In the very nature of mind, all phenomena exist as spontaneously accomplished. Therefore, all phenomena of mind and objects are merely labels. Thus it is said. Second, the explanation of the flourishing of the inner elements is twofold: the common detailed divisions, and the individual nature of each division. First, the five gross elements of the body rely on the five pure elements within, hence the inner elements. These are wind, fire, earth, water, and space, each of which exists in fivefold divisions, resulting in twenty-five branches. The reason for this certainty is that it is determined by relying on five different functions. The Self-Arisen states: The five great elements are complete within one's own body. Among them, the five winds produce the sound of wisdom, the five fires produce the energy of wisdom, the five earths produce the essence of wisdom, the five waters produce the realm of wisdom, and the five spaces produce the place of wisdom. Thus it is said. The second is divided into five: the detailed explanation of the nature of wind, fire, earth, water, and space. The first is also divided into two: the fundamental divisions, and the detailed explanation of the branch divisions. The fundamental divisions are: The Self-Arisen states: What are the five winds? They are the life-sustaining wind, the wind that generates radiance and splendor, the wind that is equal to fire, the all-pervading wind, and the merciless karmic wind of the eon. These winds reside in the head and tail of the bodies of all sentient beings. Thus it is said. Among them, the life-sustaining wind resides in the life channel, the wind that generates radiance and splendor resides in the eyebrows, the wind equal to fire resides in the stomach, the all-pervading wind pervades the entire body, and the karmic wind resides between the heart and the pericardium. Their functions are also, respectively: sustaining life, generating radiance, digesting food, walking and sitting, and transferring life, in that order. Second, the branch divisions are that each of the five winds is further divided into five. Among them, the first, the five life-sustaining winds are: The Self-Arisen states: The life-sustaining wind also has five aspects: the life that holds the root, the life that protects, the extremely subtle life, the impure life, and the trembling life. Thus it is said. These also, in order, are: generating the sound of awareness, generating the sound of bindus, the light of

It exists in the life force in the manner of generating intention, holding the root of ignorance, and acting as a companion to the mind, and the intention of awareness depends on the intention of life-force wind. Secondly, the five winds that dwell with fire, again from that it is said, there are also five winds that dwell with fire, namely: the wind that separates essence and dross, the wind that generates warmth, the wind that transforms into clarity, the wind that completely gathers, and the wind that completely praises. These also exist inseparably from life, inseparably from awareness, inseparably from the lamp, inseparably from the bindu, and inseparably from wisdom, respectively. Thirdly, the five winds that generate radiance and brilliance, again from that it is said, there are also five winds that generate radiance and brilliance, namely: the wind that generates various consciousnesses, the wind that generates various minds, the wind that generates various radiances, the wind that burns in various ways, and the wind that is various roughness. These also act as the steeds of the realm of wisdom, the realm of appearance, the realm of the lamp, the realm of ignorance, and the realm of mind, respectively. Fourthly, the five pervasive winds, from the "Self-Arisen": There are also five winds that are various pervasive, namely: the wind that pervades the ground, the wind that pervades immediately, the wind that pervades previous fear, the wind that pervades memory, and the wind that pervades the entire body by holding. These also act as the manifestation of wisdom, the manifestation of the lamp, the manifestation of knowledge, the manifestation of thought, and the manifestation of mind, respectively. Fifthly, the five merciless karma winds, again from there: There are also five merciless kalpa winds, namely: the wind that acts in various ways, the wind that liberates in various ways, the wind that repels in various ways, the wind that hastens in various ways, and the wind of the moment. These also pervade the aggregates, pervade the moment, pervade the bardo, pervade the conceptual thought, and pervade the three of the moment, creation, and completion, respectively. Thus, the twenty-five are also gathered into five roots, and the explanation of these terms is, from the "Self-Arisen": Because it acts on the pure ground, it is called the acting wind. Because it holds the life of pure wisdom, it is life.
