Therefore, relying on it, the cycle of samsara in the three realms can be severed. The Supreme Empowerment Tantra states: Those with fortune, using the languages of the six realms, each speaking in their respective manner, can cut off the wheel of the six realms of beings. As mentioned above, by exerting diligent effort for just a short period, for the supreme practitioner, attachment to "that very thing" will disappear; for the average practitioner, the realization that "that very thing" and all appearances are without inherent existence will arise. Here, the body is the foundation, and the mind is the fruit. The connection between the two is speech, so the conduct of speech is essential. By speaking different sounds of oneself and others, the connection of deluded speech is severed; no longer allowing what was said in speech in the past to arise again; it is necessary to liberate the wheel of letters. In "The Accumulation of Wheels," it says: Whoever discerns the boundaries of speech will surely determine that the expression of samsara will cease. Third is the conduct of the mind. The Single Son of the Buddha Tantra states: After that, one should also begin the conduct of the mind. Liking and disliking, happiness and suffering, permanence and impermanence, and so on, the thoughts of contemplation and practice, as well as Dharma and non-Dharma, and so on, desire, hatred, and ignorance, as well as virtue and non-virtue, and so on, one should engage in various kinds of thoughts and actions. Like this, whoever does it, the mind's manifest clinging will naturally cease, and one will be able to discern the boundaries of samsara and nirvana. And, the Prasangika states: Having reached the standard in this way, the yogi should engage in the conduct of the mind. Remembering the past, future, and present, one should rely on the rotation of thoughts, reflections, scattering, and gathering. For thoughts of liking and disliking, good and bad, for all kinds of things that exist and do not exist, observe outwardly and think inwardly. The memory of how one thinks will surely cut off the continuation arising from the outside. What is the necessity of this? Having practiced in this way for many days, one will eventually no longer enter the cycle of the three realms. In "The Vajra Chamber Accumulation," it says: Whoever can control the wheel of thought, whoever can make it turn, can cut off his mindstream from the outside. After that, through natural abiding without distraction, the holes of memory will naturally close. The Glorious Sky of Light states: Cutting off thoughts, the holes will close. That is to say, when there is no attachment to body and speech, one can engage in the conduct of cutting off the root of the mind. By training oneself to vanish without a trace, one can...

Liberation from the three realms, as stated in the Wheel of Accumulation: Who can discern the root of the mind? This does not cause the mind to regress. Thus it is said. Therefore, through the three actions of discerning the root, one is prevented from falling into the three realms. As stated in the Near Realization of Power: By what is the root discerned, one does not regress into the three realms. Here, the method of abiding is shown, these are the preliminary rituals. Thus it is said. Therefore, diligent individuals, through three months of practice, some may even attain liberation immediately, and for those of intermediate and lower faculties, direct and clear instructions are given. As stated in the Consequence: Having completed the practice in this way, always focus on the essential points of direct perception. Thus it is said. Nowadays, those who give instructions following the preliminaries of the mind are under the influence of laziness. Third, guiding the mind, the preliminaries of body, speech, and mind, there are two types: the actual preliminaries and the method of abiding. As stated in that very text: The order of preliminary training is, starting with the preliminaries of the body, stopping the causes of individual actions, assuming the vajra posture, the training of the body benefits the mind. Speech is abiding in the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Chinese literal meaning: 吽), sealing and training power, by guiding the subtle energy into the path, thus the training of speech benefits the mind. The mind is the place of initial arising, the place of intermediate abiding, the place of final going, thus by examining and analyzing these three, the training of the mind allows one to understand the nature of the mind. Thus it is said. The ritual of abiding is also, at this time, the essential points of body, speech, and mind, should be established by one who possesses yoga. Thus it is said. The necessity of these is divided into two, the common necessity is to pacify the obstacles of body, speech, and mind, and to purify sins and obscurations. The supreme necessity is to be liberated into the three kayas, as stated in that very text: There are two types of necessity here, shown by the distinction of common and supreme. Second, the main practice, the method of transmitting uncontaminated wisdom to the continuum, there are two aspects: explaining the meaning of the term "main practice" and distinguishing the order of the meaning. First, defining the scope with words and integrating the meaning into practice, there are two aspects: first, the so-called "main practice," analyzing from the four possibilities, there is the case of being a basis but not being actual, like seeing the palace but not seeing the king, for some Dzogchen teachings, although there is a basis for the teaching, it cannot be actually obtained from the activity.
