suffering, and possesses retinue and wealth, etc., one would be happy; while others' defeat, etc., all these should not have a common consciousness. If the minds are different, then, since there are many beings, some may, like others, enjoy their own defeat, etc. If the mind is only one, then when one dies, all should die; or when one is born, all should be born. In this way, through various means, examining and searching for one's own mind with the reasoning of one and many, yet finding nothing, this is realizing the meaning of the nature of reality being primordially pure through the power of wisdom. Because the mind has no cause, it is impossible to return, therefore, believe that the accumulation of karma is endless. If the mind has a cause, then there must be a result. If the result is samsara, then it is impure and impossible to liberate. If it is beyond samsara, then samsara cannot arise. If it is both, then just as samsara and nirvana are different, the mind will also become different. If the minds are different, then just as body and mind are different, the idea of grouping thoughts and ideas into one category will also become diverse, instead of being grouped into one category. If the mind has no cause, then these minds should not exist, if asked, then these minds are not produced from the cause of the mind.
